While I really liked Kostornaya at the competition a week ago, I would like to point out that we don't know how she is going to skate outside Russia. This will be her first international competition, and it is different to skate well at internal competition when there is no pressure, no one expects perfection, all the top girls are not there, and completely different matter to skate at international competition where the expectations are sky high. We don't even know whether she can be consistent and skate two clean programs. Yes, she did manage it at one home competition, but will she manage to repeat it under pressure? I know she is from Tutberidze and Tutberidze's 'magical touch' may have worked, but just to remind that this 'magical touch' did not work on everyone. Yeah well, maybe I'm rushing things. But for example, I've never seen clean Tarakanova in both programs, despite her already third season in the Russian Junior elite. She was 10yo when she competed among 12-13yo girls. It says something about her talent. And now her international debut, the first skating in the season and... She's clean.
What about Mitrofanova, this girl never had a big talent. I mean, she is good skater but even with clean programs she earned around 100-110 points. Axel's combos and etc. Same with Eteri's daughter. Btw, as already mentioned, she's skating in the ice dance now. I'm not impressed by their FD, but their SD is very good. She is beautiful. I liked her smile. But she almost always looks sad.
Kostornaya as well as Tarakanova has a big talent. She already showed very good results in 12yo. But she's not always was clean and also got injured. So I expect from her very good skate now, especially after what I've seen at Open Moscow Cup.
I also wanted to notice bad signs about Russian ladies schools.

She has, but if her hearing doesn't prevent her doing ice dance, I don't think it would impact on her freeskating. In ice dance one has to hear the rhytm, in freeskating it is not as essential to stick to the beat. Hearing imparment definitely was not a reason why Tutberidze's daughter's jumps were not consistent.
It seems that CSKA lost interest on junior skaters after Sochi, while Tsareva came out of nowhere with Anna Pogorilaya.
So now outside Eteri and Mishin/Mishina (who are still doing fine with junior skaters), there is this space for new coaches like Ilya Klimkin or even Plushenko.
I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing but the future of Russian ladies skating is depending too much on Eteri Tutberidze.
Hey, don't forget about Svetlana Panova. Tarakanova is her previous student, and even now she trains Sinitsyna, Kanysheva, Tsybinova. All these girls are very talented. But I have doubts about their future because all of them can't show stable results (it's the main Panova's problem, same situation was with Tarakanova).
Also Alina Pisarenko, coach of Serafima and Elena Pavlova, now has Sofia Moroz. And I don't know who trains Kamila Valieva.

I can't wait to see Masha land that 3z(tano)-3t. It's going to be so monstrous that the judges will fall out of their seats. I loved her StSeq and think while this isn't the most obvious and attention getting program....she might sneak in and get rewarded a few times this year with a couple of big medals 
I like understated programs like this....especially when we see so many technically overloaded programs.
I'm just hoping her FS is something that can push her up the FS rankings into podium finishes. There is just something I've always liked about this one :yes:

Mainly Yelim Kim from South Korea. Very strong technical skater with 100% backloading and some beautiful jumps. Also very talented in skating overall. I'd expect Trusova 1. and Kim 2. personally, but we'll see. Hopefully it will be a great event with great skates.
