Just watched TSL This and That 2017 Worlds men's recap. Starting to wish I hadn't. They still don't like either of Hanyu's programs this season. They also don't like his costumes. Too Johnny Weir.

TSL!! :curse: They always have been Yuzu haters!!! Trolling about his costumes, his music and everyting else. They are team Shoma now!!! Big deal! Until a few years ago they were team P.Chan! Chan has better SS!! Chan has better spins!! Come on!!! Don't waste your time with them anymore! Not worth it! :gaah:

Phh.. Yuzu's fanmade videos get twice more views than their recaps.. who cares , even Jenny got smart and left

It was a state of complete absorption. It was different, too, from his sense of wanting to win, wanting to execute his elements perfectly, etc, after the perfectly-skated SP of the 2014 Sochi Olympic. At the time, he had said he’d like to “move forward with the good vibes anyhow” and to "tilt his state of mind toward that feeling." In sports, some athletes refer to this state of total concentration that results in > 100% performance as “entering the zone.”

Hanyu is working on trying to reproduce his state at the WC Free Skate, where he was “focused to the extent that he has forgotten the specifics of his performance.” “How to… turn it into something reproducible. What needs to be done to get into that state... It's difficult, but it’s something I have to think about from now on."

I can relate here, I experienced both. I would say it's based primarily on your physical condition. You need to "let go of" your mind (=your body). A proper diet helps a lot. Also it's easier to achieve that state of total concentration when your stomach is empty. That is why, I guess, he first got into this state before FS at FCC. Secondly, you shouldn't be sleep deprived. And the most difficult part - you need to learn how to fully trust yourself and stop over-controlling your mind ( in his case - body). It's like you are doing things half-consciously. You shouldn't overuse your brain (or body, it doesn't matter) because you already know everything on a deeper level. Ah, I don't know how to explain better. :palmf: But yes, he can learn it for sure.

There are many FS bloggers and TSL are just one of them. Everyone has their favourite skaters and it is OK. But if you use Yuzuru name to boost your popularity and at the same time dislike everything about him then is not fair to say the least. :rolleye:

So it seems IMG sent invitation to Yuzu for The Ice. I sincerely hope he will reject them
They are being kind of sneaky... Leaking the invite to media before Hanyu decides. Also Mao headlines the show, although I don't think she has much to do with the decision of who to invite?

It'll be hard to decline indeed. Hopefully he does decline. I kind of want him to decline everything but I suppose he might want to do some faoi

Since the ICE is Mao's headlining show, wouldn't they rather Mao be the main star since this is a special season for her? -So as not to dilute the spotlight? Interesting.
I think Fantasy on ice will be Yuzu's pick as he usually headlines that when he's healthy.

You explained it quite well! The "he has forgotten the specifics of his performance" I think was the key to conquer finally the CoD. He just did it naturally without overthinking it. And although he is a perfectionist he needs to stop over-controlling himself sometimes and trust more his abilities. It is what Brian said to him before FS, "trust your training".

He has zero responsibility to IMG so he can decline it without problem saying he has to prepare for season, just the way he did with Faoi last year, they expected him till the last minute. Agree, kind of rude from them to announce it in media before his decision, it does look like pressuring. I have no doubts about him doing faoi, they even reduced shows to 9.. and maybe DOI too. Faoi + DOI = 12 shows in total so it is okay, he can do his new programs in front of audience , he might want it. just the ice is too much.. I have heard their sales are quite bad for the past 2 years, so maybe this is the explanation why they suddenly want to invite him after 5 years of absence.

Yes, I am a perfectionist too so I can relate. Actually he tried to distract himself from overthinking before with his "rituals". Those repetitive small movements can help too, bur only to a certain extent. They are not 100% effective.

And it would have been much easier for him if he wasn't that smart. How we Russians say it "the woes of wit"

They might want to do a pair thing? Maybe? Like hanyu as guest for some celebratory scheme?

I'd put my money on faoi too. P&g being sponsors.

I find this concept of headlining so interesting. Do the headliners do additional things (participate in planning, content etc) other than perform?

-Get the most money.
-Get their face really big on the poster
-Get called last in the opening number with a big fanfare and lots of screaming
-perform in group numbers, and 2-ish solo numbers, one of which closes show, just before the closing number.

"the woes of wit", I am Russian, so I know what you mean. It is what I sometimes say also about Yuzu.

Ice shows sell poorly in Japan?! Wow, the world is going to the dogs...
