Poor Shoma, he was soooo tired by the end of the press conference. Hope he's rested well and good and takes a moment to relax in the gala practice. And has fun! It's such a pity the practice isn't open to public. The GPF one had such amazing moments of Shoma being less shy than he usually seems to be. I'm gonna miss some Team Japan shenanigans videos. *pout* Why you no let people watch practice, Helsinki??

Just had a chance to watch Shomita's FS with the B ESP commentary. I loved where my seat was in the arena, but I pretty much lost the view on the 4Lo, so that was fun to see. Also got so involved in the emotion of it all that I didn't realize how deep he already was into the program (3:30?) when he did the two 4Ts. And to follow it up with the 3 jump combo was just :hap10: :yes2: I'm honestly not sure who was happier, Shoma or Fluffy! I only wish Coach Yamada could be there to share in the joy. I think it was after Nationals that Yamada said "My Shoma can do even more."

Gutsy, determined, mentally tough--I've run out of adjectives. Hooray for Shoma.

Amazing job to Shoma, both his programs were so breathtaking!:hap93::hap36:
I've followed this thread for a while now, but I was so happy I couldn't help but make my first post! I'm so glad I cheered for Shoma this season, and being able to see him smile at the last major competition was just so amazing! I can't be happier!! He's finally not third anymore, and congrats to him for moving up a rank in the world standings!

A very warm welcome to GS Forum and our Shoma Fan Fest thread! :)
So glad you've decided to comment, esp your very first post in this Shoma's thread!

I echo what you've written here. :agree: I still believe he deserved a little higher PCS, if not the best PCS as Iwrote in Men FS thread ;)
In performance-wise, I pretty much loved Shoma, Boyang, Patrick and Jason. They all sold their programs in their own way. Kudos to them  : to my eyes, Shoma was passion. Boyang was wizard. Patrick was philosopher. Jason was breeze.

My honest feeling? if anyone ever interested in mine. "Give Shoma the best PCS of the night!" :angry2:
He sold the program the best tonight I thought. He was so into the program, while others were in a competition-mode more or less. I don't have a say at all that Yuzuru to have won overall due to much stronger TES because he was just so perfect with every single elements. I would have been a little happier if Shoma's TES 3 points lower but PCS higher the same amount, thus it doesn't affect overall standings. Don't get me wrong. Scoring PCS is not my profession, of course. :ohwell: I am only writing my personal preference. ;)

Hi Mahipeach248. You made your first post in a good thread and at a good time! Welcome!

I just realized that Shoma was the only one who kept his position and was on the podium for SP AND LP. Wow....what a great accomplishment. The scores are very promising. And now, with a World silver PCS should also rise! He's got a shot, people....I still have my doubts that they want two japanese Men on the podium in Pyeongchang, but there is a lot of love for Shoma, atm.

I've been lurking throughout the competition and wanted to finally come out and echo everyone's happiness about Shoma's performance. I've only been watching his skating since this GPF, but he's grown so much! I felt that I finally emotionally understood his SP at this competition, and this is the sharpest Loco has looked (the opening gestures were 👌). Every time I see pictures or gifs of him smiling afterwards I'm filled with such happiness. I'm sad I didn't get to see Loco performed live and in person (huge Piazzolla fan), but maybe next season I'll make it out to a competition 😀. For now I hope he gets to sleep for at least 2 days and then gets to play lots of video games 😊.

Congrats Shoma! It was an amazing performance and a great score! His FS this year was just phenomenal and the way he performed it in Helsinki was just wow :luv17:

I feel different about this LOCO performance, but it might've been the camera work.

Mmmm to be fair, the ending sequence was best for me at GPF, but I really did like the opening here. And by sharpest I meant the tango moves and gestures specifically, because GPF is actually my favorite overall performance of this. My bad for not clarifying that 😊

This worlds short and free skate programs are now my favorite of all time now:luv17: I personally like to enjoy watching how he ends each program, with a smile, fist pumps, sometimes tears; they're always different each time and I love that. You could see how much he's grown this season:o: I saw that Shoma's been landing 4Lz in practice! :reye: I never thought he would need it, but that's awesome. He now knows all the quads (except the axel, which I don't think anyone would try in competition)!
By the way, I wonder when Shoma's next competition is?

Welcome @mahipeach248 and @spacerloverobots to GS and to our Shomita's FF! Happy to meet you both! :)

eta:Did anyone watch the Gala? How was Shoma?

Probably World Team Trophy sometime this month.

Adorable. I loved his exhibition and you could see his undies and bellybutton!

See, sometimes it's not the best to be in the arena. I missed the belly button and the boxer briefs! Good grief, if he washes those pants one more time they won't fit. Maybe they already don't fit?:scard7:

Thank you for the information @demarinis5!
And about the 4Lz, that wasn't true:p He said he was just trying it for fun during the exhibition practice (though he did (almost?)get the rotations). [you were practicing the 4Lz?]"um...yes..I tried it for the first time today,, really just for fun...please don't expect it from me" Honestly, his interviews are so cute to watch:o:
Sorry about the misleading information.

Sorry about the misleading information.

But Shoma is quite fast in getting his quads out doesn't he.

I read somewhere the 4Lo was only practiced for a month before the debut at 4CC.

Love this photo that was taken after the gala. I could see on the opposite side of the rink that Shoma was calling Yuzu and Mai over for a photo. They look so happy. Would imagine they have their banquet tonight. They must be exhausted! https://www.instagram.com/p/BSY49_EFhke
