Wow this makes no sense whatsoever. Even if there's a conspiracy where the Chinese Fed is trying to prop up another skater, you'd think that they'd pull this stunt with next year's Olympics spots. Why swap out Zijun right before the most important competition of the year? China will be lucky to have a spot for next year's Olympics...maybe Xiangning Li will surprise us as she actually has a lot of potential once she cleans up those jumps.
I'm heartbroken for Zijun. I was reading only today about her training in Russia, and looking forward to her hard work paying off!

I translated and posted the Chinese Team Leader's response to the conspiracy theory on the Worlds Entries thread. She emphasizes the list is not final. She says Zijun has not been well with a fever and unable to train normally. Best athletes will be sent to Worlds and the final list will be published before the team leaves for the championships.

Uhmm this so called leader better not be playing mind games.. .talk about deflating morale and instigating internal conflicts and turmoil.
Something seems out of synch with Zijun training with Mishin perhaps instead of a assigned Chinese coach? Is that what is causing the friction?
I would hate any federation politics infringe on skater's liberty... I have seen it so many times to talented skater that falls victim to it and see how it affect their scores and judges perception.
well usually if a skater really is sick and not in good enough health to skate, they'll just withdraw her, instead of replacing her and making her the alternate...
I think there's some truth to both versions. Zijun may be sick these days but is still able to skate and someone is using this situation and pulling strings to get her off the world's team.

Ziquan bless her is widely inconsistent and usually has meltdowns in her frees and Xiangning who i LOVE finished 11th at junior worlds.
There is absolutely no reason to withdraw Zijun against her will. It makes no sense at all and it must be so demoralizing for her. I can't imagine. Not even talking about the effects on Ziquan as well who was pulled out of the team to put Xiangning but is now back and might be pulled out again??!! That's no way to prepare for one of the most important competition of their carreer (since it determines olympic spots)
