Satoko Miyahara

Can't wait for Satton to return to competition and hopefully she can heal well, give superb performance at Worlds and medal. Miss news about her. Ganbatte Satton!!!

Rika texted her from 4CC asking her if she's ok and Satoko replied "I'm cheering for you!" :luv17:

How sweet! :) I remember Satton said that she and Rika are good friends. But it's hard not to like Rika, she has that charm and energy that makes you want to befriend her.

Let's hope she will be fully well till worlds. I love her FS program and just waiting to see it again next month :luv17:

Missing Satoko? I found a video of her free skate at Stars On Ice

Seeing her jumping makes me sad now that I know she was in so much pain... :sad21:

she decided to skate to her LP with all the jumping passes when she was injured?!?! i thought she was supposed to be the sane one :dbana: :hopelessness: i hope she is getting better, there is still about 1 month till worlds :hap85:

Maybe she was still in denial stage at that point. Didn't know what was wrong and thought the show must go on. She would be rational otherwise.

Yeah it was during these shows when they started investigating. They said she had trouble jumping the lutz and we can see for ourselves now.

Reposting from the state of Japanese ladies thread.

Earlier today, JSF official Yoshiko Kobayashi has revealed Satoko Miyahara's current state. Kobayashi checked on Miyahara and coach Hamada and confirmed that her recovery is going smoothly. Up until now she refrained from putting pressure on the left hip and only practiced jumps like the loop. The toeloop is the most difficult to do. From now on she will start introducing the rest of the jumps little by little, following the instructions of the doctor.

It is unclear whether Miyahara can return to a perfect condition by the end of March but she will compete at the World Championships. Miyahara mentioned that she won’t compete for herself, but for the team.

It's good to see that she didn't rush things and has respected the doctor's indications carefully. I won't be surprised if there will be some layout changes... maybe it's better to go back to 3Lz-2T-2Lo / 2A-3T 2A-3T in the free skate. That layout has a higher base value anyway. 3Lz-3T is unfortunately too hard on the body. She's a smart, tough girl so I have no doubt she will fight for Japan's 3 spots.

Good news regarding her recovery and Worlds. The most important thing is for her to stay healthy and not risk her health before Olympic season.

I still hope to see her on Worlds podium somehow. But even to watch her skate there will be more than enough.

lots of health, recovery and positive vibes for Satoko :ghug:

the way she states that she'll compete not for herself, but for the team says a lot about her mentality, spirit of competitor and ability to focus on reasonable goals - as I think that going after injury she had/has focusing this return to competition on doing her best for the team would actually channel her poise, determination and motivation in a right way, taking some 'individual burden' off her shoulders.

I have no doubt Satoko will do her best and give her all on ice - for me, she is one of few skaters I enjoy watching regardless of mistakes or overall result. Her skating, way of performing is very organic, naturally going with the flow of the music and the whole picture created has multiple dimentions and there is always a quality in it.

I am personally just glad and relieved of some sorts that she will be in Helsinki at all to grace the ice with her presence. And for me, the best thing regarding her is to have no expectations specified - she sure feels enough pressure herself and should receive positivity and courage from fans.
