Indeed, it hurts to see it again. A dress as unique as its wearer, but prevented by higher powers from fully serving its purpose. So sad!

liza tuktamysheva was asked about yulia in her latest interview. she said that she was surprised by yulia's retirement and illness. she also said that yulia didnt not try to be like everyone else, she was her own person :sad4:

Of course it's the transition out of the Needle Spin. Can anyone else hear the music swells which were timed up to match it?
This is what I'll miss the most and I mean no disrespect to today's skaters but she was able to capture a moment and define it with an elegance of imagery that I just don't see others able to replicate with such uniqueness.

i absolutely love her needle spin. personally i think it should be named as lipnitskaya spin since her variation is the most known; i've heard that russian juniors call that spin after her :luv17:
personally, my favourite spin of hers is her broken leg spin. i love the depth she gets with it and how perfectly timed it was to the end of her you don't give up on love program.

I remember being constantly scolded by "experts" in 2014-2015 how Yulia's skating is not up to Yuna's, Mao's, Caro's, lacking artistry, musicality and all. I wonder what do they think about Julia now, when the next wave of Russian technicians dominated the field and even messier one is coming (speaking in general).

I have yet to see a I-spin like hers. Even when the skaters are flexible, they throw their heads back which just... spoils it.
I would like to see her skating in shows one day, should her health allow it. As someone her age who suffers from generalised anxiety and reccuring depression, I know first hand how much it takes to step back and take care of oneself while the world keeps moving.
