Could you elaborate on what you mean by brute? I don't like telegraphing. Like Pogo is notorious for telegraphing her lutz. I don't even know her layout but I can see it coming a mile away.

Like "muscling" the jumps and using the upper body to rotate rather than letting the skating edge cause the rotation, maybe?

What does telegraphing mean?

I don't know what to call it, since English is not my first language and I'm still very new in FS. I googled telegraphing and yes that bothers me too.
But what I meant is more like Evgenia (and a lot of other skaters) does. When she's about to do a toe jump, she raises his leg so far and all of her body obviously looks tense when hitting the ice. You can see clearly how she moves all her energy to that leg so she can jump that you don't even need to see the slo-mo to see it.
I understand jumping is hard, but it throws me out of the program. Especially if the program is supposed to be executed delicately.

Meanwhile, Yuzu does it with ease that sometimes I don't realize it's a toe jump.

I hope this is clear enough :hopelessness:

Not sure if anyone mentioned, but I faintly rmb Yuzu said after Sochi that he practised 4A and is about 75% towards completion. So I would assume he's at least somewhat there now? Still, I don't think he'll actively practice it before Olympics. Unless, Maybe he's already there and secretly hiding it... (Jk but u never know)

I'a a fan of Jun and Aliev too, I really like japanese boys too. But lately I read that only 6 junior world champions became senior world champion, so who knows, and with all those quads it's more and more difficult.

True, I think 7 though not 6, and 4 of them become olympic champion (Petrenko, Yagudin Plushenko, Hanyu) while the WC+JWC who didn't get to become OGM is Takahashi (who got bronze) and Todd eldredge + Alexander Fadeev (finish 4th).

Other fun facts : Petrenko won JWC when he was 14, Yagudin won his at the age of 15/16, Plushenko won his at the age of 14, Hanyu won his at the age of 15.
Legends dominate from such young age

In worlds? Also, pls let your dream come true.

olympics (in the dream i'm in the crowd screaming XD)

I am also having recurring dreams (day dreams and sleep dreams haha) that he sets a new WR at worlds though  That's why I'm feeling pretty positive he's gonna do well. He's healthy, he's hella motivated and the universe is telling me he's going to nail it XD

You have beautiful dreams.:)

I think you are right, I noticed that also with Evgenia and other skaters. And it happens with other jumps as well, with long preparation skaters tend to forget about music, arm movements etc.

It reminds me...we didn't see that second 4T coming in 4CC FS

The fantastical bullet point called "wow factor" should suffice. Summons GOE candy like rainfall...

+1

I don't know if what you meant is toe-hammering or mule kick; or simply just that she muscled her jump? I don't think Evgenia has toe-hammering/mule kick problems. She muscled her jump so hard though. Yuzuru has great springiness and fantastic attack on his jumps. His technique is also outstanding so he doesn't need to muscle his jump, thus the effortlessness ;) He gets off-axis once in a while though, but I am being extra nitpicky here.

Tbh I tend to find the jumps of the quadsters quite ugly... I guess there's a beauty in them that can only come with very good skating skills, and that they don't have ? I don't know how to translate this impression in technical words, probably a question of flow :)

*googling* not necessarily a mule kick, at least for Zhenya. It's just so obvious for me how hard she's trying to get that jump. That's why I called it 'brute', because sometimes it looks so scary and stands out like a sore thumb between a very smooth skating. I do have to read more about technical now *sigh*

Meanwhile, Yuzu? He really jumps like a cat lol. His knees look like it has springs in them.

Btw, is Yuzu good in 'saving' jumps? I saw some of how Javi saved his nearly fallen jumps with amusingly balancing his body.
But I suppose Yuzu is rarely in that kind of situations

It is more about the landing and rushed flow out of the jump that bothers me most. It just gives the impression of something like "I want to be done with quads as soon as possible". I wonder, do the young quadsters love their quads as much as Yuzu loves his?

That 4lo saved at GPF really was something .

Well, there's the 4lo which floria mentioned and 3A at GPF ex too. There's more too I think he's pretty good at making almost falls looks like part of the choreography haha

Although I'm not dreaming anything about Yuzu (sadly), but I can feel the universe telling me he'll succeed too.

Me too! The beauty of Yuzu's jumps is definitely in the flow and whatever work he puts in to make these toe jumps roll like water... I think it's also in the lightness of his jumps. He doesn't look like he comes crashing down hard (pet peeve 1), nor does he drag his toes on the ice at landing (pet peeve 2). At his best, his jumps are landed like feathers :luv17::luv17:

Ah that 3A! How could I forget that? :drama:
At first watch, I was like, "What kind of choreography is that?" then after I read comment I realized he just saved his jump lol

That's the reason his injury risk isn't as much as other quad jumpers, right?

Seriously, at this point, I can call them as quadhoppers instead bcos most of them aren't impressive
I'm not so impressed with Vincent's too, tho it looks less harmful than Nathan to me
