2017 Worlds Helsinki Info and Chat

I wonder if this applies to small Rugzak bags as well or just luggage ?
A rugzak is so normal, that should be fine! Luggage really is stuff like suitcases and rugzaks the size of a suitcase that one might use for outdoor camping.
Yeah, I'm guessing small rucksacks, ladies handbags of any size, carrier bags etc will be fine... but suitcases (or anything with wheels), probably not...?

I guess you missed this :-D

Great, I'm so happy. When I last checked the FAQ it wasn't there... It was so boring there when I watched ice-hockey and no wi-fi. At least one improvment. I hope they won't give the noise making thingies that they usually give at Finlandia Trophy. Too much to ask, maybe.

Great news on the Wifi. I emailed about it a couple months ago and was told no. Maybe enough people asked about it. It's almost expected now. Anyway, thx for the info.

ETA - No on the noise thingies!

Only 2,5 weeks to go! For me that is since I'll be working there from Monday 27th

Just received the latest newsletter.
Due to the delightfully large number of competitiors, there will be changes to the original schedule. These changes will be updated to our webpage. Follow the situation here.
Long days, I guess...

-Yes, Tallinn is good. A nice Finnish city 50 km from Helsinki, 50 minutes by bus, is Porvoo. Visitporvoo.fi
It's lovely in summer and maybe this time, too.
If you want to skate yourself: jaapuisto.fi, it's Ice park in the City center.
Nice and expensive cafes in Helsinki (3) Fazer cafes. www.Fazer.fi ( kahvilat ja leipomot > cafe). I love their chocolates, at Easter they'll have lovely Mignon Easter eggs.
If it's cold, there's a big shopping center in Itäkeskus, 15 min by metro from the centre, itis.fi

And then a new and great place if you want to go to sauna:
www.loylyhelsinki.fi

Do you know if Jaapuisto is still open? I'll be in Helsinki on 14-15 and 21-22 and I want to go ice skating.
Is this too early for the practice sessions? Is there anything I can do Worlds related? If not I'm just happy to skate myself and spend time in Helsinki, it's my first time there.

About Jääpuisto.. I e-mailed them and asked.. on their website they only have the opening hours, Mon-Fri 14 - 21 and Sat-Sun 10-21, but I guess it depends on the weather how long they'll have it open. At least now we have some snow in the forests and ice on the sea ( a little), so it's open allright. And on 19 March they'll have some event with our top ice-hockey men there... So let's hope it'll be open during the Worlds .
Worlds related, something else... well, I'm not sure yet. I usually check the event calendar to find out (one week ahead). But I'll be sitting at the arena from morning to late in the evening most days, so if there is something in the city centre, I'll probably miss it. I'll write more if someone answers me.

Thank you! I won't be there for the Worlds. I would've left Finland by then. Unfortunate timing. But I was hoping they would have some figure skating related events while I am there. And if any figure skating fans want a meet up at Jaapuisto, let me know. :) We can go for a skate. :)

We still have no meet up plans! I don't want to skate, but I would happy to meet in a cafe or restaurant.

Have you already found this: http://hartwallarena.fi/en/visitors/directions-maps

In meetings, I would avoid hamburger restaurants and those which are near main entrances. Those are usually most crowded during events. I have never been in Arena, but I compare to Messukeskus near Arena and there it is like that. In Arena seems to bet also some restaurants you can go without a ticket, like this: http://hartwallarena.fi/en/visitors/food-drink/niemi-center. Finnish explanation is a little bit different to the English one. But some of those need reservation in advance. Also we need to know do people want to eat, have just coffee or just need without eating or drinking anything. Have to go now, but will look for opportunities little bit later.

I live in Helsinki but I'm at work. I could come on 15 March after work so around 4.30 p.m. maybe to the cafe at Jääpuisto. I don't think I'll skate. On 14 and 21 March I have plans for the evening, work related.

Hi! I can do 15th at 4:30pm. I can do anything. I am up for anything. But cafe at Jaapuisto sounds great. :)

Hi, I'm from Italy.

There is someone that wants to divide hotel from March 26 to April 2?

Do you know the schedules of practices on Monday 27?

OK, I'll be there, I'll wear a purple winter coat, I have brown hair and eyes (163 cm tall, female). Maybe I'll have the Finnish flag with me.
