Hey guys.. wanted to post during WTT but couldn't because I was in the middle of handling an event and got very busy and tired..

Just wanna say congrats to him for ending the season well and that he is happy. It hasn't been an easy one, but then again, if it's easy it doesn't seem so meaningful. I'm just glad it ended nicely and he has achieved a lot this season. It's true that he'll start off the next season in better condition, hopefully it'll stay that way.

Thanks to all of you keeping this thread so alive it's been a joy (and pain  ) to come visit and follow Yuzu with you all. :thank:

On a side note.. yay for that glimpse of 4Lz!! I'm sure you guys noticed how he barely had any set up for it, which made it even greater and more difficult.
Also, how he's all :yahoo: in the gala is so funny and adorable.. his antics made me

Oh I almost forgot.. the 4A analysis is interesting and he's definitely intrigued. God knows he's already picturing it in his own head how he's gonna practice that. However I believe that he'll take care of his condition properly above anything else.

The figures I've seen are he makes around $800k for each CM and $200k/year from the JSF for using his image in promotional materials and for doing press events for them. Then there are also the amounts he receives from ANA for living expenses, coaching in Canada, travel expenses, equipment upkeep etc and from doing ice shows as a headliner. I'm guessing all that adds up to at least $4-$5 mio a year.

Wow 800k for each commercial is really cheap especially if the contract is for a year. His popularity in Japan is no joke and he probably has the best brand image considering his "hero" and "ace" labels from the media and all of his so called "scandals" are just big BSs. I expect him to get at least a couple of millions dollars for each commercial annual contract tbh

I believe that Yuzuru will go to Worlds in Milan & I intend to go too. (I also believe that he'll continue at least through the 2018-2019 season.) Another possibility for you to see him in person (which I totally recommend) would be to go to another competition he enters next season. I'm hoping he'll do Autumn Classic & also Skate Canada. Although it would require your traveling to Canada, the ticket prices & probably the hotel prices are less than Milan, so the expense might be equal or less. Autumn Classic doesn't have a gala, but Skate Canada does & lets fans watch the gala practice, which is really fun. (& I totally recommend going to the practices. You can sit close and watch him for 20-40 minutes during them.) Or it's possible he'll do Finlandia, Trophee de France or Skate America.

Although, be aware that if you see him, you'll want to see him more, so you might go to one of those earlier competitions & still need to save up for Milan!

I live in the UK so Italy is closer to me. My uncle lives in Milan so I don't think accommodation will be a concern for me. Plus, I will be a medicine student come September and the competition takes place during term time so I have to make my trip relatively short (couple of days). I do imagine seeing him live would be highly addictive but in the end, I'm just a student so I have no choice but to wallow in poverty T_T #foreverbroke I will work my *** off during the holidays to see him again if possible
Thank you so much for your recommendations. I will consider them before making a decision and also for future seasons too
Hope to see you in Milan if I go :)

Morozombie just posted a new entry and I am cracking up: http://morozombie.blogspot.com/2017/04/wtt-20-questions.html
Did anyone else just laugh when Yuzuru Hanyu tried to go for an ina bauer-spread eagle-3A-spread eagle on the fly with virtually no speed coming out of the ina bauer in the last 30 seconds of his Hope and Legacy long program? I thought he was certifiably insane for even trying to attempt that, but I suppose his crazy ambitious attitude is what makes him an Olympic champion and what makes me a schlub with a laptop criticizing an Olympic champion.
And
Did anyone else burst out laughing at the frequent long, lingering close-ups of Yuzuru Hanyu's face throughout the competition, especially at the medal ceremony?

Someone asked at some point for a translation of Yuzuru's message to Mao on the banner Team Japan had at WTT. Not sure if it's been posted yet but yuzusorbet on Tumblr translated his message here.
That was me, thanks! Hamaguri was sweet enough to transcribe it for me earlier because I can't read handwriting worth anything, lol.

Oh by the way, while I was in the hospital, I find my eyelashes on the pillow everyday. In my country every time we drop an eyelash, we make a wish and hope it will come true. I wished to see Yuzuru's 4lz and it happened. I also made a wish to see his 4A one day.

