The costume! Makes him look very royal-ly(not a word I know). Shoma has got two winning programs this year, can't wait for the season go on!

By the way, I was lurking in the Lombardia forum, and I must say that MaiKatze is my hero, for unabashedly and unapologetically supporting and cheering for ShoSho! Love it!

you know what, i caught some of that too somewhere
thank you maikatze, our fighter! (now rest tonight!)

Thank you! That's so sweet of you. Honestly, it is exhausting, but I pity those who can't see the beauty in Shoma's skating. Their loss. Some people are only happy when they can put others down. I'm happy when Shoma wins. I'm also happy if Shoma skates his best and doesn't win. There is a lot of heartbreak in the making for those who'd rather bite their tongue off before complimenting him. Lombardia was only the beginning!

YAASSS!

JB: This is my funeral garb, but even a funeral never stopped ME from SMILING!!!!!
SU: Where's my Snorlax Plushie?
BK: I come from a land down under....♩ ♪ ♫ ♬

I dare you to find better captions! (You will, I'm sure!)

jb: (nudge) camera's over there
su: na it's over here
bk: na it's right here

"I can jump for some reason..." LOL! It IS pretty amazing to think that this time 2 years ago, he could only jump the 4T (and not consistently, according to him), now he's done 4 types of quads in competition! Plus apparently landed all 5 in practice! The growth!

News clips. The Japanese media should train all cameramen everywhere before ice competitions, I think.

Cute moment in the first link at 7:36, with Jason giving Shoma low fives as Shoma's going off ice and Jason on ice.

I was looking for that split second low five moment in the official coverage. But I realized they didn't catch it, because that's when the director decided to abruptly focus on the as-yet-empty Kiss and Cry! LOL.

Medal Ceremony. I forgot about the Component Award, they present that first to Shoma.
I believe that Jason won the award last year.

^^^I wondered what that was! Thx for clarifying that. I wasn't sure why he was hiding behind the plants! And he looks a little bewildered. He probably wonders what it is. But I love that he follows his "When in doubt, bow!!!" technique.

I have to say he looks more "princely" the more I see him in that costume. Wow!

^Yup Arriba as my niece would say that costume is "da bomb"! It is beautifully made, fits him perfectly and the colors go so well together as someone else said
it looks Royal it is just perfect for Shomajesty!.

If Uno does not deserve a 9.25 for interpretation, then who does? He is on equal footing, interpretively, with Patrick and Yuzuru, probably a bit better. As a professional violinist who has performed the Four Seasons more times than I can count, I think Shoma's interpretation of Winter is better than any skater I've ever seen.

you know, i posted congratulations to shoma last night as well as about your lovely quote of the musician. it was deleted due to the fact it was thought I insulted a poster (not from here) whose avatar I laughed at. it was of yuzu that was like a replica of "the grudge" beast which i felt described herself. you know, i'd say she got it removed! whatever. but it would show that she reads Sho's fanfest. mr yuzuru himself must have derision and negative feelings for that avatar. I got 2 (forgot terminology) baddies for it?? and will be banned with 2 more. (typical of the avatar owner's tactics come to think of it...) but being banned is not a biggy if you look at how often i post, i have to say, yesterday was not the day to explore GS, as i was also checking up on another skater. my time management becomes unmanageable (very time-consuming this!) and I had a lot of schedules changed yesterday. tired.

The post FS interview: What could possible be the reason he can jump so well? :scratch2: The hard work he has done all summer (and before that!) probably doesn't have anything to do with it... But please Shoma, don't start to worry. That's why he has us ;)

Sleeping Shoma (still with a phone?). :bed:

Shoma's trainer was with him in Italy. Or at least I think he is Shoma's trainer. Correct me if I'm wrong. Nice picture .

Is that Redbull? Ew....Shoma....well, his 'diet' seems to be working so who am I to judge?

@OnlyUno
The FanFest can be read by everyone in this forum, also people who are as far from a fan as they can be. That's one of the reasons we don't discuss certain topics. It's not the place to be completely open with your opinion, no matter how tempting it might be.

Anyway, will Shoma have a new exhibition this season? Or use his old ones? He has so many. ;)

I hope he still performs This Town sometimes. I absolutely love that program  Does Japan Open have an exhibition gala? Or do we have to wait until Skate Canada?

The mods do keep an eye on "hot topic" threads and will remove a post that is offensive according to the board's guidelines. For me it is easier not to read and participate in the "hot topic" threads other than to congratulate and like certain posts. The ignore feature is my friend.

Carnival on Ice is the show that follows the Japan Open not only will the skaters of Japan Open be performing
but guest skaters also. The fabulous Dai-chan will be performing! Maybe we will see a collaboration between
Uncle Dai and Shoma.

my comments on Shoma's programs.

I am thrilled with how ready he is early in the season already. He is definitely, for me, the top contender for olympics.

I liked the SP better than the LP. I thought he made the SP his own already. I liked the step sequence that is not as typical as what we see in 4 seasons programs.. .maybe that's why the musician liked his performance better. I am a musician too... i like Shoma's passion. I am not quite ready to say he is the best in interpretation ever though. He is young, and I hope to see him grow and grow and grow, like last year : I had many reservations about Loco in September, which were pretty much all gone by the time Shoma skated at worlds. It's normal. THe programs need time. Shoma is still learning. So, with all my love and admiration, I am not ready to say he is in a league of his own, yet... i reserve this in a few years from now, when he reaches new levels in creativity and expression. This being said, I wouldn't be posting here, if I didn't already admire him and loved his skating ;)

I have more issues with the LP : here is why.... when Shoma worked on this LP, he was just out of juniors....the LP was made for a young promising skater with only quad toe.... two issues we can see with the LP now... Shoma has to make room for more quads... he does need time to set up. So, I feel the program needs to be revamped even more so it doesn't look like Shoma is interrupting it, when he sets up for a jump. It's like the music continues, but Shoma has to pause to set up... then jumps... I think that some of these moments will be tweaked as we go further in the season... Also, and that's more of a concern for me, I feel that Shoma is already such a better skater than two years ago... that this program doesn't show his talent as much as the newly conceived SP. Again, as we saw last year with Loco, I am sure things will evolve all year and his team who is excellent and caring, will be helping him to reach new heights and better artistry. This being said, please do not see it as a criticism. In the end, Shoma is still an amazing skater and will score very high with both of these programs... almost 320 in september WOW!!! I just think there is a lost opportunity in showing more of Shoma's amazing skills and interpretation, by reusing a program that was conceived a few years ago, for a much younger skater and less developed athlete and performer. I hope they bring some more flair into it. And, well, that's probably the goal... perhaps they wanted to use the old program so they could lay down the jumps early on, and then, deal with the rest. In any case, I am very excited to see how things will evolve this season for Shoma. and of course, let's ruin my credibility here by adding some major swooning ... how can he be so damn cute? heheheheheehe
