Yulia Lipnitskaya

My heart sank as I read the info in Vaitsekhovskaya's blog...Seems that our dear Yulia is about to retire :(:(
Literally, answering to the post of some fans Vaitsekhovskaya said that "She won't be back" and later on there was a post that Yulia lacked character and Vaitsekhovskaya added: "When a person is found in resuscitation department some days after the competitions and has been in the hospital for three months, you don't call it "lack of character"
:( Wake me up, if I'm sleeping...

If she retires so be it. My support for her won't change in the least.

I of course hope she can continue but competing from 10yrs old thru 18yrs at the top level is a long time in the game. Not everyone had or will have such a chance and reach the success she's had. It's a tremendous loss though because character and sincerity is not something easily taught but something that comes from the inside. She has it!

IMO...she always had an uphill battle and even making the Olympics was a long shot. Following her before and leading into the Olympics was a treat I'll never forget. If she continues I hope she's at her best. If not she's already given me more than enough to be a satisfied fan.

Yulia will never lose me as a fan!

Last year Vaitsekhovskaya was very well located to Julia. She was doing an interview with her and Urmanov. Now Vaitsekhovskaya in Helsinki, we can assume that she found an opportunity to talk with Uramanov.

Vaitsekhovskaya is known to be very biased.
On the other hand, most rumours from her blog turned to be true...

Why not wait till we hear from Yulia herself? Alexei respects her privacy, he would not make public statements without Yulia's permission and certainly not share anything with an internet gossip. Comments by third parties who do not respect Yulia's privacy should be suspect. Yulia's situation is complex in every regard. Just give her time to sort it through with her doctors and Alexei, she will tell us directly when the time is right. In the meantime refrain from obituaries. "The report of my death was an exaggeration.” (Mark Twain responding to his newspaper obituary). We all know better than to believe everything on the internet.

Tell me why Julia will retire ? She has injuries ? I dont follow her news from longtime so i do not know what is her situation now .

An interview with Georgian skater Moris Kvitelashvili from a few days ago; when the interviewer brought up Yulia's rumored 'difficult character', this was his response:
— Говорят, у Липницкой непростой характер.

— Она добрая, просто не всем доверяет и не всех к себе подпускает. У нее была цель, и она была сфокусирована на ней. Сейчас она немного поменялась. Бывало, Юля даже меня защищала. Кто-то что-то плохое сказал про меня, я то ли не успел ответить, то ли вообще не ответил — а Липницкая за меня вступилась. Юля ко мне всегда хорошо относилась.

as per google translate:

Q: They say that Lipnitskaya has a difficult character.

A: "She's kind, just does not trust everyone and does not let everyone in." She had a goal, and she was focused on her. Now it has changed a little. Sometimes, Julia even defended me. Someone said something bad about me, I either did not have time to answer, or did not answer at all - and Lipnitskaya stood up for me. Julia always treated me well.

I hope that she does not have to go out like that, with an injury and all. But if she's retiring, then she leaves as one of the sport's most memorable stars and I wish her the best.

Most but not all. Some of her "facts" were very wrong and misleading.
But I have the feeling this time she might be right.

Does anyone else wonder if Yulia has an issue beyond a hip injury? 3 months in a clinic for an injury seems strange, but if she is being treated for an eating disorder 3 months or longer is quite normal- last year when she competed in the Cup of Russia after Nationals there was the comment that she had to replace her FS dress because the blue one was too large, and at Rostelecom Cup a lot of people commented that she looked sick she was so pale (though that could have been a poor make-up job) and she had the leg cramps. Then she suddenly withdraws from Nationals and there has been radio silence about her progress or anything... I had a friend in high school who had to be hospitalized for an eating disorder and #1 thing they removed from her was social media because it was a trigger. Given some of the comments made by her former coach about Yulia during the Olympic season about things they had to do to keep her weight low and now the 'rumored retirement' with the things I mentioned above - it makes me wonder.

I don't know what to say...I really wish it was some kind of April's fool :palmf:
This is the most devastating news to me today.
I know she has health issue caused by injury but I thought she will recover come back someday...

she'll be back next quad. for now she is learning to let go. however, once the olympics are over she'll find that she isn't able to fully extinguish the fire inside, and it will ultimately rekindle so that she can return to produce a satisfying body of work. on the other hand, maybe she'll be happy skating professionally. on the third hand(!?), maybe she will invest herself in new ventures... but i still curse the team event which robbed her of a satisfying end to her career. how the hell did eteri expect her to produce FOUR CLEAN PROGRAMS at one event? really? so then, i'm still holding out for her even if she does retire...

I totally agree with you. This is the normal process when you are in a clinic for an eating disorder. You have to be isolated of your life environment ! I think we juste have to wait instead of listening rumors, even if these rumors look right. Her retirement from any king of social media isn't her normal attitude, and the treatment in a clinic for eating disorder seems to be exact. Cause this explains that we don't have any news of her since her retirement of nationals.

Do you have a link to this ? I tried to seach it, but I dont read in russian well.
Btw I am not sure what she ment by mentioning ,,resuscitation department" because to this department you get when you are in a life danger situation.... and even that Yulia had some hip issue , this was by far life danger situation. So to me it looks she is treated at some psychiatric clinic , but it doesnt have to be just eating disorder, maybe she tries to get over with the psychological block when it comes to competition.

Oh Julia... this is very concerning and very alarming.

3 months!? Is he exaggerating? Not possible for a healthy young woman who is also an athlete.
