Alexander Petrov

Yeah, he didn't go, I tuned in to the live stream just to be completely sure. Senior mens SP has already started.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately (here and elsewhere).
I have a fever and also problems with my career so I'm unable to post much this week. But hopefully next week things will get better.

Sorry to hear this - get well soon (& more importantly - before next week!); and sorry that your career woes are still ongoing. I can only hope that at the end of all this, you will find something really, really good to make up for all the anxiety & stress you have suffered.

I bumped into Tatiana Flade twice today. Also walked past Yaroslav Paniot and some female skaters I didn't recognize. That's all I have to report for today.

I hope all goes well tomorrow. I'm really nervous for Sasha.

Morning folks.
So far practices are not open to public. Volunteers stationed outside the training areas to ensure that none without a pass gets into practice sessions.

Sasha just skated. His score is 81.29, and he's currently 2nd with 5 left to skate.

He was underscored. For real.

Sasha's skating is more beautiful live than on video. And the outfit shimmers like gold. In person, he really is a "golden boy". Photos don't do him justice, I am not kidding.

I bumped into Samohin (the dad) twice, Rumiantseva once and saw Samarin, Uspenski and Sokolovskaya from a short distance. I didn't say hi to the first two because I didn't want to inhale secondhand smoke. I also saw Kogan in the hallway.

And Sasha doesn't "skate small" at all. He needs a bit more speed but he has good ice presence. Very striking looking on the ice. Jump technique is immediately obvious. Very straight axis and tight rotation. Flow on landing is outstanding. The axel is flawless.

Agreed 100%. It's crazy how seeing his jump technique live compares to other skaters' since his is so clean and polished. Something I must say though, when I first saw him (2014??) it was even more impressive since he was a lot younger and smaller in size.

He might very well be the last young skater with true Mishin technique on all jumps. I say this with great seriousness.
