But yes, it sounded great! Honestly, sometimes his English surprises me, especially considering he could barely speak a few words some years ago. I can't imagine that as a world-class athlete he has a lot of time to practice it.
What surprises me the most is the fact that he begins to pronounce dental fricatives (th sounds) like you're supposed to pronounce them. The interview with SVT was also really goodHydro's keyboard, never mind Yuzu, you're quite possibly the inanimate object with the best English I've seen

A lot of languages have it, but what's surprising is that Yuzu can do it because Japanese doesn't. Generally, beginning ESL Japanese people will say something more like a "z." His accent's getting pretty decent lately. It's a really hard thing to improve, you have to learn how to move your tongue properly, and how easy it is depends on your first language. I learned this the hard way when I tried learning Korean. I still can't hear the difference between some consonants no matter how hard I try because they don't exist in Spanish... I have mad respect for people who have a good accent when speaking a foreign language completely unlike their native one...

learning Japanese on my own for 16 years now until I finally got the motivation (also known as Yuzuru) to formally take lessons, and I've been studying Danish, swedish, German and Finnish on my own Oh, right, you mentioned that, did you pass the test to get into the higher level? Wow, nice, I haven't touched any of those, I confess to knowing nothing about them, other than basic grammar for German. Mostly I've been sticking to the romance ones plus Japanese and Korean. Not nearly for that long, though (other than English, 17 years now, I think?). Japanese I've been studying for 5, Korean for 2, and Italian for a few months. The depressing thing is that a few months of Italian were enough to speak it much better than I do Korean... I can read novels in Italian after a semester and a half, but I can't even understand some YouTube comments in KoreanI am
