I hope Satoko takes care of her health, that should come first. Though I realize it's probably in vain.
She has been taking care of her health; she WD from 4CC and AWG, took 4 weeks of rest, stopped doing jumps that required putting pressure on her left hip and listened to the doctor's instructions.

Nobu said the injury is the result of her overtraining to correct her toeloop technique. I only hope for people who are constantly saying she's deliberately not fixing her technique (because she can get away with it) to remember the hardships she's going through right now.

Anyway she's officially on the Worlds entries list so I pray for her to do well with the pressure of getting 3 spots for the Olympics after coming back from a serious injury.

Who is Andrea Kobayashi, the person who made the list?

Because Google can be scary, it tells us Andrea Kobayashi is a long term resident of Japan who collects knitting machines, writes haiku in English and is interested in painting, drawing and walking. So since figure skating is not even listed as an 'interest' I doubt very much she's even a 'big fan', and overall, nobody we should pay attention to. Her list is ample proof of that. It's probably a regular thing, send in your faves list, in that column.

This person is intoxicated/drugs? I think Satoko is better than Marin, though I know that many people dislike her, but what about Shizuka?!!!! :roll5:
That link points to japantimes.

Which generally means, a bunch of clickbait tabloid garbage, from Doesn't-Know-Jack Gallagher.
Your reaction is exactly what that type of "journalist" is hoping for...!

Personally, I'm not going to help generate income for Gallagher, by clicking...

I hope Satoko will be okay for worlds. I'm a bit worried about her. Medaling isn't really that crucial for her this year but keeping those spots for Japan is. I'm hoping she can skate well.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for Marin. Of all the juniors competing at worlds this year she is the complete package. However, her inconsistency really hurts her, plus she's going up against Zagitova and Tsurskaya...it's going to be an uphill climb for her.

I'm worried about satoko and wakaba at worlds this year. Satoko doesn't get THE highes PCS so she can't afford any mistakes. And what if the caller is shin amaro?
Mai is looking strong; a top 6 finish is possible. Next year I hope she gets a serious makeover and a great piece of music.

March 15 - Satoko Miyahara is back to full training, jumping 3-3 and doing run-throughs. However, she's still dealing with pain.

JSF official Yoshiko Kobayashi: "She's the type of kid who can tolerate pain. The triple toeloop makes her leg hurt so it's still restricted. However she is carefully following the instructions of the doctor and the trainer." Kobayashi said she's not 100% yet and she's doing preparations cautiously.

Coach Mie Hamada: "We are worried about any negative effects this may have on the next season so we will constantly evaluate her situation until Worlds."

Wishing Satoka the best at Worlds. Sorry to hear that she is still dealing with pain.
Fingers and toes crossed that things go smoothly for her!

This just makes me want to cry! Poor Satako!

Mie Hamada is saying things as they are: "Satoko is far from perfect"

While JSF is comfortably stating that Satoko is the type of kid who can put up with pain (therefore it's okay to sacrifice her as long as they get 3 spots), Mie Hamada says she's ready to pull her out of Worlds if her condition gets worse.

Satoko is practicing while taking pain relief medication. Her team is carefully thinking about the consequences in the long run. Satoko's withdrawal increases the chances of Japan losing one spot but at the same time they had nobody to replace her with. Rika Hongo is also injured and exhaused from all the competitions she's been sent to and Kanako Murakami is not reliable. In case they do lose a spot, I believe it's JSF's failure.

JSF doesn't care if Satoko injures herself while keeping 3 spots. Her coach is correct. She should look out for her student and put her interests first. Olympics is next year. She's never been. She should be an Olympian at least once.

Now, can she reduce difficulty and stay in the 5-8 range and hopes Mai also stays in the 5-8 range? So far, when they downgrade her, it's usually on the combo or the flip. If she doesn't do any 3T combo and skates super clean, i think they might be able to keep 3 spots.

I think a lot depends on the North American skaters. There is Ashley who is fairly reliable and then the you have the two crazy Canucks and the unpredictable Bell and Chen both capable of doing another Nagasu or Gold 4th place or even medal or bombing. If 4 of the 5 North Americans beat two of the Japanese ladies it will be super tough for Japan to hold on to three spots when you factor in the Russians and Carolina. Forget the Korean, Chinese et al.

Oh dear. Obviously, Satoko's health should be the top priority here, but I have a feeling that even if she's only 70% recovered, JSF will probably still send her. Like you said, Rika and Kanako aren't really contenders to grab spots at the moment.
It's looking pretty bleak, but if even if Satoko does go, she'll have to place at least 6th. I have faith in Mai to skate with relative consistency so she might hit around 7th if she's on a good day and the judges boost her a little in PCS. Wakaba is very strong when she does hit, but she hasn't really had one perfect performance (as far as I can recall). That leaves 5 ladies to go ahead of Satoko.

Evgenia, Ashley, Anna, Carolina, and Kaetlyn can all go ahead of Satoko even at her best. Keep in mind she still has to beat Maria, Karen, Gabby, Elizabet, Mariah, and even Dabin. It's going to be an uphill climb. Maybe Mai and Wakaba will surprise us, but 3 spots is looking awfully shaky.
