Well, and I think he does not want to really skip any jump in his FS. It looks to me that he is the type who wants to do all type of jumps in his FS (T,S,F,Lo,Lz,A)., so even if 3Lz has a bigger BV by 0.7 pts, maybe he won't skip it

I wouldn't doubt that. He has such a clear idea of what his 'ideal' is and is stubborn enough to stick with it no matter what. He's still trying to do that 4S-3T combo in the 2nd half afterall with so little point gain but so much riskier.... and trying to set up 4S like a 4T... so many transitions in and out of jumps. The list is endless.

I was laughing because Chris was taking about how he used to not feel nervous when Yuzu skates, and I was like "there has never been a moment when Yuzu competes that I have been not nervous!" Like hell, we have a whole ritual before he skates in this thread

It does seem like B.Esp has fallen a little out of love with him, but that is the nature of the sport. Someone else that is exciting comes along and the positive attention goes to them. At least they still acknowledge that he is a "majestic skater"

The possibility of him addin the forth quad is bad news for me. I'm kinda sad now. Today his performance was amazing in terms of his gutsy spirit and tech but the performance itself was not so impressive. He looked very stiff, almost no expression, constantly saving energy. He was probably trying to consume as less energy as he could to execute his lay-out. If it happens now, then he's gonna travel Nathan's route and it'd be even worse if he suddenly doesn't upper his stamina like a superman. I'll miss his breathtaking performance and presentation so much. I think I secretly hoped he'd avoid this quads-crazed road and will present himself as a complete skater.
Besides, it's still a speculation but he abandoned some spins and didn't use upper body as much which may be a result of minor injury or I something. I'm worried about his body and how well it'd take 5 quads while trying to still pull a whole-package.
Though I understand why he needs it. He strives to win the Olympics and not-so-perfect Nathan Chen won over him which is alarming. It's probably necessary to up the difficulty. Though the pcs gap is still impressive.

I would not really judge his performance today as a sign of how he will go the quad route and abandon his artistic pursuit. He looked that way today because he had to think of an impromptu layout to make up points (and land them). Had he finally find a comfortable layout and delivered it as planned, I think we would see better presentation and interpretation.

That's so weird, given that it's BESP They were all over him in GPF SP, and now it's like "oh have we seen the best from him?"

Well they did both still say that he's still ahead when they commented that they he's a majestic skater, also think that Chris (or is it Nicky?) still find him superior skating skill wise to the youngsters

Simon has always been a bit too eager (for me) to think that most tech/most successful equals best, which I don't think is the case. Best skater is best skater you know? I think Simon has even claimed that Djokovic is a better tennis player due to him being better against his rivals than Federer, I like Simon though I just don't always agree with his reasoning

I can only hope this motivates him to show us the "real" Yuzuru Hanyu and prove that he's not done yet.

Well it's true, Yuzu was pretty dominant in the beginning of the cycle, but not to say by any means that he degreased or that his time is over, but others are definitely rising up and challenging him. This is good for him, so don't worry but sometimes I do feel kinda uneasy that now of days, all he gets compared too are those 2 weeks from last season.

But that makes his eventual victories even more sweet. Kinda off topic, but remember NHK 2014. In his interview he said he will definitely be the one to rise the Japanese flag, and he did it! I can only expect that at 2018 Olympics!

OMGGGG I just woke up and I can't be happier. He doesn't stop amazing me, really. And seeing him happy and proud, it's what I was asking yesterday.
About the interpretation, yes I notice that too, he looked stiffer than usual, even at GPF he was more commited and I think there was more tired. Idk I think something is bothering him, maybe back pain or something else.
But well this competition ended really well, thx Yuzu!

You know. I think you should not be bothered by it. People would say what they want to say. If they think his time is over then let them be. I would actually think it is good because it will lessen the expectation and pressure on him. Going into worlds and/or oly not as a sole favorite probably would help him.

Second, not everyone will like Yuzuru and thinks he is the greatest, whether currently or in the past. There is no need to be rattled when someone thinks there is a better skater than him. What is important is he is still in a good position had he delivered. It is just like in SC for years, or worlds, or any other competition where he did not perform cleanly and someone finish ahead of him. But so far he showed that he is still capable of delivering and is still the man to beat. I think it is better just to wish for him to be healthy. in a good form and happy, rather than wishing everyone will still think of him as the greatest.

He started his program in a similar manner. He realizes the difficulty of his layout and may water down everything besides tech if necessary. Yet the necessity may come every time from now on.
I think he was also very nervous at the beginning (just look at his stare and expression in a starting pose) and it might have added in stiffness and blankness. But even crazier layout will make him even more nervous.

It was obvious the other skaters would have to try and get at his level, of course he couldn't remain untouchable. I know he loves the challenge, and gets motivated by that, but it also pisses me off that many are saying that the story of him and Patrick will repeat at PC. It's like no one's realistically expecting him to get a second OGM.
I'm sorry, i feel I'm making the thread all gloomy again but this is the only way i can calm down...
