Me!!!!! I want to know!!!! Apparently there are a lot of interviews on YouTube, unfortunately they don't have subtitles. What are they saying, what their programs are?

But how did they score when they were at the same competition and clean? This question is more important. Anna bombed.
 
^^ Let the record speak for itself, koatcue. Of the 3 competitions where they competed head to head last season, Kaetlyn bested Anna in 2 of 3 comps., with better jumps, landings, consistency, and has the best overall score. Enough said!

I can't remember the 3rd competition? Throughout the year Anna was more consistent while Kaetlyn was great in the short and then fall apart in FS. Moreover, Kaetlyn is no.1 in team Canada, she's supported by her federation and Anna is not.
And now, please, go to the Kaetlyn's thread and discuss her there.

Oh, but unless Anna skates cleanly, any and all victories Kaetlyn earns against her are illegitimate! :laugh: :sarcasm: Kaetlyn could go clean and Anna could have errors and the talk would be "Well, Osmond only won because Pogo made errors." Although I wonder if people would similarly dismiss any win by a solid Anna over a flawed Kaetlyn. ;)

As for undermarking of Anna as a response, well I'm sure many think Osmond is under marked too, including Osmond herself! :p

Finland was the 3rd competition. Where, ironically (given your statement), Anna was leading after the SP, and then fell apart in the FS ending up with bronze - while Kaetlyn was trailing but had a strong enough FS to win the gold. ;)

And you really wanna talk falling apart on freeskates given Anna's unfortunate Worlds? I agree Anna had a more consistent year - especially the two GP golds. But at the biggest competition she did poorly (although injury could have been a factor). Kaetlyn on the other hand, brought her best to Worlds, even if it wasn't her cleanest (in the FS of course).

And why do you say Anna isn't supported by her federation? She receives meagre funding? She has to fight for opportunities? She doesn't get the hype that other Russians get and was dumped by the fed? Lol... somewhere Leonova is playing the world's tiniest violin.

Yes but at Euros she won silver and earned her spot at Worlds, and was lucky Zag did JWC.

Two GP golds, a Euro silver, a GPF bronze... she had all the momentum. That's why she took her FS issues so hard.
 
so Trusova is going to try jumping quad at the all competitions of the season :agree:
Guylayakova is going to add 3a during the season. But will not jump 3a at the 1st JGP.

Masha out skated her without question IMO. I may think Anna is under appreciated at times but she did not skate to her potential at RN and Masha did plenty to surpass her. I think Anna was sick or had an injury anyway. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised to see Masha continue to beat Anna going forward...she seems less wild to me with maybe even a bigger ceiling for potential. Anna's reputation of inconsistent performances and flopping falls is a far bigger enemy to her than anything else. I say this as a fan of both skaters but I do admit that I'm starting to prefer Masha and I think it's only a matter of time before the judges might begin to agree with me on the international stage.

We'll see....sounds like Masha is a backloading tano popper girl now so maybe she'll start imploding from time to time herself. :laugh:

And that is why fans are saying Anna had a more consistent season than Katelyn. Anna had one big meltdown. Anna skated clean-ish at all her competitions after entering the GP season (even at nationals when dealing with an injury), and also proved to have nerves on steel for fighting during the second half of her Euros LP. Anna was considered throughout the season the only possible competitor of Evgenia. Kaetelyn made costly mistakes in every single LP she skated except for Worlds and was always seen as great potential, too inconsistent who could potentially threaten the top skaters if she holds it together once in a blue moon. But she did at worlds.

With that said, having a more consistent season does not equal having a more successful season. Here - it is debatable whether 2 GP silvers and a world silver is better than 2 GP golds, GPF bronze and Euro silver. Anna meddled at GPF and Euros while Kaetlyn failed to do so (GPF and 4CC). World is still, however, the most important competition of the season and Kaetelyn did ended her season on a high note (and was also close to the podium at both 4CC and FPF) while Anna had one of the worst meltdowns ever. So in terms of success, IMO, nobody would be wrong in saying that Anna / Kaetlyn had a more successful season. It is also irrelevant. Kaetlyn has the road clear in front of her this season while Anna has may obstacles to overcome before even thinking about the Olympics.

A woman, who was there, said Gulyakova got thinner and her jumps got higher :) And she looked impressive (clean SP, clean (?) FS)
 
Why does someone as average as Alina in carriage and movement quality insist on skating to these classical ballet programs that will only amplify everything she's not?t
