I think he meant he was going to replace a 3A-1Lo-3S with a 4T-1Lo-3S, but I didn't think that was necessary at all. His YOLO 4T wouldn't have gotten as much GOE as his 3A, I think.

He actually received higher GOE on his second half 4T this time compared to his second half 3A because judges are drunk like that. :p So in a scenario where he is behind (by 11 points!), he probably would want that extra 2 points

Just tried it, works fine. No viruses detected
Guess i know where i'll be watching WTT :P Bless my japanese teacher for sending me the link to a live stream of Tv Asahi...
Slightly off topic: i keep using Tv Asahi as background noise because the WTT ad comes up every now and then and i just love to randomly hear his name or his voice :hopelessness:

I roll my eyes at this so hard i think i'm going to pull a muscle

No. He would have done 4Lo, 4S, 3F // 4S-3T, 4T, 3A-2T, 4T-Lo-3S, 3Lz

I imagine since he figured the situation post-SP was difficult, dropping the 3A was all right if it would gain him around 2 points.

I see! I feel weird about the idea that he considered sacrificing a 3A.

Hmmm but the fact alone that it's the 5th quad that close to the end of the program would probably have wowed even the european judges... no? Who knows...

I mean, he would. I don't think he has much of a sense of limits. And it would one up everybody front loading them.[/SIZE]

Hahah sometimes I'm still not sure with him but I like to believe that he has matured enough to set some limits by now.

Off-topic, but it makes my head ache when I think of 5-quad layouts next season, compared to what was only three seasons ago...two quad (4T, 4S or 2x 4T) free skates for the top men, one quad free skates for medal contenders. This kind of improvement of the men's field in the past seasons is just incredible.

It's now a competition of who can collect the most gold medals before their legs give in :dev3:

Frankly it will not slow down until there is injury plaque among quadsters (knock on everything made of woods in my house it won't happen) OR those with simpler layout (but consistent) winning over those with harder layout.

This is the case for ladies and 3A. Or pairs with throw 4S and throw 3A. They actually sort of slow down in technical progression because noone yet is consistent enough to pull them off regularly, and when you don't land them, your score take a dive and you are thrown off the podium, while more consistent skaters with more conservative layout (Yuna kim, even medvedeva) is winning over more technically challenged skaters. Sui/Han took out their throw 4S and gained a lot, while Duhamel/Radford thr4S and sbs3Lz give them problem and bear no fruit this season and their placement suffer. For the men, since there are so many doing multiple quads now, it is just a given 1 will succeed while the other will falter in 1 competition, so for now, it is the "trend" and "preferred route".

Someone sub that video and send it to Orser mama, please

Pretty sure he knew already. Which is why last season he is so adamant about Yuzuru not going to ice shows because he was sure had Yuzuru gone through he will jump quads (and he thought Yuzu is not ready and fully recovered yet). On his interviews, Brian mentioned several times about how he would tell Yuzuru to "stop jumping" and do something else like steps. Quoting him here, when it came to those jumps (re: QUADS) he is like a kid with a new toy

Lmao this is why unsupervised training scare the heck out of me :p

I thought he said he only trains 2 hours a day but it's intense training ... so not surprised about an hour goes to all those quads. I figured it would be something hair raising like that. Sigh.

Well. At least WTT is almost here and then he'll be back in Canada.

I think there will be 5 quads from the start, not as back up. I am afraid he will probably have to, there's no way Shoma won't show up with a 5 quad FS (and Nathan is of course already there) and I expect by next season Boyang will up it to 5 too.

Yuzu needs to increase his base value next year for sure but I don't think 5 quad FS is a good idea. During Olympics there will be so much pressure + there is no day of rest between SP and FS + attention will be mainly on him as a reigning champion. He will be both mentally and physically exhausted :/ In my opinion 4 quad layout with 4Lz and 3A-3T (instead of 3A-2T) would be safer. It's 6,4 points more than his current layout and he could focus on quality. By doing (for example) 4Lz, 4Lo, 3F//4S-3T, 4T, 3A-2T, 4T-1Lo-3T, 3A he would get only 1,43 points more. I know every point counts but I don't think it's worth it.

As long as it isn't 4A :slink:
Stubborn kitty...

Amen to this lol.
But I think this is already a watered down practice for him, no? I remembered vaguely that Nam Nguyen said when Yuzuru practices he would/could jump 100 quads a day (lol help) :slink:

So now he repeats 2 triples instead of 1 triple and 1 quad. Do you think the judges will view this as lazy? (Even though he's doing 4 quads and a 4Lz and 4Lo :eeking: but judges are rather weird and make no sense sometimes.)

The layout with 4 quads and the 4Lz seems the best to me. And it would make room for improvisation in case one combo did not go well.

Nah, the math will still be there. His 4-quad program in 4CC has lower BV than his 3-quad program in Seimei. Thus regardless of the number of quads, it will have lower marks in total (206 vs 216, even if the BV difference is only 2 points). This is a BV game after all, not a wow-he-did-5-quad game. Judges still like cleaner programs at the end of the day. I believe 4-quad program with 1 mistake will lose to a clean 3-quad program in terms of score, even though not by a large margin.

I have no memory of that. None whatsoever. In fact I have read this and have already forgotten it. La la la la la.
There is not enough chocolate in this world to help me handle Yuzuru and his ways.

I wish Yuzu would learn -3Lo combinations  They're (1) really pretty, and (2) so good if you need to improvise, and (3) a BIG difference in BV. But nope, he can do a 4Lo like it's water but no 3Lo's
