Don't know, most of those wax figures just scare the guts out of me. They look ghoulish.
But OK, people seem to be taking part in a competition in how best to ruin Yuzuru Hanyu's good looks.

I say they are failing. That wax thing doesn't look like him, so it doesn't count ;)

and whether this slightly odd salchow technique is why we have the combo of doom :slink:

You mean the weird entrance he visualize? I thought he changed that already  Besides, majority of skaters enter their 4S from series of mohawk and 3 turn, he probably just change the combination of it to have that curve/straight line entry or whatever he wants (don't remember). I'd say his eagle-3-mohawk-4S-eagle to be a more unconventional way of doing 4S.

The sad thing is that they actually tried quite hard to make it look like him... but something's just wrong. The smile is wrong... the skin is wrong... so it went straight into uncanny valley.

I think his beauty can't be replicated in a 3d medium haha.
Unless...
We can make our own featuring Yuzu now...

Still people come and take their pictures with this thing taking it for Yuzuru Hanyu... so they've committed a serious crime there!

Maybe it looks better in real life? And i think i would take a pic with it without the face, i mean...
It is the PW costume...

Yeah, the only reason the thing should be there is for everyone to look and wonder how this thin a person is capable of rotating quads, I guess.

Wow he said this? I never read this before, is it a written article or interview, if I might ask?
Thank you for telling me. It is always interesting to see why he does every little thing he does regarding his skating choices. Always amazed to see the reason, the philosophy, the ideals and the effort he put in, in order to materialize it.

ETA : though I can't help but wonder if this rather unconventional way of doing his 4T is causing him his lisfranc. I hope not

Oh in the longish Ice Jewel interview. It was in the axel section, but

I’ve always said things to the effect of “jumps are transitions," and I think the axel demonstrates this very well. Precisely because it’s forwardly launched, the axel conveys a special “sense of turn.” Toe jumps tend to put a stopper on the flow each and every single time, although I’ve always made it not look that way.

Maybe I didn't translate it very well. Basically like he made effort for it not to look that way.

No it's not you it's me. It is a very long interview so likely I would not even remember every single thing he said. :laugh2: It is such a heavy and packed interview that I need to read over and over to fully comprehend every details, and so many technical stuff there, amazing  Have I told you how ILUSM for translating it :luv17:
sending you candies and cupcakes virtually

It's the hair that sticks out like a sore thumb for me...:noshake:

To be quite honest, wax figures are just so damn creepy, regardless of whom they're of.

There is a statue in a bench, right?
And iirc it also failed at replicating his beautiful smile...

I think because Yuzu's face is so animated when he smiles or laughs or does pretty much anything that involves expression, capturing it in wax or clay or stone is like trying to make a statue in motion. You really can't.
