I dunno if you guys knew this but i'll share it anyway. Shoma's free skate "Nessun Dorma" was sung by Prince Calaf. This prince is deeply inlove with Princess Turandot and wanted to marry her so he took her challenge by answering her 3 riddles correctly (if not answered correctly then he'll be executed). But Turandot doesn't want to marry him (what the heck) so he gave her a challenge, she must guess his name until dawn and if she succeeds then he'll take his own life. While Turandot gave orders to her people, Prince Calaf who was in a garden (i think) sang Nessun Droma which translated to "none shall sleep" and the song expresses his triumphant. he knows he's gonna win.
It's so fitting to Shoma especially him wearing his prince/royalty costume. It's like he is Prince Calaf on ice

Thx for explaining the story, Little Lady. The Turandot words I have with my avatar "Ma il mio mistero", etc. ("but my mystery is locked/closed inside of me") refer to the secret of Calaf's name, But I think these words are fitting for Prince Shoma too! And that costume definitely is one fit for a prince.
Welcome andromache! I have always appreciated your thoughtful, positive posts in many different threads. I think you'll find we're pretty friendly, civil, and sane here -- except maybe when we are discussing Sho's velvet pants! :scard8:
I want to share one of my favorite clips of Stephane when someone asks him what it's like to work with Shoma on choreography. You have probably all seen this before, but it bears repeating that Shoma is not someone to whom you can say "here, do this, do this". I think the word Stephane is searching for and just can't come up with in English is "intuitive". He has to feel the music which means that his programs really need to "cook" for awhile.

And to those who would say Shoma's programs are all the same, please think of the 3 L's -- Legends, Loco, Lavender. These 3 programs are all the same? the same style? Legends quirky and modern, Loco totally different from anything he has ever skated to (complete with screaming woman) , Lavender similar to some of his other programs. And for Legends and Loco, he had to learn to skate in ways that he had never skated before. Can't even imagine the time it took to perfect those styles.
Sorry, just getting wordy here after being quiet (for me!) for 2 days...The hair? I vote reddish tint and curly all the way. Don't care for the straight/even every-hair-in-place look. But wait, are those cheek bones I see?! The old face didn't have cheek bones. I think he gets more handsome each time I see him! And old or new face, it is always hard to not pinch his cheeks (or pat him on the head)! :luv17:

Consistency is so important. I'm glad Shoma isn't psyching himself out too much about the Olympics, or any competition, really. I think his mental strength is really one of his big advantages.
Can I petition for a Turandot collaboration between Shoma and Marin, since they're both doing the same song anyway? Maybe in one of the galas or ice shows!

a bit late to say, great opportunity of reading all comments about Lombardia! how fast, can't believe he was there last week.
Yesterday as you saw some video, there was his univ had a ceremony to cheer sport students up, Shoma and other two. Also there's FOI full ver. came up only in CS, it'd be difficult to upload it fully as CS channel's like Wowow, only CS customers can see it.

Thanks for the link, Xeyra! :luv17: Now, because of this interview, we have Shoma-Nathan shippers! I guess it was inevitable.
I love the yakiniku story, which is decidedly evidence against his being a hikikomori/recluse. Funny that he was impressed that Nathan studies hard, but it's also impressive that he was curious enough about Nathan to ask what he does in his free time. (Probably Shoma wants to find a fellow gamer?
) I love the whole "we get inspired by each other " situation. They love the challenge and acknowledge each other's roles in pushing them to try more difficult things. Such good models.Sometimes I wonder what got lost in translation, especially for Nathan who originally did the interview in English, got translated into Japanese, and now was translated back into English. Makes me wonder what he said exactly in the original interview. Shoma should do more joint interviews. :thumbsup:
