But yes, this is I believe one of the problems. At this point Mishin just looks delusional so overall, I find his comments funny.

Also, once guy in Mishin's group once said Mishin loves trolling. So people should not take his words at this stage seriously. I doubt Mishin even remember his interviews after 1 day.

Now he is like "Patrick who?" but Yuzuru is always there on top like a sore thumb. His male skaters are even placed below Rukavicin kids' and his female skaters placed below Eteri's nowadays. Also did he really comment about choreography lmao it is the ONE THING his students were always criticized about so I find it magnificently hilarious.

Okay so just collecting my thoughts/observations, this was a CRAZY week and maybe the best vacation I've ever taken...

After the SP, I was so depressed that I couldn't really eat or do any work (even though I was technically working remotely that week). I guess, to me, unless he had a meltdown, he would definitely podium, because he was close to Boyang and Patrick has not had a clean long recently. But it would have been such an unsatisfying end to a season that had so much potential. And to go into the Olympic season full of doubt, with a repeat silver (or even a bronze), would have been heartbreaking.

When the last 6 skaters came out for the warmup, Yuzu was in his warmup jacket (and looked amazing) and he looked so, so concentrated. They announced everyone's names/countries in the order of their skates and the whole time he was going through the jumps on the ice. Like, pulling in his arms and doing 4 revolution twizzles on the ice. 100% focused. It was kind of scary. I can see if you weren't a fan of Yuzu, you might find it rude, but I liked it seriously, his INTENSITY is unlike anything I've EVER seen before, it radiated to the edge of the stadium. Then he went off and did a 3A and fell badly on that but otherwise I didn't think the warmup was horrible. Heaven knows he had a good warmup during the SP and then that happened. It was only after the competition, when I watched the B.Esp replay, did they make mention of his terrible warmup, so my memory could have been a little fuzzy. Then, after the warmup ended, he still looked rather calm, so I took that as a good sign. From my seat (last row of Ice Level 1), I could see the takeoff and axis of his 4Lo was perfect, as was the solo 4S and the flip. And then he came around for the combo of doom, right in front of our noses, and he looked relaxed and not rushed. When he launched into the air I knew he was going to land it perfectly because he was 100% on axis and his air position was perfect and then bam, when he landed the 3T, I couldn't stop screaming. The crowd ERUPTED as if we all KNEW, we knew this was the combo of doom that he finally conquered. It was such a special moment. And from then on, he pulled out jump after jump with the same ease and perfection. His landings are like SILK, they are so soft, like landing in a pile of fluff. I don't know how else to describe it. When he is on he is almost weightless. And then that ina bauer came and I regret not being able to fully appreciate it because I knew his last jump was the lutz after the IB, so I was still clutching the seat. When he landed that I was on my feet, cheering (good thing I sat in the last row) and crying. My favorite moment was when he was in his final combination spin and he put up the finger towards the judges and the audience in his last upright position (and kept it there until his ending pose). I don't think the video showed it very well, so I'm glad to have seen that special moment in person.

Well, this is definitely a week I'll never forget. I don't think I can let myself love a skater as much as I love Yuzuru ever again, but since I'm already here, I will cherish every moment he's skating with all of my heart. :luv17:

P.S. Also, another thing I noticed was that his 1/2-loop was beautiful. I don't know why...maybe it was due to all the post-4CC discussions on it...but that really stuck out to me. Or maybe it was just a breathe of fresh air after all the terrible 1/2-loops I saw last week, *cough* Anna *cough*

I am curious about how he will approach next season now. He realized now more than ever that it is so important to be clean rather than having higher BV but performing them with 1 mistake (he said it in the interview in fact, it is difficult to be clean; he does not know yet what he would do next season). Had Javi been clean I think the judges would give it to Javi instead. Boyang received his PB with a watered down layout (last year's layout) too. But he also knows that he can't approach the next skating season with the hope of many others with higher BV making a mistake. So it will be interesting

I think this is the main reason of why we had such a good Worlds men's event. Just like it says on that gifset posted here, it's crazy to think that a 300 points total could achieve only 4th place. Of course there's the natural score inflation but it still speaks volume of how men's skating is evolving if we consider that all of the top 6 is attempting at least 3 quads at the free skate. Yet we still had predominantly clean free skates, and I'm considering it as no falls or pops, from all of the medalists (and from the 1st to 4th place at the SP (!!), even if Patrick's content isn't one of the highest) Yes, Shoma had that botched Lutz and couple of a not ideal landings, but in any other competition this program could achieve the gold as he missed it by only around 2 points. A program like Patrick's free skate wasn't badly skated at all. He actually did a very good competition yet placed 5th, of course he could receive more at the components but that's not the point; 2 years ago these two programs from Patrick would mean 100% a podium finish. Yuzuru earned silver at Worlds 2015, of course at a field that was less deep, without landing any clean quads at all, which seems impossible to happen at the moment.

Actually, 2016-2017 was a very well skated season for him overall we still have WTT though and anyone who says otherwise doesn't follow him and is too caught up on the outlier that was 2015-2016. Even considering 2015-2016, the fact that he managed to stand up at 83% of his 4Lo at his first season with it, and land at least 3 quads at the free skate 4 competitions out of 6 already means progress. This isn't suprising though, he's always making progress in a way or another.

The intense competition is bringing the best out of the current field to the point that we're having some of the best skated programs, paradoxically, with the highest technnical content in history. Bombing of course is always possible but this makes me more optimistic for the Olympics. Sochi FS was extremely underwhelming and I wouldn't like a repeat at all.

Javi is balletic, on the other hand.
