^When I travel I always like to eat the local food but then again I am not a competing athlete far from it, but I have been
lucky I have never gotten sick from eating the local cuisine.

True an athlete probably has a different diet. But then the food is from Ajinomoto and not personally from mom....and 300 kg! I don't think the japanese skaters eat that much, this must also be for the staff. It reminds me of some japanese tv show I watched about japanese soccer players in Germany (I think it must've been Atsuto Uchida or Shinji Kagawa...not sure) basically they play for high level Bundesliga teams who have five star chefs cooking nutricious meals....but this one had a japanese lady come to his flat to clean and cook so he can have his 'home taste'.....it's a very japanese thing to do.

^^^Hamaguri, you're such a good senpai! :thank: :ghug: Thx for educating us. It can only be a good thing for the athletes. I'm sure Shomita was happy, as long as he had meat and rice (and no vegetables!) And what's the #2 thing people miss when living or traveling abroad for extended time? After family and friends, THEIR FOOD!

Wasn't there an interview from Kanako when she won Junior Worlds in The Hague where she ate some local fish and got sick? Honestly if they stay with rice they should be okay. I still think that any fresh finnish fish would be better than something they imported from Japan. But then I would never seek out a german restaurant outside of Germany, so what do I know.

Probably athletes need to be exceptionally careful with what they eat during competition just to stay healthy and avoid any substances that are forbidden by anti-doping regulations. Eating their own food is the most secure way. Judging by Yuzu's reaction at hearing Kanako ate that local fish (he called her baka), I think that's the case. They need to be very prudent when it comes to food. Having such a team supporting them at international competitions is a bless. I am sure athletes from other countries envy them.

By the way, anyone has seen Shoma's Athlete Spirit? I heard that program is like a documentary featuring top top athletes. I really want to watch it. Please if you know where to find it, please let me know. Thank you!!

here is the translation of Shoma's message on his official site (+picture with plushies!!) http://suzumoriyuiko.tumblr.com/post/160037963663/translation-shoma-official-web-site-april-27

also very nice words from Yuzuru about Shoma : https://twitter.com/yuzuigis/status/857236578514735104

It's great that Shoma doesn't have one defining plushie ála Pooh, so he can get all kinds of things....Pikachu and little Jellyfish. *socute* He sounds very mature in his post. I have a really good feeling for next season, because I think the progress he made with his programs during this season was the best "evolution" of any program I've ever seen....it really culminated at Worlds, so he did pace himself right. Skating so clean, being the only skater who was on the small and big podium....wow. He really did grow so much, and there is still room to grow, so I think that his scores also have possibilities to go higher. I hope PCS will rise next season, especially. He doesn't have to hide behind the top guys and his PCS should reflect that.

About the costume maker, she is my absolute favourite...the detail of the close up - amazing. And once you have some distance it looks so different but still sparkly and beautiful. Isn't that the same costume maker who made Marin Honda's R&J dress? And Yuzuru's Seimei? She's awesome. I wonder if it's comfortable to wear these costumes and how much they cost. With all that bling, bling....one thing this version of the costume does amazingly well, is it does make Shoma look taller and less stocky. In one spiral sequence he almost looks frail. Compare that to This Town where you can see his mighty thighs and butt....it's amazing what a costume can do.

Shoma was at the JOC award ceremony today, with Yuzuru and the rest of the WTT team and I believe he presented an award to Mao Asada, but I'm not sure of this part.

Some photos from the stream (warning for terrible quality):

Edit: Here's the video of the award ceremony. At around 26:50 he presents flowers to Mao Asada. Mao was happy to see him!

Shoma looks adorable in that photo and such a sweet message thanking his team, supporters and fans. How can you not love this young man!:ghug:

Nice words indeed from Yuzu, they have a great friendship!

Shoma is in a training camp for JOC until April 30 with Yuzu, Keiji and other athletes.

Here's an interesting snippet of the team building exercises they're doing in that camp.

That looks awkward.....what if you're not comfortable with being so close to someone? I know it's team building but does that need to be so..physical? Poor Shoma. :)

Caption contest:
Shoma: Please, please don't make me do this. I hate this type of stuff!

(And that's what I would be saying too! :laugh2:)

Caption contest: Sheeesh when can I start my vacation (as he rolls his eyes)....
