Oh good! I'm happy it's not a serious issue. And hey, I'm also glad he's listening to his body as that has gotten him into trouble in the past (as we all know)! Yay to maturing!

I have to say that was my favourite Nathan sp performance this year. It didnt matter that it was a flip combo instead of the lutz ( i think he does flip better anyway), but everything was bang on. All season I've enjoyed his sp (lp not so much) so to see him relaxed and paying more attention to detail made it even better. Well done to him.

Good job from Nathan today. Hopefully he can work on his 3A during the off season. Can't wait to see what they have planned for him for next year. Skaters seem to be announcing their music a little earlier this year, so I hope we'll hear soon. Best of luck in the FS.
The free program was not very clean but I just think Nathan actually has an incredible senior debut season especially being out of ice for 5 months for
recovery from hip surgery in the beginning of the season.
I believe if he stays healthy, he will keep improving and show us he is a skater of complete package next season because he is a super gifted and hard-working young man.

Nathan has done just fine for this season by clearly establishing himself as one of the top contenders for the Olympics.
For next season I feel the biggest difference will be due to Nathan's physical changes. When it comes to strength and stamina his comparative youth puts him at a disadvantage compared to the other top guys, and in the ISU interview he says he's already exhausted after the 2nd jumping pass. So all things considered it's pretty amazing that he already does more quads than everyone else. We've seen just how much Boyang and Shoma improved in just one year and I expect no less from Nathan.

Of course, he knows he's lacking in the components and I honestly think the music in the long program plays a big role in the lower components. In the short program, even though the technical demands are much less than what is required of him in the long program - the music is lighter and I think it brings out the balletic qualities in his skating. The long program music is much more heavy - but I think he does his best in the footwork to try to bring it home. Like sheetz said, with the lack of power that he still has due to his age, I think the music can be overpowering. I'm wondering who will do his programs - will Marina do both? I hope so, she seems to know how to highlight his strengths and he made a lot of progress in that area when he worked with her.
He's a smart competitor and I know he'll be ready to address the component mark. I'd assume he can focus on it even more this off-season considering he's not recovering from an injury like last year. Totally agree about the FS music being too heavy. It's interesting that Artur Dmitriev, who's the stylistic opposite of Nathan, also skated to the same music this season. It sort of works for him because he's a big, lumbering kind of guy, but Nathan really needs lighter, dancier music.

I'd love to see Nathan do his short program to something more modern and upbeat, kind of like his exhibition.
Then for the long program pull out the ballet music, since that is a very good fit for him.

When the skates come off and the fun starts, I'm always so happy to see how friendly they all are with each other! Thx to all these wonderful guys for a great season with lots of excitement! Can't wait to see what they all have in store for us next season.
The banquet photos are always the best. Too bad the Shibs or MCM aren't there to vlog the event.
