Max Aaron

"Table of Trust" at the OTC:

Wonder if that athlete-coined (I assume?) appellation is mostly light-hearted??
Or something that the gang also takes more seriously in a way??
In any case, a lot of friendship and mutual support :ghug: there, it seems.

#OTC

Meanwhile ... I get the impression that Max has been wearing the USFS Destination PyeongChang t-shirt with some frequency . (Maybe he has more than one??)
Good inspiration, I bet.

Two of the Max things in the Aug-Sep 2017 issue of Skating magazine:

Mention of Max as one of the skaters who lent time and expertise to 2017 Jump On It! Camp:

Quotes from Max after the Aerial Team Challenge:

ETA:
Forgot to mention Ashley Wagner's another site AMA ... in which someone (legit) inquired about Ashley's pick for a pairs partner, which was the perfect segue for someone else  to ask about her lifts with Max. Ashley gave an affectionate response re "Maxy" :).

ETA (on Aug 15):

An oldie-but-goodie photo (very cute) of Max and Agnes Zawadzki (at 2014 Nats) using recovery pants is the first of a batch tweeted by IN today in honor of #NationalRelaxation Day:

ETA (on Aug 17):

Just now stumbled across some photos I never had seen before -- from last year's edition of the Rising Stars Mini-Camp at the World Arena.

The first one shows a sit-down seminar with Max, Mirai, Alexa, Chris.
And do not miss the fifth photo :luv17: -- a blurry but sweet image of SnuggleBat working on ice with a young skater.

ETA (on Aug 18):

Max's workout playlist has been added to the USFS Spotify offerings. (Accompanied by another nice photo.)

I know the absence of Josh from Champs Camp is very upsetting :sad4:.

Hope that no one minds that I will make note of a happy/sweet bit from the shoot for the class photo.
Made me smile that in this video from the shoot, SnuggleBat lives up to his nickname :ghug:.

And I am a huge Boitano fan, so I am tickled that he is one of this year's keynote speakers (along with Peggy Fleming).

New ISU PBs for Max at 2017 U.S. Classic :dance2::

Before 2017 US Classic, his ISU PBs had been:

Total Score 258.95 (2015 Skate America)

FS 172.86 (ISU World Championships 2016)

SP Technical 48.18 (ISU CS Tallinn Trophy 2015)

FS Technical 93.16 (ISU World Championships 2016)

http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs_pb_00010531.htm

Congratulations to Max :yay:.
Thanks for thrilling us with awesome performances of both your SP and your FS.

Wonderful bonus for him to share the podium with his dear friend Liam.
When they first saw each other after their SPs, SnuggleBat was absolutely beaming as they shared a big hug :ghug: before the FS draw.
Lovely also to see Max looking so happy at the medal ceremony.

:bmrk: 2017 U.S. CLASSIC :bmrk:

Well done, Max, at the Salt Lake City event! Silver is noteworthy! Maybe this will include him back with the discussion of men contenders for the US Olympic team. Lately, I see him ommitted and, after yesterday, I think that's a mistake. The judges seem to be appreciating his technical and emerging artistic efforts. Hopefully he has 2 GPs this year to show his value. Although Nathan Chen is a well-deserved winner of the event for his jumps, I would still rather watch Max and Liam Firus.

Really happy for Max, and happy that he looked so happy at the medals ceremony. Yes, I did see a difference in his skating, and better connection to the music. At the same time, he looked like he was having fun out there and believed in what he was doing.

Both of these programs are simply magnificent. I know people will complain because they're warhorses but they're just so perfectly done. They show off the best in his skating and his ability and this is all of the work of the last five years rolled up into a stunning, Olympic-ready package.

At the moment, Max is #1 in the ISU Season's World Rankings :).
(Yes, Max, Paniot [#2], and Dolensky [#4] all have the advantage of points from one Challenger and one senior international: SLC and Philadelphia.
And the rankings will be changing week by week. Just wanted to make note of the current snapshot.)

Phil Hersh discussed Max and SLC in Episode 42 of IceTalk. At about the 52-minute mark.
Among Phil's comments of praise :ghug:: "Max is not only making a huge effort to make this Olympic team, but Max is a mensch ... just a pleasure to talk to him."

Phil's tweet that he "was especially struck by gracious & insightful comments" from Max and Mirai re Nathan and Marin:

For posterity, Phil's articles after the men's SP and FS:

And the IN photo galleries from SLC:

Small things making me smile :):

Max was ready for his close-ups  ... at the style/fashion shoot for Skating magazine (all Champs Camp skaters took part, I think?).
GQ-worthy shots of Max in his bold plaid suit. #GoBigOrGoHome

Also from Champs Camp, a still from the goofy portion of the shoot of the class photo.
(We saw the corresponding video earlier in which SnuggleBat was smothering his buddy Zach Donohue with love. :ghug:)

At the moment, on the http://www.usfigureskating.org/ home page, a photo from Max's SP in SLC is the thumbnail for Latest Photos under the Multimedia tab of the IceNetwork section.
The thumbnail will be changed sooner or later, but for now, nice to see Max.

ETA:

Hmmm ....

weisigeraudrey
Impressive session, quads from Vincent and Max, triples everywhere! Thanks for inviting me Tom Z. Excited to get to work.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BZy2lfljsFv/?taken-by=weisigeraudrey (Oct 3)

(Beside the point, but I could not pick Max out of the many skaters in the video snippet.)

Wonder whether Audrey means that she is visiting the World Arena Ice Hall to work with Max, among others???

