As always -- I just don't know where to look! Thank you, Chief Detective! And you WOULD have to include that Ladies In Lavender one. :scard8: The green pants are brutal, but I love them with Shoma in them! As always, he makes any costume look good!

ETA -- I'm almost thinkin maybe we need a caption contest for the green pants. I think my entry would be "Thank goodness I'm getting $5,000 to wear these pants!"

According to this Twitter user you were right about the first jump. Shoma is possible doing 5 quads :hpull: :dbana:
 
Hungarian Shomita! Too cute! I feel a new avatar coming on!...I will believe the 4Lz when I see him training it with my own eyes. Everyone is pushing it and I'm not so sure he is into it!
 
4Lz? Why the sudden 4Lz? If anything, I thought he would pick up 4S again? Lutz is his least favorite jump (and Yuzu 4F/flip in general if I remember it right) and not to mention how often he got edge call on his 3Lz. Shoma and lutz are not friends.

I think he's open and willing to try new quads, but he's not gonna push himself hard. I get the impression that he's focusing on maturing his skating for now.

Well, Shoma is definitely not saying 'no' to 4Lz in his interviews, and he clearly tried it in his practice (I even remember seeing a video of Sho attempting 4Lz somewhere), so I am not sure what to expect. Lutz is not one of his strong jumps, of course, but who knows. I'd love to see him trying 4S instead of lutz in competitions, but apparently salchow is not going well in the practice. I am sure Shoma realizes that he needs to up his technical base in order to compete for gold at the Olympics -- and we saw his determination to do so even at that show (e.g., he put 4F in the second half).
What is clear though is that he will not be doing 3A at the beginning of his FP (that was the sense of my original message quoted above by Bel), simply because there are too many 3A's at the moment, and so it is a substitute for something else. Could be another 4F, could be 4Lo switched from the second position, or 4Lz (?).
 
I love Shoma's 3A's. The 3A is my favourite Shoma jump especially considering its history in Shoma's career. I would rather see him jump all the 3A's than any quad, to be honest.

I think we're all kind of worried about the possible inclusion of the 4Lz. Still, I think Shoma constantly keeps challenging himself and work, work, work on his weaknesses until it finally clicks. The 3A is the best example of that. Questionable is, if it's going to happen until February, but who knows, perhaps the Gold Medal at the 2018 Olympics is not Shoma's career end goal? One thing is for sure, he has to keep up and add new stuff to not be left behind. I think Nathan is going to soar even higher this season. And there are new talents coming, he cannot rest on his laurels, like it was possible in the generation before, let the PCS do the work and be done with it. Even if it's hard and he doesn't want to. It's quite similar to Worlds and the added Quad Loop. I thought he was crazy to add these difficulties during the season and never thought he would skate it clean, but he can, he proved me wrong. So I think by now, never say never, with Shoma. He has the determination and grit to do it.

I love his 3A-3T and the 3 jump combo with the 3A. I also still remember him saying he'd rather jump a quad than do a 3Lz. So how he got from that to a 4Lz? I don't know. Time will tell, I guess. :luv17:

Well, 4Lz sounds like a perfect compromise -- a quad (better than lutz), but still a lutz. :rofl:
I think he just thought one day (with that head tilt, of course): if I really have to jump a lutz, it'd better be a quad. :laugh:
 
I'm back. there're mainly Dai & Mao fans, also NOONE called any...only I did Shoma call, yes lol. Nagoya culture? quiet.
First all danced like ballet with ritual dance music, then Shomita did Lavender & Winter. good jump & combo. Actually same to Osaka's the ICE, only he chose Winter today. I feel his combo&jump are getting more stable. Chukyo local TV'll broadcast it, I must search it too as I can't watch chukyo channel.

I'm sure that his signature 3-jump combo will be there again. We'll see about the quads. The current show-layout suggests that they're looking at having Sho do 5, which hints very strongly at the 4Lz being one of them, but that doesn't mean that's the be all end all imo. Sho might experiment with different layouts during the first part of the season to see what he feels most comfortable with and brings him closest to the desired results. Could be the 4Lz is only a backup plan in case he feels he needs it, because of what everybody else is doing... I agree with you that we'll see soon enough. :)

I know someone, who went to The Ice in Nagoya too. Didn't hear back from her yet. Maybe I'll detect her on the broadcast, I'm sure she had her d1sk banner with her.

Of course I continue to be incredibly jealous of the huge amount of shows you're attending. ;) What I would give to see that Mao tribute medley live! Once again thank you for sharing your experience with us. :cool: If you don't mind me asking, which one of the shows you went to this off-season was your favourite? (I forgot, if you'll be at Friends on Ice as well.)

I just read there was an exclusive party for Mao fanclub members in a closed rink where Shoma skated Ladies in Lavender in his magical purple velvet pants and Daisuke did Kissing you (don't know about the other skaters). Going by the costumes that seems to be where the picture is from. :yay:
