You beat me to it. Although I didn't know who he was when this appeared on twitter. Here's the video, for anyone who wants to translate. I believe the Yuzuru mention is at 1:58, but I didn't watch the whole video.

A cut from korean news, supposedly talking about how 4CC was a success and something about how much money was generated, 680 million won (?) I think.

XDD Yoshiki is like a legend musician in Japan XDD

 guys, let's see how it will go at WC. There is something called rule of nature, you can not force things against the natural process. I am glad that at CC, he spends time to improve his stamina, quality and skating skills more than just become a jumping bean.

I actually think Yuzuru has time on his side, he is not too old so he can afford to add more new jumps (he is still practicing 4lz and who knows maybe one day he will try to do 4A). He is not too young, so he already develops great skating skills and presentation.

;) Yuzuru is the only top man who can do so many difficult transitions with difficult jumps in a complex program like H&L. As his fans, we should be proud. He is the most balanced skater we have out there. He has it all and he does not have to rush and sacrifice one thing for another.

I actually remembered this recently. Yuzuru is 22 right? He's at a good age to do more and keep pushing forward. I look forward to what he comes up with next year because he kept his transitions and skating skills high even as he has upped his quads through the years. I don't think he needs 5 but if he wants 5 I know he'll make them beautiful.

Yuzuru first came up because they were talking about how Yoshiki used to be very weak when he was a child -----> so the interviewer quipped "like Hanyu Yuzuru!"
And then Yoshiki mentioned how last year during Kouhaku they saw Hanyu and Toshi went "Doesn't he look like young Yoshiki?"

:thank: But what did he mean by 'weak'? Is it in a thin/skinny point of view? Or injuries?

Yuzuru's name seem to keep being dropped at the most unexpected places, in a drama, an interview with a singer, a random variety show. lol

I'm such a werdo on this forums being a huge Yuzu fan and a huge Nathan fan...

That's how I felt during Chanyu accolades, being a Patrick and a huge Yuzuru fan. It seems that Nathan X Yuzuru is the 2016-2017 Chanyu. We now only need every thread having the potential of becoming a Nathan X Chen debate at any moment, we're almost there with the 39430480 thread dedicated to this. Now we need a completely unrelated thread to start a Nathan X Yuzuru debate. Then the transition will be complete.

The new friendly Chanyu interactions are getting my awkward fan card slowly taken. And I don't complain.

XDD Yoshiki is like a legend musician in Japan XDD

Thanks for telling me that k. I'm not familiar with japanese music, but I'll search him later on. sorry for my sins jk

About Nathan, maybe it might sound a bit naive, but he stated several times that he really wants to work on components. And I believe that if this is his word, that's the only affirmation that we have about the direction his skating is taking, regardless of which scoring he's getting at the moment. Even though some are exceptionaly gifted in this area since early on, working on components is still a process that usually takes a lot of time if a skater doesn't want to stagnate, so it's not realistic to expect a complete transformation in one season. This generation is incredibly ambitious, and even though working on technnical makes everything else that much harder, I believe it's not impossible to aim higher, Yuzuru shows us for example that being ambitious certainly pays off.

I am definitely comfortable liking multiple skaters. I am enjoying the current skating era and all the awesome skaters that we can love right now.

I said that more because the current landmap seemed to be so sadly Yuzu fans vs Nathan fans, and there have been so much shade thrown from both camps. I like the differences the skaters have to offer, and I really think the current young generation could bring some awesome stuff in the future. I also love how Yuzu is doesn't back down to the challenges from these kids. I don't think there will ever be a skater quite like Yuzu, he's just beautiful.
Sorry, I should have clarified to say that I hope this Fan Fest doesn't make you feel unwelcome or like a weirdo! Evidently you're cool with liking many skaters  I think there's plenty of people who enjoy both Chen and Hanyu, just maybe they're not as vocal as the ones on one side. I agree that there's so much talent in the men's discipline right now and everyone has their own unique styles that there is someone(or many someones) for everyone to enjoy.

I have always watched more womens skating in the past than mens but this year I am just casully watching womens now and obsessing over mens. It's quite a fun era to be a skating fan in general.

