Hanyu, who stood in fifth place following the short program, performed a superb free skating program to “Hope and Legacy” by Joe Hisaishi, nailing his best performance of the season and a record of 223.20 points. He perfectly executed four quadruple jumps, including a quad loop, plus five triple jumps including two triple Axels, spins and footwork. All his jumps come “out of the blue” with no preparation at all and they are perfectly landed on soft knees with beautiful running edges. They all look so easy, as if they were just single jumps!!! He is unique. Impressive were also his step sequences, especially, in my opinion, his choreo sequence filled with original and beautiful moves. His skating is very soft and graceful and filled with passion. Simply fantastic. One of the best programs I have ever seen. He was awarded twelve 10 marks in the Program Components.

I absolutely love Yuzuru's japanese programs, so don't get me wrong, and actually speaking about the shamisen idea I've considered the possibility of this song for a short program when I had a period when i was obsessed with it (or this, my lord it would be a dream). I thought about them before he choosed SEIMEI I think, so when he choosed a japanese song like SEIMEI I was estatic. But for the Olympics, this wouldn't be my choice not just because it is Korea, or because it's an event with gigantic international audience, but more because it would be the 4th (?) japanese piece of his career (If we take in account Change and Hana Ni Narae) and even if it could be a very different theme and choreography than SEIMEI, the memory of this program is a bit too fresh as of now, in my opinion. So I would choose a program with a similar epic impact like I've said before to become another one of his next iconic moments in his career


However, if we're talking about very bold choices, I'll say that I'm missing arabic themed programs which will not happen lmfao. It could be a modern song as in this style, which would be spellbinding. Probably not for Yuzuru, but overall I want people trying it.

I think this is pretty important tbh. If there is gonna be a majority Korean audience, they might not appreciate an intensely Japanese-themed program.

I'm not sure if this would be a good FS music but I'm obsessed with this theme lately.

I think it would be a brilliant choice for him. And only someone as brilliant as he can be could do it justice. Definitely Olympic-worthy music.

I like this theme music of NHK documentary program 映像の世紀 Eizo no Seiki - Century of Films.
I'm afraid the theme/title "Is Paris Burning" may be too heavy, but I want this type of dramatic, lyrical, and thrilling one for Yuzuru's FS of Olympic season, and I'm thinking it is very likely as his team selected a bit calm music for this season. In any case, everyone's interests are surely moving to his next season's programs

Yes! I'd love that. One of my favorites is the Polonaise in A flat major, but I'm not sure how well it'd work for a program. I think it's unlikely he'll pick Chopin again so soon, though.
