I guess it WAS like Sk Amer -- cruddy practice, stellar performance. Wonder if vice versa holds true?! :luv17: At Sk Amer, even his 6 min. warm up right before his skate wasn't too good and then he skated beautifully. Still have to remember - if he's 1st or 21st, I have enjoyed watching his growth this season so much. And I do have to remember to breathe, since 4 mins 30 secs is a long time to go without breathing. :drama:

Yes do remember to breathe - we'd miss you if you weren't around! 😉

Hi, my Wi-Fi is terribly bad, and my pc doesn't work. So I can't share my report and photos now! Im so sorry.
Shoma just anazed me. In 6 min warmup, he couldn't get jups, and it worried me so much. But after that, he was perfect! He seemed bigger on the ice as I saw him in 2014 nationals for the first time. His skating was smooth and he has a certain character! It's very unique. Of course, his musicality is wonderful. I just thought that thanks shoma for your birth. Lol. Its a joy to see him.
His practice didn't betray him. The arm he hung up right after the performance showed his sense of achievement.
Go shoma! Believe in yourself!

Thanks everyone for all your supports and updates!

The person next to me said "Ok, you can breathe now" after Shoma was done. I think I was turning lavender at that point from being so anxious and not breathing. What a privilege to see all these skaters come out and really bring it when it counted! My love / hate relationship with the SP continues! :drama: Knowing you aren't going to win it with the short, but you sure can lose it! Incredible pressure.

....

Wow, thank you for the vivid report! The excitement could be felt in front of the TV, so I can imagine it must have been tenfold in the arena! I tried to spot you guys, but there were so many people wearing lavender/purple that this was an impossible task. :rofl2: (Are you on the short side opposite the commentator's stand today as well, Arriba?)

Our Shomita looked super focused during the SP and he absolutely killed it! (Yeah, the 3A rebelled a bit, but who cares? :rolleye:) Keeping all of my limbs crossed, he's going to be on his game today as well. I want him to bring home a medal so badly. He so deserves it after all the hard work he's put in! Ganbatte Shoma!!! :cheer2:

I was in the skaters hotel watching the ladies free (I didn't have tickets for the event) and I saw Shoma come in from practice. He is so miniature but so adorable. I didn't bother him though. I want him as well rested as possible, lol.

You displayed a lot of restraint there. See? You ARE the level-headed type. ;)

I'll be lucky if I can get a picture with him. I did get one with Shizuka Arakawa and Takeshi Honda so maybe it's possible?

That's very exciting! Did you get to speak a few words with them? In my mind they're such unicorns, because it's almost impossible to meet them overseas these days. At least Dai is appearing in Swiss ice shows all the time. Wish you good luck to catch him as well! I thought he'd maybe teleport himself in and out of the arena, because there haven't been many reports of Dai-chan sightings, but I have heard of one person now, who ran into him on his way to the commentator's stand. Seems he doesn't possess superhuman powers after all! Usually he never declines picture/autograph requests. He probably won't be very conversational when you catch him on his way to work, but judging from my "run-ins" with him he's always super friendly. :)

And I do have to remember to breathe, since 4 mins 30 secs is a long time to go without breathing.

Goodness, will you please take care of yourself? ;)

Thank you for the report, hamaguri! We'll wait patiently for your photos and for you to share all the details with us later! It's great to hear that Shoma stands out not only on TV/the computer-screen. Judging by many people's first hand accounts, he seems to be one of the skaters, who get across even better in real life! I'll really have to make an effort to see him with my own eyes one day. :dance2:

Synesthesia I am on the long side opposite the judges but more towards the corner. They are good seats. Yes, I will remember to breathe today. Hoping that Shomita has the same focus today. Yes, you MUST see him in person -- his speed and charisma just jump off the ice. Now let's just hope he has the REAL loco costume today! Ganbatte Shomita!

Shoma was so close, sooooo close to winning. This is unbelievable...after Yuzuru, Boyang and Chan skated so well I was soooo nervous for him. Even that score from Nathan Chen scared me, but he delivered under such a pressure! I'm almost crying. He deserves this so much. What good omen for next year! No more crying face!!!! :yahoo::party2::hb:

Let's PARTY for OUR LOCO Overlord (and the costume, yes, the right one and Fluffy and all...amazing and he looked suave...and fierce, no lost puppy anymore!)

OMG I needed a few minutes to compose myself before I posted my Congratulations to Shoma. What a gutsy performance, he was amazing!
The pressure he was under was unbelievable so many of the men skated really really well.

World Silver Medalist Shoma Uno! No more tears Shoma! :clapper::yahoo::hap57:

bravo shoma!!! so close !!! but i cannot wait to watch you year after year... may you have a long career and build up on this!!! no more tears ;) i knew my unicorn would bring you luck :)

The Lavender Prince became a King today -- King Shomita! He survived (and so did I). I was just in the lobby getting food and heard a bunch of screaming -- this was near the "magic door" again. It was Yuzu, Shoma, and Jin returning from their press conference. I didn't see them but figured Yuzu was around if there was screaming. Several lucky people saw them. Then a minute later Stephane and Deniss V walked (ran) by. Finally spotted Uncle Dai at the Japanese TV table. I have a photo but it's about as big as a postage stamp.

Loved meeting you hamaguri. Thank you for the chocolates!

Don't even know how to describe the energy in the arena. When the final flight came on the ice. :hap57: :jaw: I still have to absorb it all. Ice dance final starts now.

:bow:Not a perfect skate, but good enough for silver -- that's good enough for me. I let out a huge scream :cheer2: when Shomita hit the 3 jump combo!

 :dance3: :hap10: :yahoo: :hap85:

That's just the most amazing thing, because it wasn't a hundred percent perfect, both of his programs weren't. He hasn't hit the ceiling yet and he is able to soar even higher. Gosh, I can't wait what Team Fluffy comes up with next year. Something grand and uplifting for the biggest stage of all, I hope.

Flawless god of tango. LOVE YOU SHOMA. king of all things. also did you watch the press conf? he was so close to falling asleep any second and then... https://twitter.com/uemukeiko/status/848165091350421505

I can't imagine how tiring these Championships must've been, and didn't he attend every practice session? And the whole season, really, has been such an exhausting affair. If he survived this year, he will do so next year. Just look at the competitions he competed at compared to the other top men....he must be close to dead now, but Team Fluffy knew what they were doing when Shoma came to Helsinki before all the others. And now it's time to go to bed. :bed:

yeah I think he has been looking tired for quite a while now (not when he skates tho) but here i just think it is the adrenaline crash with all the stress and tension going down. must be a killer!!

I fell asleep during a practice the other day! Can't even imagine how he felt! I'm sure the pressure and intensity of it all are very overwhelming. His team had a plan and really helped him maximize his talent! Hooray for Team Fluffy / Yamada! :agree:

Well, silver for Shoma!!! I am so happy for him. He was oh so close to pulling off the win, but that little error cost him... and Yuzu was perfect. Shoma gave it everything and more. I just love his attitude and performance and dedication on the ice. He is young and will only continue to get better. After the amazing programs in front of him there was every chance he could make huge mistakes, but he kept it together and delivered an amazing program.

that press conference was so funny, pretty much passing out there, lol, but that was a great fight. Go rest now, young man. Very proud of him!!

Shoma!!!!!! Shoma, so proud of you!!! Congratulations on your fantastic skates this competition and on the silver. Soooo close. Most of my favorite bbs in the podium and we got a wedding ceremony too. :hap10:
