Finally able to read all the pages hehe:) I was actually not surprised yuzu had a bad skate today, I'm curious why so much gloomy posts (I mean is not like WTT is the most important competition of the season or maybe I'm wrong :p) some people really are underestimating him, maybe some question his mentality again but to me, he just seems to be exhausted, maybe his body is in good condition but his mind needs some deserve rest, after such a long season for him, and all the pressure and expectations he had to handle at every competition specially at Worlds (which I still find amazing how mentally strong he show), let me just say that I'm glad this happen at WTT, it doesn't matter to me how he will skate the FS here, I'm actually more excited to see his beautiful EX, too bad it will be the last this season  so yuzu just finish the competition get rest and recharge for next season:hap10:

Agree with this, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's physically exhausted as well. How many times has he said he's in "excellent" condition (2016 Worlds anyone?) to find out later he was injured, needed surgery, or just completely worn out. Wasn't it Japanese Nationals one year that he was so exhausted that he had to skip the Gala? Then we find out later that he was doing Skype interviews for university during the competition!

(1) new email for Let’s Go Crazy, a.k.a LGC

Dear LGC,

The first time I met you, it was at the CS Autumn Classic. I’ll admit when I first saw you, it’s almost as if I can hear the song “I Knew You Were Trouble” playing in the background. Something about you just never hit me right. No, it’s not because of your upbeat nature, which is a big departure from my previous flamboyant classical ex. Because way before that, there was Parisienne Walkway which has almost the same sass as you, and I think I was at my happiest with him until now.

But I also see the potential in you. How you can always step in at the right moments, your energy, and your ambitious vision of perfection (my friends keep saying that this is bad. But can’t help it, if there’s one common trait among all my ex-es, it’s their ambition, and I like it the way it is). So the next time we met again at Skate Canada, I decided to give you a chance. Maybe we can work this out. Maybe together, we can even achieve a new height, given that you have the quality to do so.

Then, NHK Trophy and GPF 2016 happened. Despite minor problems here and there (hey, we just started), I was really happy during that time I thought that maybe you’re the one. I have tremendously high hopes for 4CC. But that’s where things started to fall apart. I can see how we just cannot solve our differences, in the form of 4S-3T. Well okay, maybe we're just having a bad day, let's try again. Then God knows how hard we tried to make it work out this time during World Championship, but heck, we barely hanged in on one foot. It seemed that... (it's very painful for me to say this) our hardest it’s just not enough.

I started to think that some things are just not meant to be. Ambition is good, but when they’re too much, it’s suffocating. People were saying “hey you know what, you guys went through a lot together! Look at that 4Loops! They are magnificent, and to think that they started off from a very rough patch. Let’s just work harder and keep it for the next season”. I was almost swayed, but deep inside my heart I know it’s time… I always know.

And finally last night at WTT, I decided, I had enough. For all the happiness you’re giving me, you’re also bringing me pain and agony by ten folds. For both our sake, this is our end and we shouldn’t continue this in the future.

However, I did wish that things could end on a better note. We should have done better than the messy screaming and crying, and the remark “I’m giving up on you because you can never be the way I wanted you to be!”. Although, I appreciate how you still tried to hold yourself up to not totally throw things out of the window, and that soft “I’m sorry” at the end, oh... Well, I’m still feeling sorry until now that things ended up like this.

Know that I’m writing this for my own sanity and that I mean it when I say… I’m better off without you. Not that I’m saying I regret giving you a chance, because despite being the hot mess you are, I actually learned a lot of things from you. I will always cherish our happy memories, and on a good day, I might reminisce them again, like when we had that almost perfect date at GPF 2016 (save for you randomly tripping on that pebble) or at NHK Trophy. Thank you for all the happy moments.

We should meet again someday, perhaps for an exhibition gala (but not more than that). You’re always lovely to see once in a while. I hope by then, there will be no hard feeling between us.

But for now, I’m saying goodbye to you, LGC, and I’m not looking back.

Really? I found this https://youtu.be/BYUB3texN68 though I'm not sure if it is really the Gala or an Ice show or something. The year before that he skipped it to get surgery

Am I the only one worried about the effect it could have on next season's scoring?

I would not worry just yet, he is still the reigning World and Olympic Champion and this is the least important of all the competitions he's been at this season ;) had it been Worlds, GPF or 4CC I would worry. I would worry about a GP event even more than WTT.
Let's send him positive vibes and support for the FS, he said the support from his team and fans really helped him at Worlds :ghug:

That's honestly my only worry because WTT seems like that clingy ex who just can't let go 😂

Stayed up last ni- I mean, this morning - to watch the SP live, was in shock afterwards then passed out then work then I come home to this many new pages :eeking:

Well, better bomb at WTT than more important competitions, get it out of his system; next season will be great! Personally I'm hoping for a classical SP (like Etude), a calm yet fierce FS (like Seimei), and a bling-bling-bling EX~ :luv17:

maybe he is physically exhausted as well maybe not, I don't really know, but I prefer to believe he is ok, so let's stay positive and go cheering for him and sending good wishes for his FS :yay:

Off topic again: I found it !

"Kagome pattern originated from reticulation of a bamboo basket. Kagome design is believed to ward off the bad luck, so it’s been used as a talisman as well. Also, it has a meaning to enclose the spirit of a man or a child from wandering. It is designed with things around the water, has been used in many designs."

Thank you! :)

It's too bad having bad skates hurts so much emotionally (for us and for him), because his kuyashii faces are adorable.

his kuyashii faces are adorable, but yes, too bad they only come because he feels sad! (i'd rather he feels happy about his skates and then gives us beautiful smiles instead...)

Yes! Where do I throw in my voting slip? And I'd love some lyrics as well, I really want to start hearing other languages besides English, French, Italian and Spanish for skating programs.

And another triple 'Yes!' to these ^ ^ I agree with your most recent posts so much, makes me wonder if you also (or if anyone else beside me, anyway) love the Swan best of all his programs so far.

i always want to see routines done to different sorts of music, and not just limited to western music

i love to see some traditional, folk, and other types of music that we don't often hear. many cultures have traditional music that are very melodic and rhythmic and work well as dance/skating music.

thank you! :) i love his Notte Stellata program the best out of all his EX. i love pretty much all yuzu's programs but if i had to pick one, then it's H&L for FS and Notte Stellata for EX. these 2 programs take the word "BEAUTIFUL" to a whole new level!!!

Seimei is another special one! i love the use of Japanese music + costume + the character yuzu expresses!

Actually, people mentioning WTT 2015 made me wonder if, even if he had done a perfect LGC, it still wouldn't have been bittersweet. Because he didn't do it at Worlds... So maybe in a way, it's better like this. I'm sure Brian will have a serious and hopefully long talk with him when he goes back to Toronto. Point these things out to him. The peaking. How their plan actually worked out. And so on.

And regarding the difficulty of LGC, I think he might seriously need to think about the pros and cons of risky programs. If it makes him doubt his very ability to do short programs, I'm not sure it's worth it. Actually, I'm sure he will choose risky, increasingly technically difficult programs, because he wants to challenge himself, but I think it might be better for him to put him in the corner a little bit. Make him face some things. I think that might work better than trying to comfort. And I think he knows it, too. He'll appreciate the support, but it won't get into his head where it needs to - on a long term.

I also think his fans wouldn't care less if he popped every jump known to mankind, as long as he's happy. Him being happy is what makes us happy. The problem is what makes him happy.

Though I also had to wonder if maybe LGC was difficult on purpose. We've seen how it made him perform in the FS at 4CC and Worlds. If it worked, it'd pump him up and cash in the points. If it didn't work, it'd get him angry and fired up in a different way and he'd likely make up for it in the FS... If he knows himself really well, he might have gone for it on purpose. And might actually mean he doesn't want to give up on his dark feelings until the FS, to be able to make the most of it.

