Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

Technically speaking, next season their jump BV will still probably be higher than his. Nathan has the 4Lz, 4F and will add the 4Lo, Shoma will add the 4Lz so even with the addition of the 4Lz for Yuzuru, pure jump BV is going to be on their side. BTW Patrick it seems is going to try and add a 4F next season, though I don't know if that'll mean a 4 quad program too.
Still, if scored properly, his sentence should be correct. If.

We talked just yesterday how the 4Lz is needed. Well more and more each day it is proving true. He's probably the best in the entire field at reading in advance and letting himself enough time to not rush.

I am not going to comment on this forced, nonsensical, Shoma rivalry because it makes me roll my eyes so hard that they're in danger of falling out of my head!

I believe from Yuzu standpoint, he will not let this rivalry becomes like Mao vs Yuna or Yuzu vs Dai. It will be a more healthy rivalry ala Yuzu vs Javi. Of course he cannot control what the media and fans will do.

I guess the media will force their rivalry even more in the olympic season. But both of them seem to handle it well in the interviews, so I am not worried. What will judges do is another question.

He was talking about what he felt during Worlds, after being 5th at SP. Having world record score had been a pressure on him but at that time it enabled him to trust himself. The situation hasn’t changed after Worlds in terms of VB and PB differences, but he is very clever. I believe he will figure out the best strategy for him before the beginning of next season.

YES, it's amazing to see how Yuzu gets along with his main rivals, how much he respects them, and how much they respect him back. There aren't many other top athlete in the world like this, and even in most of the examples I can think of it's mostly just respect rather than friendship and, in the case of Javi, being able to train under the same coach. It's just insane and why I love him so so much :luv17: He makes me consciously want to become a nicer and better person by example.

So now it seems even Asahi is promoting the rivalry between Yuzuru and Shoma, Matsuoka directly told him that Shoma wants to beat him, Yuzuru answered he knows but he wants to win as well, also he said he knows many young skaters who have higher bv already but if he does all his elements cleanly there is nothing to be afraid of, and he is confident. And and the title on upper-right of the interview wass "the minor score gap between gold and silver medalists." At least Asahi seemed more human than Fuji now them too...

I don't think that is quite possible for me But I have started thinking about following his example in other ways. I want to change jobs. I need to find something I am passionate about, so that working hard is a pleasure. To identify your big, frightening dream, to set goals, to move toward them step by step, with your whole self—that is his example to me.

Oh, my eyes! Slo-mo does Shoma no favors. While they could use videos of Yuzu's jumps for the ISU site instead of the animations. Textbook perfect and the commentators said that in real time. "Debatable GOE Score for 2017 Worlds Men’s Programs (Yuzuru Hanyu, Shoma Uno, Javier Fernandez)" is a diplomatic title. Debatable—more like a joke.

I noticed here that not only does he land lightly, he lands quietly. I'm not a skater so someone please correct me if what I am saying does not apply to skating, but in dance, if you can land your big jumps quietly, it means you have good feet - strong and flexible with good arch that roll properly from the toe to the heel against the floor when landing which lessens the impact of jumps on your ankles and knees (good feet is better for your joints). Looking at the slo-mo of his 4T, it seems like he is doing something similar. He lands first on the toe of his skate then transfers weight to the heel using the momentum of the jump to get flow going out using his feet. Again, if this is not correct, please comment! This is all supposition on my part by applying what works in dance to skating.