Nathan's free program clearly is imbalanced. It has been speculated, with good evidence, on the Nathan thread that there was never any plan to rise as quickly as he has in scoring. He has had so mant injuries that they wanted to focus on getting his jumps for his long and they wanted to get his name out there heading into the olympic year. His long program lacks so much that he is capable of having artisitically, this is not the final product in any way and it's glaringly obvious. Their goal was to get all the jumps consistent, and they've done that. Working with Marina has done a lot for him, and I think having room to improve is good for him and that we will see more strides in ss next year.

Yuzu's skating has improved quite a bit since he was young, his programs as a teen are wild in their energy to me. He was unrefined and it took him a few years to get to the point he has been at for awhile. He has continued to improve year by year and that is one of the things that makes Yuzu so incredible and it is something younger skaters should look up to.

I don't think it is fair to compare now Yuzu to now Nathan, but that is the nature of what happens when a young competitor beats a seasoned vetran.

I'm such a wierdo on this forums being a huge Yuzu fan and a huge Nathan fan...

Well, I think it's only fair to compare now Yuzuru, now Nathan, now any skater... because that's what they're supposed to be judged on. I don't think his long program, being imbalanced, affords display of SS, TR that matches the scores he is given. Nor should the CO be that high, given the imbalance. Nathan's LP PCS scores honestly baffle me the most when I compare them with Jason Brown's. None of this to mean that Nathan's terrible, blah blah blah, because nothing is farther from truth either. Anyway, it is not Nathan's fault and if anything, I only disagree with the judging. But I am of this opinion regardless of win/loss. I think it's fine that Yuzuru was beaten (although I see where you're coming from, there are people who are touchy about the results) I don't have a strong sense one way or the other because Yuzuru had really costly pops. :confused2:

Yeah the scores in general are off, but what's ice skating without scoring issues? The judging every season has a moment that pretty much everyone knows is off. I am kinda in camp, Nathan should get a few more points in his short program and about 8 points less on his long. The judging has been evaluated so many times now I don't think I have anything new to offer on that front. It has been about 50/50 good disucssion vs anger posts on golden skate from what I've seen but the community here is great to read because all the perspecives pretty much cover it.

Completely agree on the lack of discrepancy between the short and long. I really like that short, it's so clearly superior to the long. :scratch2:

*The entire post is A+++ but highlights:*
he's not doing two-footed, upright skating throwing his arms up periodically to obvious accents in the music in front of the judges, he's doing full body movement, getting low in the knees or stretching up high, using all levels of his body, twisting and turning his blades to the music.

Some people criticize him for not being balletic, but he's not telling a story through balletic gestures that happen to be on ice, he's using the language of figure skating. :) His crossovers match the music, his transitions match the music, his jumps match the music.

No element is shoehorned in a way that compromises the music because of an easier jump layout.
...the jumps are important highlights in the choreography. When people say "you can watch it without the jumps", what's the point of the jumps then? Why not integrate them into the choreography and make them important to the music? You should be missing out without the jumps, otherwise that's holistically not a very strong program. And I think this program shows that more than any other of his. I think even if you don't connect with the music emotionally yourself, there's so much to admire in how the program is constructed, the actually core of skating blade-ice vs body movements, the continuity and flow linking all the elements, and the challenge that this program presents.

:points:

This is exactly why I love H&L. At the moment I lack the figure skating knowledge and vocabulary to 100% recognise all the elements going into the program so I could still be missing things and could still grow more fond of this program in time as I learn more about the sport, but even as a new figure skating fan (I was a casual for a while) H&L is a lovely program that displays all of Yuzuru's growth over the years and showcases why he's so highly regarded in the sport. His skating is nuanced, mature and thoughtful, he is emotionally connected and present throughout, you can tell the program is carefully constructed to express a story and specific emotions.Every element is matched to the music, and linked together as a cohesive, coherent whole. His movements ebb and flow with the music, the jumps and spins are placed in areas of the music that make complete sense.

