Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

I just stocked up 2 wine bottles for World. ahh.. I forgot to buy my dark chocolate. I will need them.

I also have 1 Rum, 1 Whisky in case of extreme disaster.

My friends gave me two bottles of Veuve Clicquot for Christmas. I was looking for a good ocasion to open it, so we (my mother and I) decided to celebrate with it if Yuzu wins Worlds. If not the bottle goes straight to GPF or Olys. The good thing is that I have two bottles, so...

Oh are we suddenly moving to Yuri on Ice world where GPF is the it thing? That is fine with me.

You will see me a lot during practice but at the actual event I would probably be nowhere to be found hahahaha. That is the most torture. But I will be here (in this thread) anxiety-ridden and nervous with everybody most of the time

More like in Yuzuru's world where he skate ridiculously good at GPF and no other more important competition will happen after that.

Do you think Yuzu will go to practice in the main rink on Thursday morning before SP? I am afraid not But if yes, then I have to buy tickets as soon as possible.

I bought tickets and dearlyyyy hope he will practice there because it will be my only chance to see him in UA

I've never drank before...does alcohol taste nice
I swear watching 4cc live stream almost killed me. I ended up not watching the long program. (and uh he did better...maybe I should just not live stream anymore )

my first live stream for big competition was GPF and I did need both wine and chocolate for free skate.

Alcohol kind of keeps your nerves a little calmer. Chocolate is very important for your heart.

I was in S.Korea for 4CC and I was barely alive after short programme since I attended all practices for men and all competitions from other disciplines. The weather was too cold for me too.

FS was better but I could barely breathe during Yuzu's skate. I enjoyed the exhibition most. It was so serene during Notte Stellata. Everyone (even the elderly S.Koreans who were there just for the sake of being in Olympic arena, who don't quite care about skating) was amazed and the whole arena was under his spell. It was truly magical, I wish I could experience that again.

But what is wrong with GPF? You have to skate well in two competitions and qualify for the final and then win it. Isn't it more difficult then win Worlds? I wonder why being GPF champion is somewhat less important then being World champion. Because the whole competition is younger then Worlds? It makes me sad for Yuzu

Nothing wrong with GPF, I consider it to be more prestigious than 4CC and Euro currently, tbh, and it is considered to be a prestigious championships too. But worlds are worlds, it went way back to the late 1800s. You don't hear the likes of Dick Button, Peggy Flemming, Nepela, Katarina Witt etc became the GPF champion but they are all world and olympic champion so it will always be more prestigious than GPF due to its historical significance. The other reason is because of the fact that you have to enroll in GP series. Many top skaters do not even bother to fully compete in the grand prix series once they won big titles for instance.

That, and most athletes try to peak at Worlds, and not at GPF (well, tbh only Yuzu peaks at GPF XD), making Worlds the competition where you're supposed to see the athletes at their best level (except during olympic years, obviously).
But still, Yuzu has been n° 1 in the ISU ranking for years, it doesn't count for nothing

But, yeah, it's time Yuzu takes his world title back !

I think he will go to both MR/PR on Monday and on MR on Tuesday, but skip the one on the practice rink on Tuesday afternoon.

It would be risky not to practice on MR on Thursday, even if it will be early in the morning. So now I think he will go.

I always thought that the GP series make GPF more spesial, like MotoGP or F1

Recently GPF has had more weight than European and 4CC. He has won GPF 4 times in a row, no one has ever done rhat before. It's a big deal. It's just not the most important event in FS. That's all.
