Didn't ANA choose the right skater to sponsor before Sochi?? Lol, nice work on their part. I am glad that he can do the *less is more* kind of thing... For results you have to train and since he is in Canada he can't always be available for promotional purposes. It seems like they schedule that kind of work very well, kind of all at once, so there is less going back and forth. I am sooo glad he does not *have* to do all those shows...wanting to do them is another story!!

Now that I see his list of endorsements... more than I thought. That is a lot of work. Makes me think he will have lots of work to do off ice especially this year as each brand will want things from him leading up to Korea.

yeh being with ANA gave him more independence , in addition he doesn't have any agencies so no one suffocates him like IMG, UFS does with their skaters.

I do wonder what his networth is at this point. I mean, Kwan was making $4 million a year around 1998. Then Yuna Kim was making around $8 million a year in 2010 (according to what tv told me), tied with Shaun White. They were the highest earning winter athletes that year. Not that I want to be nosy, I just want to know what it can be like for the most popular male figure skater there's ever been.

It's already been a week since yuzu got his gold medal with that epic WR free program and I still can't believe what happened, this whole week I've been sooo happy, I haven't been this happy in a long time because of work but this week nothing made me change my mood:luv17:

Yeah, even just a ball park figure. It would be interesting to get an idea.... like is he set for life? will he have to do something else for a living or can it be just for the love of it etc.. I have no idea what money we're talking because he isn't an ice *princess.*

Also, yes I was surprised too because I've seen Japanese fans on Twitter complaining about PCS and TES, which is something I hadn't seen all season... Didn't read them all because I was at work and I thought it was just the Japanese saying what we've at least thought...
God, this GPS assignment talk is making me nervous and sad... I don't know how I'm going to deal with Yuzu not picking skate Canada...
And reading that about JSF makes me so glad that he's in Canada and they don't bother him too much. As much as I love watching CMs and making of, is Yuzuru the athlete the one I really like, so I'm glad his "media duties"don't interfere much with his training (I hope he does a few ice shows though, he seems to have fun at those but I want him training under Mama Orser's eyes soon!)

Unfortunately he was not in Helsinki this time, and he is complaining ("mumbling" from his seat before TV, he says) about the camera work, especially the ending of Yuzuru's FS.

As for "Seimei", he did a pose to unspell his Shikigami at the end of the program. His program lasts to the very end of it. So, Nagakubo-san wanted to see Yuzuru pointing at the sky in the end of H&L as the perfect completion of the program.

I want to translate this article, but a bit later as I have some assignment this weekend.

In any case, the camera angles in Helsinki were frustrating to me as well. I didn't like the ceiling camera they used. And they sometimes even lost skaters from the frame

I sincerely hope TV crew in Korea will be improved with their skills by the Olympics. I was not satisfied with the camera work in 4CC either.

Speaking of complaining fans Some Chinese fans indignant about the scores (esp. GOE) made a video comparing Yuzu, Shoma & Javi's jumps & the respective GOE they received. It showed up on weibo yesterday and is now uploaded on youtube. I don't know much about the technicals except for telling the jumps apart, so not sure what to think. I wonder what your opinions would be?

I did this today - watching the whole men´s event again as a nice idea for this Saturday afternoon

Last week I was sitting at Hartwall Arena, so I wanted to celebrate again and relive it.

Wow. I was almost everything as nervous when the last group came out for warm-up as I was last week live

I had to open some champagne before watching Yuzuru and the rest of the group. Ouf.

What an event. I have seen Helsinki Hope and Legacy many times now during this week, and still, watching the whole event was nerve-wrecking and blissful again:luv17:

I am not over Helsinki. I go to work with a smile and start looking at the forum and reading and downloading in the evenings. And now today.

Some unsorted thoughts: while watching today I thought I saw a difference. Almost all the skaters - and they were very good- looked as if they concentrated on the next jump/element, whatever. Yuzuru looked as if he was concentrating on the music.

I am not an english native speaker, in german there is an expression: "standing in awe/with devotion before nature".

At this moment I am thinking, Yuzu ist standing in awe before music, with something like humility. And I love it. It is so special, and he is such a special human being, I cannot say.

At the same time, after Nathan Chen´s free programme, I thought I saw a satisfied smile on Yuzu´s face in the green room when he heard that Nathan was second after him at that moment. Very human

Sorry for rambling - I had to write something after reliving Helsinki today. And thank you all for your links, pictures, comments and support!!

I feel a little regretful that I couldn't take in everyone's programs as they were (especially Yuzu's ) because I was so anxious and nervous and then I was crying too much (lol) and I still cannot really believe what I witnessed in Helsinki, it feels mote like an overly realistic dream.

Where can I watch the whole event (or at least the last two groups)?

Also did anyone find a good fancam of the FS? There are a few out there but I am missing the quality and variety of the fancams from 4CC tbh

so, I always heard that the skaters free to do what they're want(quads battle) in galas or ice shows coz there are no judgs or coach who keep an eye on them every second.That why it's got me on surprise when Brian was there in Worlds gala holding pooh-an, is Brian always in everyone gala or the Worlds just exeption?

I think this World's was an exception. Brian said in an interview he is usually already on his way home from a competition when the gala is going on... luckily he was there with Pooh to pick up the pieces after his troubles or maybe just laugh with him, lol.

Yeah and I should add that I feel grateful to each and everyone taking photos and fancams because I don't really know how they do it... I could barely breathe whenever Yuzu came out much less hold a camera!!

I think we won't know until there are media "reports" or people actually seeing his tax return. But as a comparison, if I am not wrong , on 2012 he (and Takahashi) received $200k a year from JOC for permission of using his image for promotional material. That was 5 years ago and he was relatively a nobody back then; additionally, JOC is not really a "commercial" company. After Sochi, his public recognition and sentiment is through the roof (he was third in Nikkei yearly power ranking, ridiculous!). The endorsement fee that he received would have had doubled (or even tripled and quadrupled) from there, especially since it is from pretty big commercial companies. He is after all the most popular athlete in Japan alongside Kei Nishikori, Ichiro, Shohei Otani, Uchimura etc. Even with JSF/ANA/Agency/whatever taking half the cut, I would expect him to make no less than seven figures yearly.
