Try watching Sadovsky's FS. I wonder what they were thinking in CC to give Roman that program... Yuzu was 17 when he skated this, Roman is 17 now? That's around the only thing in common..
Though I quite enjoyed Roman's flow!

I believe that Brian has since acknowledged Yuzuru's foresight in working on his quad loop this season in preparation for the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics. The white-haired Japanese gentleman who always accompanies Yuzuru to all of the competitions is Kikuchi-san, Yuzuru's personal trainer and therapist. Since the 2014 COC, the JSF has assigned one or two bodyguards to accompany Yuzuru to his competitions.

Roman's RJ he kept from last year, so it isn't from tcc unless they changed some choreography for this season.

Yes exactly! Speaking of RJ1, the 12 worlds version doesn't have 5 quads and isn't the most refined skate in the world, not to mention he fell flat on his face, but it's talked about and watched even now. It's beautiful and it touched a lot of people through the strength of his performance. As much as he loves upping tech and winning, I don't think he'll ever let go of his ideals - which have been consistent for his entire career.

Well that was unfortunate, but I agree that the passion in that performance touched many (including myself of course).

Actually the fact he was rough around the edges back then was ideal for the character of Romeo. I think he's going to be looked upon as one of the best Romeos ever...
And that makes me wonder whether there's any Juliet to match him - if any female skater has been able to convey that young passionate, stubborn and free-spirited Juliet who just dives headfirst into that first love of hers...

It seems that Yuzuru has a new fan...
Today when i came back from japanese classes, i was holding my binder with LGC Yuzu on the front. I told my grandma that i was back and i waved at her with the binder. And she said "Sweetie don't put that boy so close to my face, i can't handle the butterflies in my stomach!"

Also I am watching this right now and it reminded me of the discussion about Yuzu's junior days and his innate grace on ice... truly special this boy.

I felt like the fall gave it character
I think the fall and his subsequent getting up and doing 3a/3t was actually one of the biggest reasons the crowd really got behind him. I mean, they were already captivated, but everyone loves the skater who gets back up after a fall and nails the next jump which shows guts and that is exactly what happened. After that combination, he owned them, especially by continuing to show grit.

It was wild. So many blaming and frustration and uncertainties and anger and depression lol.
It was actually the first time I de-lurk and post too, because everybody is either gloomy or angry
I was really sad, because I don't know if he would be able to skate again, or at least if he would be able to jump and skate to the same level as he did in the recent GPF that just passed. :sad21: We were even thinking if he would skip the season to fully recover, or GP series at least. So many worst case scenario playing in our head. The first time I saw him again was that FaOI video and I swear it was so emotional. The moment we saw the first video in instagram where he was stroking, we were so delighted and in euphoria.
Actually looking back, how he did this season is light years better than I imagined. Though I lamented a lot about the combo-that-must-not-be-named, I think considering his injury and how long he has been off-ice, he did really stellar! I seriously don't know if he will skate again after I heard about his injury news, so I think right now as long as he is relatively healthy, I would be more than glad. :sad4: We can't really take how important his health is for granted.
I was in Boston so I wasn't able to hang around here but I do remember my eyes being a little watery the next morning and that's probably when it sank in. The night before I was probably more in a state of shock and slightly bummed, and it helped to meet some longtime friends for drinks and we were talking about other things. I think for me it was mainly the regret that I missed seeing him be so so good in the short. I didn't blame him since it's not like that's how he intended to skate. It just happens sometimes. I just wanted to see those beautiful jumps and that wonderful program executed before my very eyes. But some things aren't meant to be. And then Shoma was in tears and I wanted to just give him a hug. But the night was Javi's and I did manage to be happy for him in the moment. Was hard to not be when you see someone you like having the skate of their life. Though I can say I haven't watched many repeats of the long programs. I've watched Yuzu's short countless times now though. And I'm glad we can still watch him skating and he's had a relatively decent season with some nice performances here and there.

I got some Worlds2k12 Yuzuru Hanyu teas and I can't help it, I thought I was the only one but itseem so many Yuzu fans felt that way too.
those were figure skating for me, the skates that moved me.
honestly I don't like the meaning of 'the swan: Dying at it's peak beauty'
remaind me of Boston, when Yuzu at his peak from, everyone including fans, judgs and critics expect him to win, and in the end everything not gone well.

I know she also skates to R+J 2.0 cuts but that didn't give me feels the same way the R+J 1.0 cut did, which was so overwhelming I started crying too. A lot of people skate to Nino Rota but the Craig Armstrong version is solely Yuzu's.

I was read some article behind the RJ01 skate, that Yuzu at that time he felt like a traitor for leaving Sendai to skate while many people suffered there, so the fact that he was injured and may not capable to gave return to people on his region make him so angry (esp after the fall)
the gaze he gave to judgs after the RJ01 ended always got me
he just a kid for **** sake, even I can feel the burden above his tiny shoulder, and his tears :sad4: :sad4:
thats what make Yuzuru Hanyu special for me, so it's kind of pointless if I watched Junior to find another Hanyu coz fact is fact there's no another Yuzuru Hanyu.
