Each have to perform sp and lp

I'm exhausted for them only by reading that.
Poor guys, let them rest !

That being said, I think Yuzuru is glad to have a chance to redeem himself with the SP. He seems to be pretty obsessed by it :)

I guess we have just to accept the fact that Yuzuru can't please everyone. But still those who dislike him or are indifferent to his skating appear to be in the minority. I am OK with that.

WTT... Maybe that's why he was studying his SP after the victory in Helsinki.. He knows wtt will coming and his thirst for redemption his SP.. He can't wait to practise ..

Canada is a second home, but it misbehaves. Well, three silvers. Two golds, though...

He may not love us publicly, but we are his bolt hole and command centre.... and with those 3 bedside silvers... his motivation, lol!! Not enough but ill take it ;) maybe one day it will be love....

But that's exactly how you can tell a top pro. Everything they do looks really easy... until you try to do the same. Oh god :palmf:

Yeah i think that is also part of the problem! He makes it look so effortless. Pulls a 3A after an IB at the end of the program like it was nothing. :luv17:

Tbh honest, Yuzuru is BY FAR the most popular skater in the world right now. You just can't please everyone, and it's OK.
And, yes, I think that his alien ethereal and androgynous style in H&L is not everybody's cup of tea, and that he makes his program look so easy that plenty of people must think that it is indeed easy (scoop : it's not)... Something tells me that I wouldn't get along well with this kind of people anyway :)
I just doubt that a "cold and unpassionate skater" would make thousands of people people travel from the other side of the world just to watch him skate for a few minutes. :)

I’m disappointed that they weren’t exited at all, didn’t really acknowledge his perfect execution nor technique and even complained about the artistic side.
But what really made me mad was what they said after Shoma’s and Javi’s skates. They both would prefer Shoma to win and would give Shoma higher PCS than Yuzu’s (seriously, I’m done :disapp: ) And after Javi finished, male commentator said how sad he is about Javi’s mistakes and that Yuzu’s focused technical style of skating gets maybe too big and not-so-much deserved reward.
This was really disgusting to hear. :disapp: :noshake: :slink:

Thanks for the translation, monidi. It's always nice to hear what different commentators say about his performances even if they are critical.

I found Hungarian Eurosport's LGC and H&L commentaries and also LGC from a different channel and they said a bit similar things. That he focused very much on skating a clean program, and the performance was lost in it, but at the end of it they used his skating was sensational.

But I'm already used to it that in my country most people prefer Javier's *masculine* skating style more, and this time it was evident too that also the commentators prefer him over Yuzuru. At least they tried to be relatively neutral and they are respectful, but it is still annoying that they usually portray Javi as someone who is more one of us, while Yuzuru is a superstar of the sport, but not really here. :scowl:

Anyway, something interesting was pointed out on Hun Esp about Yuzuru's 4Lo technique. I try to explain it:
The commentator said that experts thought that it is impossible to jump a quad loop with a clear one-foot take off, because to jump a loop, the left leg's swing is needed on the ice until the last moment of taking off from the ice. So basically a two-footed jump technique is necessary to jump a quad loop.
She then pointed out that Yuzuru proved at this competition that it is not impossible to jump it from one-foot, because first he gained swing with his left leg, and when he had enough power and speed, he jumped it from only the right outside edge.
I made a slow motion gif (sorry, camera angle is not good) to compare his 4Lo with Shoma's and it makes sense what she said. It looks like that Shoma needs longer to use his left leg to take off because he doesn't have that speed and swing as Yuzuru, which ends in a two foot take off technique.

What is also interesting is that I watched Yuzuru's loop from 4CC and GPF and it seemed that the technique was still different then, he didn't seem to have that much of swing back then. The commentator lady would have pointed it out earlier this season if his technique had been the same in the whole season.

I don't know much about technique but I thought it was very interesting to hear about these details.

Yeah I don't want to judge anyone but people that criticize him based on style or w/e do not seem to get just how intricate and packed his programs are. Just how difficult he makes it for himself.

I mean I'd be fine with it as long as the judges get it...