That's way too much analyzing early in the morning... sorry if it doesn't make much sense. I just can't stop wondering what would help him get even better ^_^

For today, I just want him to have fun and not have any regrets, so he can then enjoy a well deserved holiday! :)

Since he ady got a clean H&L program in World, I hope he will take it easy today and enjoy his time with Japan team and other teams.

And for LGC, I hope to never see you lurking in the corner anymore ( ̄(エ) ̄)ノ

Just spent 2 hours after coming home from work really late with trying to catch up with the last 20 pages or something, and I gotta say, it really is a ride  you guys basically went through every emotion possible, I hope you have some left for tomorrow ;)

That sounds like a pretty negative interpretation of this years WC to me  What I saw was Yuzu having his best WC ever, only making one mistake over the whole competition, giving it his all performance-wise while skating his most difficult programs ever, and most of all winning that title in a super competitive men's field not just with a world record performance, but IMO with the greatest skate in the history of the sport.

I came out after seeing that LP thinking he was mentally stronger than ever. Being mentally strong doesn't make him a machine and means he will never make mistakes. As Yata pointed out, this season was long and difficult, and he has the right to be exhausted and mess up. He peaked at WC, he did everything right. My only regret is that he looked sad about it, but we still have the LP, and he can come back (like he always does after a sub-par SP).
And yes, the media can't be helping him, especially since Yuzu appeared not pleased with any over dramatized rivalries before either. He had it with Takahashi, and we all know that brought some painful memories (remember 2012 nationals and the crowd reacting to him winning?). He refused the talk about "the ace of Japan" before (during the days when the media pushed the rivalry with Tatsuki, I think?). And now I'm sure he's not happy about the media jumping so much on the Shoma rivalry thing. Is it painting Shoma as a bad guy when I say Shoma seems to push for that rivalry angle a lot more instead of feeling the same pressure out of it Yuzu does? (Didn't he say going into this that WTT might be a team competition, but what he wanted most was still to beat Yuzu?). I don't think it is. They're treating this whole thing very differently. And first and foremost I feel so sorry for Yuzu that he has to go through all this again - there is a difference between being fired up by your competition (which I think Yuzu is by Shomas skating) and having tons of unreasonable pressure heaped on you (what the media does). But it won't change, he will have to deal with it somehow, so at least his first time competing in Japan again was at a cheesefest (that I personally like a lot, but it's still a cheesefest). (And can I say I'm really pissed at the Japanese media for heaping on the pressure even for a supposedly fun event? Or in general with all that dumb rivalry pushing? It's most countries media though... I just wished they'd treat all athletes with more respect, which they deserve, and less obviously as clickbait.)

To leave this post on a positive note though - I did after his SP what I always do when I'm sad. I watched Believe. If that doesn't make you think the world is a great place and miracles are possible and you can basically buy happiness in a sparkly orange jar, I don't know what will :luv17:

Thank you for this post and I get so emotional watching Believe (I don't know why...) Well to be honest I get emotional whenever I watch Yuzu skate, but I love his interpretation of the song and everything

Also I think it was in his "Change" EX that he skated to a fast paced (rock?) song with traditional Japanese instruments and it was really energetic and he had awesome steps in it... the fun energy is something I really like to see! :)

Ah, it worked! :)

I love it when his costumes flow in the wind he makes. The Hana ni Nare sleeves were good for that.

Totally agree! His flowy costume for Believe and Hana ni Nare were just excellent for him to showcase his fluid movements! He works the sleeves for Hana ni Nare so well!

I think his Seimei costume was similar to Hana ni Nare except it was stiffer and more shiny :) He worked that costume really well too!

Actually when has he never worked his costumes well? (LOL) They're just so pretty