ETA:

A good  (and not previously seen, AFAIK?) video snippet of Max as he works out in the gym is within the production reel posted on Oct 2 on the personal account of James Aitken, who is USFS video production coordinator.

My ears need help, but I think(?) the question Max is asked (at approx. 1:30) is: "What is your least favorite workout?"
And then: "Why?"

Also, brief shot (at approx. 0:28) of Max from "Catching Up With Team USA." And an image of Gladiator Max is in a montage (at approx. 1:53).

ETA (on Oct 4):

;) Max apparently didn't get the wardrobe memo, but he's all in for a cute mini-vid with rink-mates:
https://www.instagram.com/p/BZzjWkmBZNj/?taken-at=1012066195 (Oct 3)

News *flash* ;) re Max's social media :

"It's not that Aaron does not want to reach out to his fans .... This season, Aaron has vowed to post at least every two weeks" -- per Lynn Rutherford's Champs Camp reporting in the Oct issue of Skating magazine.

http://content.digitalpub.blue-soho...SKATING/html/index.html?page=15&origin=reader (page 13 of the magazine)

Among other things, Max says, "I try to fit to my demographic."

I think his post yesterday nailed the demo :) -- with a great caption for one of the handsome photos from the Champs Camp style shoot. Over 1500 likes on Instagram at this point.

The Oct issue also has a full-length shot of Max in his fashionable suit, along with his quote about his personal style.

Plus coverage of the fundraiser for Lucy Barrett, with Max mentioned as a cast member and seen in a curtain-call photo.

ETA:

Forgot to mention the Champs Camp team-building group photo including Max. Previously published elsewhere, but nice to see it again.

Also a (non-goofy) version of the Champs Camp class photo without the auction winners:

ETA:

And I forgot that I wanted to post these Max gifs from USFS:

Just noticed that the NBC Olympics site has an athlete page for Max :dance2:.

I wish that it mentioned Max's Skate America gold, but I should not quibble.
The good news is that NBC is showing that Max is in contention for the Olympic team .

(The NBC Olympics site has pages for Nathan, Vincent, Jason, and Adam as well. But we already knew that the others were on NBC's radar.)

USFS YouTube - Meet Max Aaron: Taking Ownership - - https://youtu.be/ph9Z7A3HrnU.

Very nice video. :)

Thanks for the link.
Great video. Go, Max :yay:.

ETA (on Oct 17):

A photo of Max in a Team USA shirt holding an Olympic-esque torch:

BTW, the other athlete in the photo is wrestler Robbie Smith, who was a major presence in the OTC "Can't Stop The Feeling" music video.
(CGC17 is some kind of corporate I.T. conference being held in Colorado Springs. The schedule includes: VIP Party - U.S. Olympic Training Facility.)

ETA, another Max-with-torch photo: https://www.instagram.com/p/BaYANuFhobr/?taken-at=900460 (Oct 17)

Reminds me that (IIRC) the link to the USFS photo of Max in a Destination PyeongChang shirt is not in this thread yet.

And another older link for the thread: Max makes a cameo appearance (at approx. 0:55) in the USFS "23 Questions with Karen Chen" video.
https://youtu.be/CysrD96yvIA?t=55s (2:17, posted Aug 27)

Max was the subject of one the USOC "My Focus" shoots today.

Team USA's Instagram stories give some cool glimpses of Max's shoot .

Max's shoot seemed to be in a ballet studio.
(IIRC, a very similar set-up with similar lighting has been used in the past for shoot(s) with Patrick and/or Liam when they trained in Colorado Springs?)

Per the Instagram stories:
"Max's focus this season? His mental toughness."
"It's all about balance ... in skating and in life."

(Max was the third shoot of the day, so preceding Instagram stories show the first shoot, which happened to be with Jason :), and the second, which was with Paralympian @grizzlygabel. Apparently the best was saved for last ;).)

USFS has posted a slew of additional Max gifs.

Unlike the previous three, the new ones seem to be taken from an otherwise unseen (AFAIK) Max shoot (probably at Champs Camp?).

Lots of cuteness with some goofiness mixed in.

oh my god send help the max gifs are too cute i think i'm dying

But wait, there's more ...:

Stumbled upon some (new-to-me) mischievous  cuteness from young teen Max.

I apparently can't get away from him :reye: even when my innocent intention is only to view a 2007 Nats interview with the adorable duo of Mirai Nagasu and Caroline Zhang (after they placed first and second in Junior Ladies). Terry Gannon and Kurt Browning interviewed them.

Someone starts video-bombing :laugh15: at about 0:16 ... and even gives a wave at approx. 2:30 before making his exit.

https://youtu.be/MObZCjKHFaY?t=16s (2:57 in total length)

ETA:
If anyone else is curious, Max placed fifth in Novice Men at 2007 Nats, behind Armin Mahbanoozadeh, Alex Johnson, Keegan Messing, and Scott Dyer. Max moved up to Junior the following season.

ETA:

By coincidence, more throwback Max bits are in Jason's new vlog, which is a very enjoyable :) show-and-tell about his first trip to Japan -- for JGP Karuizawa in 2010.
Max also represented the U.S., and he appears quite a few times in the second half of Jason's video. The first time I spy Max is at approx. 0:53 on the left side of the still shot of the street scene.

I hope Max had as good a time in Karuizawa as Jason did :dance2:.

Jason did a great job of storytelling. (And those cabins are so cute :agree:.)

Wish Max a good and injury-free season. :)

Good luck to him at Cup of China this weekend! :cheer: My husband and me are sending our :clapper::party::hap10: in front of TV.