WTT is not an important event therefore I am more happy to know he was not appointed as captain. I hope Yuzu and baby Shoma can have a really good rest and mentally prepared for upcoming season

My grandfather used to tell me that people hating on somebody because they are afraid to know and to admit the ability that person possessed. All Yuzu need is to be himself and get supported from those important to him.

I feel very divided about the WTT.

Of course we will have a chance to see one last time LGC and H&L. Maybe even clean LGC with WR (I hope so!). As a figure skating fan I am extremely glad to have this opportunity.

But on the other hand all the competitors are burn out by the WC. Once again they will have to compete against each other just after another tough competition. This is the sad part and I just wish Yuzuru not to take seriously the possible outcome. But he will, anyway :(.

That's the reality, though. Tastes differ. I've noticed a lot of commentators really like Shoma, especially his FS this year, which brings to the forefront all the performer qualities he has in spades and appeals to his strengths in term of upper body and expression. His jumps will never be the thing I like about him (aside from his 3A and that one 4Lo at 4CC) and he may not have the most complex steps and entries into jumps, but he does have one of the best free skates this season (at least to me) and there's plenty of people who probably prefer it to Yuzu's more introspective H&L. A tango is easier to get behind and understand.

However much I like Shoma and his FS, though, it was Yuzu's FS that made my heart swell this Worlds when I finally watched it, because it was so beautiful to witness. 'Bad posture' or whatnot.

One more stupid myth that people who have no idea about dance and performing art use to attack Yuzuru. The truth is NONE of the top men is anything near "balletic". Even Patrick and he has the most adequate posture among them already. By the way, going to ballet lesson does not make you balletic, mind you.

In realy, figure skating is actually quite open and they accept various types of bodies. If we talk about ballet or some strict forms of dances, ONLY Yuzuru is qualified to be a dancer because he has enough height and slender bodylines for it.

Sorry the rest of the men, but the reality is that, their body types and postures might be disqualified from the round 1 if this were a serious dance competition.

This really, about Shoma's jump. I really like his step sequence and I think the boy is sho cute...
But I watched his FS on World, and I was a bit mad. Those pre-rotation and iffy landings are really ???, I can't believe that the judges rewarded quite "a lot" of GOE for them.
I mean TES difference from Yuzu is only 6 points, that's a crime for me... :scratch3:
But oh well, maybe that's just me.

Anw, I decided to be more active in this forum, and realized that I haven't properly introduced myself.
Hello everyone! You can call me Lev here. Used to be a big fan of skating before, from Sasha Cohen days until Kim Yuna. I had an account here before too (forgot the login details already tho). But when Sochi incident happened, I was really mad I promised myself to stop following judged sports like figure skating.
But sometime last year, I stumbled upon Yuzuru Hanyu's Seimei video in youtube. It was NHK I think. When I saw that I was like "HOLY CRAP... Who is this guy? That was genius skating!!!"
And since that faithful day, God knows what happened lol.

So yea, hopefully I get to meet a lot of fellow skating enthusiasts here and have some fun and fruitful discussions too!

P.S.: Currently waiting for PyeongChang balloting result.. Hopefully my friend's friend in Korea can get it. Please pray for me haha!

An why should figure skaters be "balletic" ? Is it written somewhere in the ISU rules ? Last time I checked, it wasn't.
And thankfully because... well sorry nureiev and all, but I don't like ballet at all :(.

I'm sure Yuzu is going to try for a clean LGC and I hope he gets it. I heard Patrick is thinking of using WTT to try out the 4S in his SP but I wonder if our hopes of seeing Yuzu going for an opportunity to try out the 4Lz will actually happen there. Mostly because I think he IS tired and the 4Lz does take a toll on you, I think, and his training until WTT is going to be taking place in Japan and not TCC where he'll have more help on technique and other stuff. I do hope he lands the 4S3T again at WTT even if he falls on the following 4T.

Oh, I completely agree. When I mentioned 'bad posture and whatnot' I was being sarcastic of what others say about Yuzuru. I don't actually think he has bad posture. Then again, my preference in dance is actually for contemporary dancing and that tends to have a much wider range of upper body movements than ballet, which encourages more stiffness.
