Evgenia Medvedeva

Ok, untill like 3 weeks ago I've never read any figure skating online discussions/forums, but I'm hugely surprised about how toxic/full of hate the discussions can get LOL, especially considering that this is such an elegant sport... Things almost get as heated as in football discussions and I always thought those are the worst

Anyway, to cheer up a bit, here's a clip of 10 year old (?) Evgenia  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RX3ICos3QcY

Yep. The worst ones are those with passive-aggressive comments:palmf: and the ones wishing ill upon her health:disapp:

Thanks for the video. Cheered me up a lot:)

On Instagram, there's a user who throws insulting comment after comment on every post she makes. The account is dedicated only to hating her, claiming that she has seriously mental problems amongst other things.

I hope she blocks it and not have her affect it much. I don't understand how one person can be so dedicated to hating an athlete like that.

That's one of the Sochi-bots:noshake: I tried reporting that account for spam at Instagram. No action was taken:confused2:.

I reported this account several tiimes and leaved comments on other similar accounts but my comments were always ignored and deleted. I am just so curious about the person who does that all. How old are they? Do they have so much time in their hands to continiously make insulting posts? makes me so angry :ddevil: The hashtag with her name is filled with those posts :curse:

The accounts that came up on hashtag I went and blocked individually. There were like 4 or 5. My search page is relatively clean now. The no life one that posts on her comments is extra annoying. She is a teenager. They should be thrown to jail for such nonsense:disapp: Comes with being succesful I guess. I don't know if she has a manager. They should report it and get it banned.

You can actually block and not see them further. I tried to fight and reported those accounts several times but no action was taken. So at the end I just blocked them and now I don't see them on her hashtag. It helps.

What I understood from different forums is that they may be from a country with no laws in that sphere so when you don't have strict laws you can't do anything against those haters :noshake:

They are Yuna's fans. They hate Zhenya because she break Yuna's world record. It's sooo childish :(
I sort of undetstand their hatred toward Adelina, but why Evgenia? Really ludicrous.

Oh! That's disappointing:disapp:

The girl's strong. And supported by a good family. Let's just ignore the negativity from people with no life and enjoy the Olympic season I think :)

They actually seem to hate every Russian skater. I saw accounts bashing Pogo as well.

Oh I wonder why didn't I block them earlier. Now I feel so much better not seeing all those rediculous posts. :dev2:

Most of the hate that she get are almost always from a Korean fan. There is an Instagram account that's called sochiscandal and they always tag Adelina and Zhenya to photos of doping. What I don't understand is why they tagged Zhenya when she didn't even compete in Sochi. They always bother her about her lutz, and I just get mad because it not like she ignores her mistakes and doesn't want to fix it. Honestly, I don't know what is the big deal about it that they have to mention it every time; it is just one small error and they act like she is the only one has that problem and overlook her other talent and quality that make her a champion. I only started to follow figure skating when Zhenya became a senior and I just noticed that Korean fan are so mean. They bashed Mao, Adelina and others who has something to do with Yuna. I get that some don't like her programs and I understand that because figure skating is art and everybody react to art differently but it doesn't negate the fact that she was and is the best.

I think you're overreacting. :slink:

I know many korean fans of figure skating and Kim Yuna that are very good people and very good fans. BTW I'm myself a fan of Kim Yuna. There are only few crazy fans (from all over the world, not only from Korea) but you just see their comments everywhere so you may think that they are a majority but in the fact they are really a minority...

Zhenya knows how loved she is by her fans. She always says that it gives her strength and support. I think our ultimate weapon against every hate is more love and support for our favorite without putting down or humiliating other skaters.

The block feature on Instagram is a wonderful thing. Don't waste your time looking at that crap.

I do worry about the Russian girls who will compete in Pyeongchang. It only takes one crazy unhinged person to cause problems. :ohwell: Hopefully there will be excellent security there.

at this point, i'm also worrying about Japanese skaters. :scratch2:
And I hope in Pyeongchang will be 50% or more - Japanese fans who support everyone.

Unfortunately tran is right. Of course not all Korean/Yuna fans are terrible but majority of mean comments comes from them. And it isn't only instagram but youtube as well. If it was any constructive criticism I'd accept it but it's just meaningless hate. They were even bashing Zhenya's change of entry to Lutz and her fall at WTT gala.
Also I'm little bit afraid because anonymous internet hate is one thing and being booed during live competition is another and the latter is really possible in Korea.

I don't think other Russian skaters will have problem (at All That Skate(s), there were many Russian skaters and nothing like that happened), other that obviously Adelina if she will somehow pull off a miracle to qualify and Zhenya, honestly I don't think anyone really care (hate-ish, I mean) about her breaking Yuna's records other than obssesed Yuna fans but I guess they may be colder/ less cheering, I hope there won't be booing, I don't think there will though because how much FS fans like to generelise Yuna's fans with that Sochi mess, most of them just live in internet and all of that is talk. Plus, lots of fans there will be other nationalities, especially Japanese fans. Let's hope everything will go peacefully :hap10:

Don't worry about her perception of those rude comments, I saw her video made on-line through Periscope - there were some extremely provoke and sex-related comments but Med even didn't show a flicker of interest as they were typed with transparent font. I sure she is 100% immuned to this.
