Also, Rodnina is quite true - i recall Yulia herself mentioned in some interview she was not very fond of FS during the Olympic year.

Well, tbh, there are many rough comparisons to be made. Such as when Lipnitskaya skipped the medal ceremony because omg she was just second, or when she was rude to a flower girl and blabla. You dont see other skaters doing such stuff often ;)

She looked slow during the step sequence, but overall very nice skate from her. I'm glad she landed that 3-3 combo. And congratulations with a new PB in the short program. :clap:

I've only utmost respect and good wishes for her, still the height of her jumps doesn't bode well for the future. Anyway, I hope she gets into GPF and take some revenge in Japan, year after she got dinged by judges there. :thumbsup:
 
I saw Alena's SP, and every time I fall in love with her. She has a lot of musicality and elegance. Trusova is still my favorite for the Final. All these little Russian girls are so talented, it's cruel that they have to face each other, but at the same time it's exciting. Japanese girls are making good competition too, I can't wait for the Final !.

so... she said she has 25 skaters now, about 1/3 of them are boys
other interesting moments:
1) The youngest girl jumping 3-3 in her group is 9 years old, the youngest boy working on triples - 7 years old
2) She predicts that in 3 years quads will be common in ladies :biggrin:
3) She mentioned Adian as "incredibly gifted" and one of her favorite skaters, but also that it was really hard to work with him and motivate him to work
4) She thinks that the main reason why we don't have strong male skaters is not enough competition(rivalry) betweem them. Translation:

If we take our Russian figure skating, then boys do not come to us in big amounts, because there are other sports - football, hockey, which bring money. Figure skating in this sense inferior to that sports, and parents believe figure skating is not very masculine. And, starting from the age of 4, boys-figure skaters are licked, pityed, cherished, idolized, because they are few. For every 30 girls sports school takes in, there are only 2-3 boys. And no matter how these boys would skate, how would they behave, they would still be appreciated and transferred to the next group. Regarding girls - there are many of them. Out of 30 only 15 remain, out of 15 - five. And from the first day they understand that if they do not match, they will be expelled. Take any Russian figure skating competition as an example. Of the 54 started after the short program remains 24. Thirty is eliminated. I somehow for the sake of interest looked at the protocols: the figure skater, who took 35th place, did the same set of elements as the 23rd. To be selected, the girls need to be two heads above competitors. And the girls know that in the off-season they can not relax, because that in early September there will be a selection of Moscow, and if they do not pass, they will not receive a distribution for the stages of the Russian Cup, and that means they failed the season. And the boys: out of the 16 starters, all will be distributed according to the stages. There is no competition. Greenhouse conditions. I think this is the main reason.

"Cruel"? Presumably they are engaged in a competitive sport so they can compete against other strong athletes and challenge themselves, no? Why bother otherwise?

Hoping that Fedichkina can return to form, I adore her! I think it’s great that she’s competing senior. A trip to jr worlds is probably out of the question but I hope she can make top 10 or top 8 at nationals. Maybe?
 
For the first time in the history of all 7 stages of junior Grand-Prix in junior ladies one country has won.
