Is it necessary to come up with half-baked theories to explain why others appreciate different skaters than you? People just have different tastes and skaters can resonate with them (or not) for any reason at all...the qualities that matter to you may not be as important to someone else, and vice versa.

You're right, psychoanalyzing your interlocutors isn't very elegant, it's just that the unanonimous love for the youngest Nastia here overwhelmed me little bit. It's my defence reaction to the phenomenon I can't fully understand. :hopelessness:

Debutant Panenkova can't beat clean, decorated sophomore Rika Kihira with 3A. I would stop watching JGP, if that happened. :sarcasm:

decorated? kihira didn't win anything, except for 1 jgp. she was 11th at japanese juniors nationals, while panenkova was 5th at russian nationals
kihira rarely skates clean, but panenkova can easily beat even clean rika in TES, she is very close to her in BV, since all of her jumps in the second half, and she should have higher GOEs because of higher quality of the jumps.
and after tarakanova's and gulyakova's PCSs i'm not sure anymore what's international judges gonna do with panenkova's second mark

I dare to say 194 international score with clean perfect triple axel should mean a bit.

Rika landed 8 clean triples in her LP last season. The first woman to ever do that, Junior or Senior. That's an amazing historic feat and I'd dare say more of an achievement then a Junior Nats or JGP gold.

it's an amazing achievment and i applaud her for that, but i'm not sure that rika's 8 triples worth more TES than dasha's 7 triples, the highest TES in juniors is still alina zagitova's 7 triples program

JGP Poland: Kostornaya has been added to the list, so the rumours were true, but only as a substitute so far. Tarusina has been taken off the substitute list. That Open Moscow Junior Championship proved to be important (cf. Danielian losing both of his JGP placements after bombing spectacularly). Gubanova is also not on the substitute list any more. Konstantinova is in the same position as Gubanova - if she bombs, they'll almost certainly replace her in her second event.

Sad but this can be one of her(Konstantinova) last chances internationally.
She probably is my favorite underdog, and i would like to see her more internationally, but she is already 17 and haven't yet won olympic or at least worlds/europeans medal, so chances are that she will be blown away by a new wave of juniors and will not be able to get even one assignment then.

She couldn't have won any of those medals in juniors though, unless you mean Junior Worlds. Her advantage is that her problems aren't technical in spite of her "advanced" age.

If Leonova can get assignments (though probably not any more)... Stasya's main job is to get a high SB in whatever way she can. Then she can get GP assignments. If they did more Senior Bs last season she might have done it then, but they only managed one. Leonova did three and look where she is. This season I believe they are planning to do more, hopefully they find time. This is why people have thought that Rostlecom Cup would have been a better choice - not need to waste time on Russian Cup events. The only way to avoid those events now is to make the JGPF. But of course you are right that she has to skate well and not to tempt the Fed's patience.

Konstantinova didn't start skating seriously till very late, that has to be remembered. She had to play endless catch-up. So far her results have improved every season, while many girls experience a fall-off around age 15-16. Not that she didn't struggle with puberty, it's just that she wasn't really much better before puberty. Now if only she could fix her nerves... Chebotareva seems to specialise in late bloomers, though Kolyada started at a normal age, but he spent quite some time trying to "find himself" around his early teens. Ergo - catch-up.

Moscow lists for Stage I of the Russian Cup (15-19 September) are out. Vasilieva is skating in Juniors - preparation/not really counting on getting that JGP spot after all?.. Also Emelianova, Kurakova, Safonova, Sinitsina, Tsibinova. Seniors: Avstriyskaya, Gracheva, Ivankova (request from her club to replace her with Gushchina), Mikhailova, Shuboderova (who was looking for Shuboderova?). Kostornaya withdrew on 31 August for medical reasons.
