Hi, I'm another lurker who is finally brave enough to post here. Certain anime made me interested in figure skating, but Yuzu's competitive spirit caught me. He really reminds me of my other favorite Japanese

Btw, I'm wondering if has there been someone making a playlist of Yuzuru's program songs? (Or has the links to them?) Because I can't get H&L songs out off my mind, yet I don't have other way to listen to it beside watching his programs. If there hasn't, I'll try to hunt them myself

And is there FaOI 2015 thread here? I searched it, but all I found is FaOI 2015

I believe the Japanese site you're talking about is niconico? That site is always so fast with all the commentary translations (into Japanese), very impressive.
I think I've heard enough about Ms Nathalie's criticism on Yuzu that it no longer surprises me she doesn't have much nice things to say :sarcasm: Didn't she also having some issues with his costume in some other commentaries too...ahh well, can't please the whole world and she surely represents only a small minority of the world hahaha:handw:

On the other hand, if you don't mind, would you be so kind to consider translating the 2012 World LP commentary? We already have the deux version that's translated by our own Pika on this thread, but there is also this France2 version which is commented by Nelson Monfort, Philippe Candeloro and Annick Dumont (copying straight from the YT clip description) :yay: Would definitely be interested in what they said about our little Romeo back in the days.

As for Nathalie Péchalat... she does say nice things about him though, such as it's obvious how much Yuzu loves skating, and it's infectious and makes his programs unique.
But I must admit that I was shocked by one of her comments, at least I think it was her, some years ago (about R&J 2 I think ? I'll have to check) - she said that she thought it was too bad that men were doing the same kind of stuff as ladies (ina bauer, bielman...), that she would rather that men and ladies kept their specific styles and elements - and about Jason Brown, that he wasn't manly enough...
One of the reasons I love figure skating is that for once you don't have to be your stereotypical macho man in order to win - and Yuzu's androgynous style makes him really unique, a bit alien,yes ((c) Max Ambesi), but totally fascinating. And I love that he's totally comfortable with that idea, about playing both Romeo and Juliet in R&J 2, about playing a manly Prince in LGC and an ethereal fairy-like character in H&L, and even saying that he could have been an onnagata if he had played in kabuki .

About the France TV 2012 World commentary, it had already been translated and I slightly edited the translation here.
I'll probably edit it once more at home, while listening to the video.

This is what I really adore in his character - there are no limits for his perfection and his inner will to improve consistently. This is what a real champion is.

I'm sorry I didn't join in the Yuzu face avatar, but this one I found was just too good not to use. Maybe I should go for a better close-up... *goes fiddle with GIMP*

I changed it again, actually. My first choices were 'the 3T dorkfaces' or the 'Swan chasing dorks', until it finally ended up being just 'the boy band dorks'. And yes, all these photos are labeled dorks in my hard drive.

Yeah I've felt that way about Final Fantasy for years for different skaters, Yuzu included. I can imagine routines to some of the tracks in my mind. Heck I have one in mind for FFXV (the newest one) that I picture Shoma skating to for instance.

Last Saturday I went to Liceu (opera theater in Barcelona) to listen to Thais by Jules Massenet (opera is another great passion of mine). This opera has a beautiful fragment known as 'The Meditation'. I immediately thought of Yuzu skating to it. This music suits perfectly his skating style. I can easily imagine Swan-like EX or maybe even SP.
Then I searched through YT for anybody skating to it and found this.

Well...just dreaming... I am really curious about the music choices for the next season.

I noticed yuzu always did not so good at the beginning of the season.. And did well at the end of season, mainly in gpf.. I just hope he will peak at wc this year and takes world title. About next season, i think it's good to compete with Nathan and PChan before Olympic, so yuzuru will ready and have plans to win Gold medal in Pyeongchang (Yuzu will compete at Nats against Shoma , also he trains with Javi so he knows javi very well). It will be a good experience. About win or not, I just pray the best for him. Still I hope he win all of the title and free injury.

He may not actually compete with Nathan before the GPF if they both podium at Worlds, since the Grand Prix rules doesn't allow the top 3 finishers at Worlds to have the same assignments. Same with Patrick, though at this point I'm afraid it's more of a question if Patrick can podium than if Nathan can.

It was mentioned in this thread before (by Meioma, I think... sorry if I'm wrong, I have terrible memory) that this season Yuzu has maintained an overall good condition.... I mean, it's difficult to pinpoint if he has had his peak? Or if he is yet to peak at Worlds? He didn't have a SP and LP back to back in which he cleanly skated the planned layout, yet, but overall his results were not terrible. In any case, this season is not very comparable to his previous ones due to his injury, which both gave him a late start into the season and also seemed to have affected him mentally, matured him even, regarding how he takes care of his body. (I think we are all glad to observe the latter effect.)

Now, I wonder how he and his team will be able to reflect their experiences from this season on the next season? I mean, part of how his peak was "adjusted" was artificial, due to injury... is it possible to learn from this season at all?

The outcome of this season is still in the stars so maybe it's too early to discuss... But I'm also generally intested in how his coaching team can try to adjust his peak. Make him train less? Or jump less?
