Yulia Lipnitskaya

Start learning Russian, guys. You are missing a Universe. And I won't always be there to provide transcripts! :D ;)

I actually started learning a bit. Can read the writing now and know some words, but not nearly enough to understand people speaking:)

I haven't seen her commentary myself yet, but FSO users are praising her commentary. She's actually a great commentator, apparently.

i've been keeping up with some parts of her commentary through a few translations here. i think my favourite one is when yulia says that rachmaninov reminds her of mao asada. :luv17:

I'm glad she seems to be fairly well received but aren't we all a little concerned her honesty will get her in to trouble some day

I'm so biased but even though I don't understand Russian her voice sounds really natural and fitting. :yes2:

She's honest, but she's always demonstrated a real ability to be diplomatic - she has never responded to the things that Eteri or Averbukh have said about her in the press for example. She has never been catty either. Can't wait for some translations of her commentary.

I was totally mad of this unaware unprofessional talking head next to her. Absolutely. And turn back to TAT and Co.

Reporter: "Yulia, what were the most stupid questions you have been asked by a reporter?"

Yulia: "All of them."

Yes, once her education is complete she will have a great career in the Russian diplomatic service.

Yeah, she's been blunt with and about reporters. But she has never said anything controversial about other skaters, her coaches, people she's worked with. Which is a lot of professionalism to show, given how young she is and the level of fame she reached. That's what I meant by diplomatic.

This is Denis, a football commentator. A rather pleasant young man. This was his first time commenting figure skating. Yulia even made fun of him by saying "someone was reading Wikipedia all night" :)
