Everybody is so glommy in this thread Here is something to be positive about written by Rozalia Kierc:
Bright side of today's SP:
- the only skater today who didn't receive a single negative GOE from any of the judges
- the only skater who didn't receive a mark below 9 in all components
- the only skater to receive a maximum GOE for a triple axel (3.0) this season (he did it at NHK too) and the only one to receive a perfect GOE for a jumping pass today

:agree: Thanks for highlighting the positives in his SP.

For me, he doesn't have to be perfect to be great. And he may not be a nerveless competitor, but he is a the best kind because he is a fighter even with mistakes as we saw in the SP. I hope to see that fight again on Sunday. Go Yuzuru!

Bronze: Great. He must be burning with this result. Let's go Finland.
No medal: Great. Finally he'll be released from pressure and Japanese media. Let's go easy.

Well, that's the thing though. We will never know. There is also a possibility that how his approach is to a competition (relaxed or intense), his skating order etc actually play very little role and it is just that he has his best skates and peak around December, period. It is still depending on the free, but it is not as if he has skated better SP at 4CC in 2013 when he is more "intense" and "stressed" of being the newly crowned Japanese Champion + skating at home. He rarely skated at this time of the year and from his history he rarely skated really well at this period.

If he manages to overcome it, then good for him. But if it doesn't work, then maybe that's just the way things are. He seems to be aware of this and accept that he skates his best mid season, but still trying to work on his 2nd half season competitions by saying he is trying to increase his average performance, which I translate as trying not to implode and unravel the rest of his performances when he makes a mistake. We shall see how the result of his work on that department would be

4CC is around the same time as Olympic. And frankly he did quite well at Olympic SP in both team and individual event. He was in very good form at Sochi. The LP is where he let the nerves take him. So I still take that his condition at Sochi was great.
So if anything I'd say they can adjust so he peak at Olympic cause they already did that before. The main issue is his mentality.

Although he's maybe consciously looking for good points as well as "homework" to take home these days, at the SP press conference he still said he found himself useless/weak. :sad4: Granted, that was right away so it's normal he'd have those feelings. But.. End of the day, he's still very competitive by nature. It's inconclusive and too early to say at this point, but it may be that a relaxed approach ultimately isn't the best fit for him if he's only relaxed until warm-up time. We simply don't know yet / probably won't ever know for sure.

I did, personality wise maybe, but if it about appearance not really, Yuzu is than Park Bogum(the prince) he more resembles the young G Dragon (the leader of Big Bang, korean boy group)

I am totally positive, I think he'll skate a blinding H&L (though not perfect) and still win this competition, with Shoma second.

He'll save the two perfect skates for Worlds, which is where he SHOULD skate them cleanly because yes, Worlds *is* more important than 4CC. Yuzu isn't going to lose the OGM just because he didn't skate clean here and/or won. But it's time to get that Worlds title back, and now is the time for it.

And he'll win Worlds because I said so. And because third time's the charm. And because the two big competitions I went to, he won with stunning performances, so I know it's all about me being there.

seriously tho, it's their smile esp on the eyes area which resembles the most

He was talking very quickly there, that means obviously he is in the very "kuyashii" state.
I don't know why but I felt a bit relieved to see it. I'm not used to see calm Yuzu,
and I cannot help feeling Yuzu's condition is not so good as he insists...

I think 4G practice will begin at 16:40, which is 45 minutes from now.
Here in Japan it's 15:56 now, and I believe Korea and Japan are in the same time zone.
I am pretty nervous about his practice. Maybe I should go out to drink coffee or something
rather than sitting at home waiting for the news.