I hate in figure skating when you are watching a program and the elements aren't timed with the music to the point where it seems the music is just there arbitrarily. I hate when it feels like the music and the program have nothing to do with each other, and this season there are examples of this, but H&L is far, far, far from being one of them.
Yuzu has always been thoughtful about matching the program well to the music (except maybe RJ2 which is why I can live without rewatching that routine) but H&L is like the pinnacle of his experience as a competitive skater; the movements and the music are one in the same, nothing is arbitrary, nothing feels like it's there just for the sake of points.

ETA: I wasn't going to mention Nathan but his FS is exactly what I mean by the music and the skate feeling disconnected. It could be so much better is the elements were linked together more and the timings shifted just a touch. The music has multiple points of building a crescendo and breaking which is perfect for an ambitious program filled with big jumps but he doesn't land a single jump on the music and it makes me want to scream. Esp when his short is so much better! I understand what he's doing this season but still.

I guess we're fellow weirdos then :p

Has anyone posted this video of Nathan and Yuzu's 4CC FS without jumps and spins?

Nathan has slightly better skating skills than I give him credit for, but he seems to do a lot of two footed skating. Other than the step sequence, is it just me or does he seem very stiff and not bend his knees much? Have I been spoiled by the deep knee bends of Patrick, Shoma, and Yuzu that now it looks weird since Nathan seems to just skim the ice.

Weirdly tho, Yuzu skates like he floats on ice, which is one of the reason why I enjoy his shaking so much, but I feel like he uses his whole body, but somehow doesn't carve into the ice as deeply. Does that make sense?

Agree with all your observations. Yuzu has incredible speed and softness but it's not generated from his edges (which come and go in his long programs tbh). Probably has something to do with his freakish balance and center of mass lol.

Nathan's basics are very...Russian? Good speed but his skating is kinda angular and stiff in the knees.

more to add to your yuzu fan post!

Our lifelong Yuzu fan won a prize, and said in the article that his dream is to have Yuzuru skate to something he composes. :palmf::luv17: This is so cute >"<
He's the musician boy. I didn't know he released piano version of PW! :o :o Whaaaaat.
Different people, you're hallucinating

Another random Yuzuru mention, at some kind of TV game.

Also the mention at that random variety show. XD The game is that you have to find a common theme amongst the three chips. Yuzu was on one of the chips. He rotates. Papaya Suzuki (an entertainer) turns when he's dancing. Wagaya is a group of three comedians, they take turns at the mic. So the theme is rotation.

Thanks! Is he the same guy from twitter that replicates Yuzuru outfits and met him several times? Or is he that other musician boy that I think even released his version of PW?
Or both are the same person? Or am I hallucinating? lmao

Added it.

Added explanation of the TV game in post above.
I kind of really really really really really want to see Yuzuru skate to that boy's music?! ?! !? HOW CUTE IS THAT. SO CUTE. SO CUTE. AAAAAAAHHHH. :drama:

Yuzuru shall live by these wise words that descended upon this Earth in order to create his Worlds motto: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROTATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jk He can continue being a popstar if he has to, i'm not crucifying him for it. But it must be a very aesthetically pleasing pop with positive GOE across the board or I'm asking for a refund of my nonexistent Worlds ticket.

i am of the opinion that popping is better at 4cc because injuries going into worlds = bad :P aesthetically pleasing pop, or reverse-pop..... 2s-lo-4s :P

If that popping makes him YOLO 3A or even 4Lz, im ok with it

But i hope he doesn't pop anything again :slink:

I think there are quite a few of us who are fans of multiple skaters, so as Unico said, I hope we can be respectful of other skaters and their fans, even within Yuzu's fanfest. Some of us are also Patrick fans, others love Shoma, or Mura, or Nathan or Jason, Boyang.... This Fanfest is HUGE and very diverse, so there will a wide range of opinions, and I hope we can welcome everyone. :ghug:

Yeah you know that, between a pop and a fall I would chose a pop. Yes a fall but fully rotated still get points however it will be punished in PCS. A pop will be punished in BV but it will have less deduction on PCS. So either way they're equal. A pop is less harmful to the general view of a perfomance.

Anyway, I am sure he will change his layout for WC. Maybe finally we can have a BREAK from 4S3T in the second half, who knows.

My wildest guess is that he will just add 4lo3T. But maybe 5 quads will wait for us so be preapared :roll9:
