ohh if that the case why not change the layout for World, like
3A-1lo-3S to 3lutz-1lo-3S
and the last jump 3lutz to 3A
is that any different for point wise?

Because he trusts his 3A more than he does his 3Lz? It can't be that easy to jump a combination of jumps, so you need your strongest jump for that.
That - or he wants a more impressive combination. He'll have his reasons to be doing what he does. In fact, his 3Lz was fine this year - apart from GPF, when he changed his Ina Bauer entry and lost his speed because of it. Shame - the transition's so beautiful...

yeahh apart from the fall and pops, the GPF is my fav H&L performance :(

Omg I just realised something- Yuzuru seems to have an outstanding season every other season:

2009-2010 wins everything on the Junior Circuit
2010-2011 does ok, wins silver medal 4cc but doesn't stand out
2011-2012 wins bronze at worlds starts to be seen as a threat
2012-2013 breaks WR (but we'll ignore that because it breaks my pattern) but apart from that the much happens and the season isn't brought up much in the he future
2013-2014 wins GPF goes over 100 WINS OLYMPICS + WC
2014-2015 crash :( rest of the season he seems to be trying to recover from that (though he does win GPF)
2015-2016 breaks WR TWICE is seen as legend
2016-2017???

...so does that mean he's going to do amazing 2017-2018 (please please please)

+ the Sochi silver then gold and Peongchang silver IT'S ALL A SIGN

Or I could just be going crazy with my speculating

Although they have the same base value regardless of what combination is jumped, only the 3A combos are actually factored at 1. A 3Lz combo would be factored at 0.7, I believe, meaning the max GOE it could get would be 2.10, whereas a 3A combination can get a maximum of 3 GOE, just like quads. So yes, having his combos on 3A does make a difference point wise and he won't and shouldn't change them.

Ahh make sense, and to think he ever won with 0.33, keep the current layout seem to be the best options then

his good jump? :roll9:
OMG the way he land it this season made me think otherways :drama:

Actually, he's had about a 50% success rate with it? He landed it at SC and NHK, singled it (at GPF) due to issues with the Ina Bauer fiddling he was doing and only actually fell on it at Autumn Classic, at the beginning of the season, where his stamina was at its worst. You can see he was exhausted by the end of that FS; it wasn't a technique issue so much as fatigue. He shouldn't be having issues with his 3Lz from now on (knock on wood).

Yeahh maybe I was abit leave behind coz I only discovered Yuzu last December :sad4:

So I tried hard to catching up at everything, watching his past competition, reading all the article ect. Even at first I can't different the jump, and now I can be proud of my self, atleast now I can tell which is the Lutz and which is the flip

This fan fest helping me so much tho :) as a new fan

actualy I noticed it too, thats way I have faith he will win the 2nd OGM

or..16-17 just not his season

Yuzu's senior career
10-11 he didn't won anything, bad season(but he was a kiddo so I can understand)
11-12 first ever won his GP series, make it to GPF, won bronze in WC, good season
12-13 2nd in GPF, won Nats but hated by Takahasi's fans, placed #4 in WC, bad season
13-14 won GPF, NATS, OLY, WC, very good season
14-15 oh boy I can't say bout his GP series even he won GPF, lost to Javi in WC, bad season
15-16 altho he lost in WC, I call it good season coz his broke the world record, it's a big deal in Figure Skating history
16-17 he won GPF but WD from nats..the rest is still in the air

Yuzuru Hanyu

The pressure on him is very great, but it is not new to him. Does it mean he is comfortable with it? I do not know, but this has been part of his life since 2014. This is why part of me really wants Shoma to excel at World's... to kind of help ease Yuzu's burden... but I doubt that would help that much because so much of the pressure is the perfection that he expects from himself.

We just have to trust that training is going well. If he is physically ready, I have faith. Last year and this year are entirely different situations.

Well....Shoma just broke 300 points at CdP which could lead to a good showing at worlds (I also want Shoma to do well haha) but I don't know if that really eases Yuzu's burden. I guess it could to know there's another Japanese skater that is in the top tier and is capable of taking podium but with more skaters hitting 300 it puts a lot of pressure on pretty much everyone to skate with few mistakes, the margin for error is getting narrower and narrower because there's a lot of skaters who have the potential for gold and you never know who's going to skate clean.
I feel kinda bad for Yuzu because there's the pressure he puts on himself, the pressure of the rising competition, and the pressure from fans/the general spectators' expectations of him. No wonder he's having mental blocks this season.

He's strong and I think he can rise to it but it's gotta be rough. I have a lot of faith in him and I think he can peak at worlds but...

(Also because of his bad season-good season trend I'm kinda okay if this ends up being a season of silver and he doesn't take gold at worlds hahaha but I guess it depends on who beats him and why)

I'm working overload, but I always find time to reach out and update information about our boy. I could not fail to thank the wonderful translations of Fayruza, Gladiolusc, Liha, Shayla and all who are keeping this thread excited. Thank you for your hard work and untiring.
I believe that Yuzu had not changed the layout of his programs. It is safer to perfect what he already has, but I will support him in what he decides. I trust and believe in our boy genius, for me the result does not matter, but I want him to win the gold because that's what he deserves and makes him happy.

Since Yuzu himself is super superstitious about everything, I can see him thinking the same if he does win silver in Pyeongchang this year.
And if silver now means gold later, I'll choose it instead the other way around

CdP is not an ISU sactioned competition. So the scores there do not get counted in ISU system.

We shall see if he will finally peak at WC. Knowing him I highly doubt he will be clean back to back at WC this season. But he is building up so maybe he can have better perfromances than 4CC.

Eh I mean more even if it's not isu sanctioned it's likely to boost Shoma's confidence going into worlds and help him perform well there. Meanwhile Yuzu is just taking his burning fire of wanting gold and getting silver again at 4CC to worlds...

Let's wait for WC and you will see.
Yuzuru has better mentality than people give him credit for. As the Russian commentators' remark, last season he was considered "god" so the pressure was immense. He is not considered "god" this season so he will be in a better mentality for WC.
(aside from the skating order issue, and even with that, he still has done well enough to win silves and golds in positions against him).

Meoima is being positive so there is no choice for me but to follow her lead :p Tbh I'm not worried about the mentality of Yuzuru at all, he has actually consistently podium-ed while skating under terrible physical conditions as well as unbelievable mental pressure. I'm more worried about the kind of scoring policy that has lately become prevalent *cough cough* :rolleye: but as long as he does what he does he should be fine. Actually, I'm not sure why people think he's mentally fragile? When has he not been a fighter until the end... and beyond?

I do not believe that he will be clean back to back at WC this time. But at the same time I do think he will improve his condition by the time of WC.

I don't expect it, but I hope for it. This year may be the first time he's ever skated at worlds while not being heavily injured/sick/some combination of the above (FINGERS CROSSED) and he's in fighting form after 4CC... I have faith in him and I hope that the skating gods smile upon him after these many years of hard seasons...

I don't think he's mentally fragile XD Fragile is a word that doesn't belong anywhere close to Yuzuru...

I hope for a good WC and I believe he could skate clean at WC but I don't expect it. I hope and wish and dream but all we can do is wait and see ~

4CC 2017 LP
CCTV5

M= male commentator
F = female commentator
*they call him by the Chinese pronunciation of his name, Yǔshēng jié xián. But I'm just going to say Yuzuru so we don't get confused

(after Shoma's LP)
M: I think today's competition is still gonna be mainly between Chen and him.
F: Yuzuru Hanyu is all of Asia's first Olympic champion for the Men's singles figure skating event. He's also the champion of every major competition, like the Grand Slam winner. This program's music is from Joe Hisaishi's Hope and Legacy.
M: We don't really know how he is. Because just a few months ago didn't we hear that he got sick?
F:A little, true.
M:We don't know how he'll be in this overcoming situation, because you rest, you still have to recover your training.

(program starts. I think they closed the mic because nothing at all during the actual performance)

F: Wow, a very unbelievable set of moves. I'm afraid to say it's a perfect, beautiful masterpiece, but I think after seeing this I can really relate to why some people think +3 GOE is not enough and we should have +5.
M:I agree, some elements from competitors before, you have +1, +2 compared to Yuzuru's +3...you feel like it's a bit of a loss. You want to apologize, you want to give him more.
F:You feel ashamed, with such high quality elements you can only give him +3. Ah really, he lit up the arena/crowd and gave it life and enthusiasm. Compared to some before, seeing this makes you think, it really is extremely worth the watch.
M:A really high quality competition! Today his performance, apart from in the second half his 4T-3T, he completed all his elements. But that combo, he popped it and lost points there. But later, he completed his elements with pretty good quality. Just consider it he completed two 4T and two 3A , and all completed really well! So they're all +GOE moves.
F:Apart from that 4T-3T in the second half- that was the only element in his planned layout that that he didn't do. All the others were beautiful.
M:Yeah, very high quality- landed cleanly and with neat completion. So talking from an athletic point of view, you can complete this program but you can't possibly be 100% perfect on the every front. So with the performance and components that he already gave, especially with this level of difficulty, is already...And there is so much physical strength and training required for each quad. But today slightly, I personally feel because of the difficulty and pressure to defend his reputation against the younger Nathan Chen and Jin Boyang was really great. So today on the performance side he put a little less heart than usual. I'm not saying it was below my standards, but compared to his standards.
F:Mm, yeah not a vertical comparison but a horizontal one (I don't really know what she means?). He seemed a little less emotional today.
M:Yeah, simply because he put all his effort into how to complete his elements.
F:Still *sighs*, he's already really good. Today this performance makes you feel. So close to the end, and he's still able to maintain such height, distance, and beautiful landings in his jumps.
M:Because you see, his body is in the thin side so you might not think he's particularly strong. How can he maintain such strength, even till the very end? That means his technique is very good, and he was able to pace his program really well.

(KnC)
F:Yuzuru Hanyu. Before this competition, he is the consecutive 4-time GPF champion. To him, the 4CC gold is still not something he owns. Today, he looks like he's looking forward to it (seeing his scores). Maybe he can add another medal to the ones he owns. A new gold.
M:Usually because of the rules, he can repeat a quad two times. If you have two types of quads, you can do four quads.
F:Let's see the scores.

(Yuzu says yaaay!)
F:"Yaaay" , we heard him say :D TES 112.33, PCS 94.34. Both the highest marks so far. They combine for 206.67. Also his personal best this season. And the highest at this competition so far.
M:The first competitor to break 300 pts. He got 303 pts.

Okay I know I said I thought it would be too hard to translate, but it actually wasn't that bad. Maybe because I know Yuzu's layout so I knew what to expect. Anyway, I get the feeling both commentators really really like Yuzu. They kept on gushing about how every jump is so HQ. I like them because they're pretty respectful and they don't talk over the performance.

Well Yuzu did say after 4cc that he believes that no one is capable of beating him if he skates clean. And that he only considers his performance to be his if he skates clean.
Well that's the truth and he knows it. but saying this will definitely give him more pressure. then again, it'll boost his fighting spirit.
