2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

I really don't get the point of starting this argument? Someone was given an apartment by a company? Ok? Where is the huge problem?

Apparently Yulia hasn't been fulfilling her "obligations" to keep Sweet Dream as a fan and to be worthy of receiving gifts. I am sure she will lose lots of sleep over the former.:rolleye:

With this logic Yuna Kim has not fulfilled her obligations as endorsements she received from sponsors are dozens (hundreds?) times more than Yulia's. And the Olympic games are going to be in Korea.

Sadly your SWEETHEART is retiring. Goodbye, My Love... :cool2:

Your yesterday’s post: „Anyway, calling anyone a hater or something so easily at this forum is just too silly”. And right you are, no need to call you, it’s obvious to anyone if only reading that last post. Once someone posts it’s cool if a certain skater might have to retire, no additional pointing out is necessary. :palmf:

I don't see the problem with Yulia receiving an apartment at all.

In Western Countries sportsmen (and it's almost always men) have received way, way more from sponsoring companies.

Find it weird to call this one girl out for getting a little bit of the same.

Is this the "State of Russian Ladies Skating" Thread or "MTV's Cribs - Julia Lipnitskaia Edition"? :slink:

Looks like yeah. But anyway not much news right now , so why not to discuss about the "missing girl ". Btw is Yulia retiring ? I know that she or anyone else didn't really coment on this at all ,but what do you guys think ? Because to me it looks like that. She wasn't training for few months obviously she put few kilos on ,which wouldn't be a big deal, but did she start to train again in Sochi ?

There was no official statement about her retirement so I assume she still wants to compete. However with the current depth of Russian ladies' field it will be extremely hard for her to make it to national team. Also as for today she has no GP assignment. Of course there is still Challenger series and some smaller competitions. Not to mention she still has an enormous fanbase.

The last I heard, Urmanov said they were preparing for the test skates in September. I don't think there's been any offical word on her since.

As far as her putting on weight, while I'm sure she put some on - naturally someone goes from training for competitive skating to a fractured hip she's not going to be able to exercise...but she's wearing some very baggy layers and her hair is cut much shorter than we are used to seeing - and short hair especially framing the face can make your face look fuller than it actually is.

Here's another thing - I know she's extremely popular in Russia, is it really a good idea to take a free apartment where everyone is going to know what complex/building you live in? Seems like a good way for some real creeps to turn up.

I've seen some posts on Instagram that Yulia is pregnant...

I saw this as well. The account, whose legitimacy I am unsure of, is claiming Tatiana Tarasova confirmed this news. I'm waiting to see if the account has attached an official statement, right now I'm regarding it still as uncertain.

Well, this definitely puts things into perspective, if this turns out to be false news, I will not feel so bad if she announces her retirement. I felt like if my little sister had told me she's pregnant :slink:

This isn't the first time there's been pregnancy rumours about some female skater - it seems to be the go-to explanation for some people when it comes to any anomaly. "What is up with Female Skater X? Why is she --- ?" - "Can she be pregnant?" - "I bet she's pregnant!" - "Is she pregnant?!" - "She's so pregnant, you guys!"

Wasn't Ksenia Stolbova "pregnant" when she and Fedor missed Worlds'? It's also been the case with others. I swear, we'll soon have a kindergarten full of imaginary babies...