Did you find a third one and wish for a second OGM? Just kidding . I'm glad you're on the mend!

Confirmed, seeing him live is highly addictive, especially practices . I will try go to Milan or any competition in Europe if he attends.
I'll have to second that. I went to Boston just for the LP and even if he won I don't know if it would have been satisfying enough. Helsinki was pretty satisfying since I took the week, saw the practices, etc. And even though Boston is only a two hour flight away, Helsinki was cheaper than Boston would have been if I took a week for it! I do wish I had more opportunities to watch the practices though. With the Olys I'm a little disappointed that I won't have the chance to see practices, but I'm going into it with a different mindset and make sure I'm doing other things than just figure skating stuff. I'd love to go to Milan too but I can't justify doing both. But I do want to see him in more than one event next season so I'm going to try to weigh my options.

I'm in school too, but try to go if you can. They typically have relatively short amateur careers.

In Japan, $800K is a big number for an actor/athlete/celebrity. Mao makes about 400K at the moment, Marin less than 200K

Oh yes! It's hilarious. He needed a longer set up at 4CC for that 3A at the end and it still looked as if it came out of nowhere. At WTT I expected it (after the changes in the layout), so when I saw him do a spread eagle I was like "No way man, what are you doing?" and was actually laughing wholeheartedly when he popped it. +0.09GOE, get these transitions in :laugh2:

The director and the cameramen were certainly providing the viewers with a Hanyufest, but what cracked me up the most was the announcer, who would always change the tone of his (already overhyped) voice to introduce him. And at the gala, I thought he was trying to beat the WR for the longest yu in Hanyuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. I'm pretty sure the one after the encore was the longest one I've heard, even in Japan.

That one got me cracking up :laugh2: it was so looooong. It was obvious, they all know our Yuzu is the megastar of the fs world. And i'm not complaining with Yuzu got the most screen time  It was the last event of the season after all. I could watch him all day and i will never be bored with it.

Meoima! Congrats on your recovery  it was a liitle bit late though  reading your message after Yuzu sp at wtt really help me to cope with what happened, though my friends still sensed something was off about me that day. Oh well, everything went well in the end with Yuzu being all smiley and happy.

Meoima!!!! :yahoo::dance3::hap85::hap10:
With the risk of sounding like Yuzuru, i'm so happy that you are recovering and back with us. You have no idea how much those posts delivered by Yata-pigeon helped to calm me :)
I am feeling better today, because i realized that next season i'm going to see him live  i realized that but i haven't processed it yet... oh well...
I REAAAAALLY hope he does some ice shows, it will help me cope with the post season depression (I don't remember a life without a steady stream of Hanyu news :slink:)
Also, did we have any records on the thread? I know we are the first thread to enter the Real Quad Era but what other remarkable things happened this season on the thread ?

Ugh the cbc guy (kurt browning?) was clearly rooting for shoma to overtake yuzuru. It's a bit painful that most commentators seem to have turned away from yuzuru for shoma

;) oh they're just fed up with Yuzuru's dominance.

But the Skating God is not.

Japanese fans will hate and block me for saying this, if ISU celebrate dirty jumps with cheated take-off, they will regret. The truth is, you can not lie with slow-motion. I love to see they're hating on me whenever I mention this.

I have painful feelings like this as well. But especially at WTT I had to notice how big an effort Yuzu and Shoma are making to show us a warm relationship. And that's their genuine history. They really don't want a fan war; it will only cause them suffering.

Because they just want someone new even with cheated technique. ;) https://youtu.be/qzUv5fWz16Q

I will repeat this to make everyone feel uncomfortable until you guys shut up.

Shoma has his own thread on this forum. Let us discuss it there.
Yuzuru's fixing Zhenia's hair at WTT gala https://media.giphy.com/media/ibDV5cj5q7e9i/giphy.gif

It looks to me he was like: "Something not tidy, I HAVE TO fix"
OCD boy :palmf:
Thank you for sharing! I wondered if anyone captured this moment. Well, I don't blame her for falling after that [emoji23]
