2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

Alena would have to face in Belarus just Rino Takino and Tessa Hong while in Poland she will have to face Eunsoo, Starr, Moa and Aurora Cotop. I believe Trusova would have pretty big chance to win in Poland but I doubt Alena will take golden medal there.
If you've seen Alyona skate, you'd know that the only one who could be a problem for her out of your list is Eunsoo (or her own rinkmates).

This!!! This is quite true
Right now her biggest competition is other Tutberidze stars. I'd say she'd have no problem beating Eunsoo, at least technically

I think any girl from Eteri's squad can beat Eunsoo. It seems Eteri dosen't want her skaters to compete against each other at JGP events before finals.

Agreed. It's a smart technique, though, because it means that they can all win golds and ensure their second spot and JGPF qualifications.

Dunya wasn't slower than she is.
ok, i'm tired of that!
look i understand that you're not russian and stuff like that, but it just sounds sooo weird for a russian ear :roll9:
she is not Dunya!!! she is Dasha!
Evdokia/Avdotia -> Dunya (and Evdokia/Avdotia are actually very oldstyle and rare names, so you can hardly meet any Evdokia in skating or anywhere else)
Daria -> Dasha

P.S. no offense, just trying to explain :coffee:

I follow a girl on Insta who went from Sonia to Sonya but on her World Cup score sheets she shows up as Sofya. It's like all types mind games on my poor American mind.

Sorry not sorry for the :otopic:

that is actually correct, Sofya is a full name, and Sonya/Sonia is a derivative form (both pretty much the same just different transliteration into English - thats because we have a letter "я" in russian which is transliterated as "ya" or "ia" and both seems to be correct)

Finally someone said it! Its been bugging me too. I just dont understand where it is coming from.

I hope Eunsoo will kick some Russian butt in JGP and the final, because you guys got too cocky. :p

Daria appears to be slow, and at times have trouble to keep up with the music. I would put Alisa ahead of her.

Im pretty sure Daria has more speed and acceleration/control of the speed which is percived as she used ice rink much better during her program. Maybe she is trained better but anyway her use of the speed in this particular performance is the main reason why her PCS mark is judged higher.

Even with the clean programs Eunsoo will lose to clean Kostornaya.
Who's Kostornaya to Eunsoo Lim, multiple JGP medalist and 4th place JWs finisher? Reputation matters.

Tarakanova at least had been two times Russian novice champion (2015,2017).

Yes, Eun Soo has a stronger reputation so PCS could be in her favour, although technically from what i've seen Kostornaya's programs are much more demanding and the bv is much higher. But let's the ice rink decides who deserves to win, right?

Let the better girl win. I also doubt that Kostornaya will win but I don't take Eunsoo's "reputation" into the account. Actually there no component like "reputation" in CoP so I have no idea why it should matter :rolleye:

I even didn't know about that. As if some of the Russian local events are counted. Nobody cares about her home-titles. But at international arena she just showed up and won. Same fate awaits Alenka if she will skate clean.
