Evgenia Medvedeva

"Basically, I almost finished my program smoothly, but... well. :)"
"What's happened? What went wrong?"
"I shouldn't have turned off my brain. It is most disappointing - after a clean performance, to have such a fall or something, this is the most... [gives an expressive look]. Every event is important form me. It's very important to show the results of our everyday work, but it can only be shown in a whole program. I was absolutely prepared to show my maximum today, but something went wrong."

TAT's monologue after Evgenia's FS. I hope you'd understand why we Russians don't mind much her chatting during programs. :)

"This [fall] doesn't go well with her at all. But within the meaning [of Anna Karenina] she could have fallen and stayed down there. I still cannot understand where this little thin young lady gets such energy which she multiplies all the way until the end. Each performed element makes her stronger, and stronger, and stronger, she doesn't spend her power, but gains it. How does this baby manage to do it? It can only be done with an inhumanely hard work and a very deep understanding of self. She passes from an element to an element - rejoicing, apparently - but overcoming herself, she does it in a unique manner. In my whole long life on ice I haven't seen such athletes, I've never seen her tired - she never gets tired, because she charges from the performed elements; she charges with some inner energy which she instantly shares with us."

Really appreciate the translations, thx dante

I’m so glad I’ll get to see her Anna Karenina program live at the Olympics. It’s going to be amazing.

I’ve become such a fan of Evgenia this season. I’ve always been incredibly impressed with her skill and athleticism but this is first time I’ve fallen in love with her programs and performance too! She’s really moved me with her skating this season. Love AK for her, it’s the perfect free skate for an Olympic year. And she is just adorable. I gasped when she went down on the double axel and then when I saw she was laughing I started laughing too! Her smile is infectious  Congratulations on the win Zhenya!

Finally she has Rostelecom gold! 👏
Now she needs NHK gold and COC gold for her collection )))

yes. you're right. She usually does it with a flip. so I didn't even look at the first jump
lol
Maybe she's actually been working on her lutz. That doesn't look that horrible(from this far), and in the competition it was just barely a !. That's pretty much in line with how several other ladies do it, changing to flat edge right at the very last second which sometimes isn't called.

Of course, she used to have it not getting called despite being obviously e so it shouldn't really affect her scores but it will help with her credibility if she can get it to a pretty good shape.

She really should... think about her axel, though. The technique's poor and the speed's slow. It'd be a shame to ruin a victory due to unnecessarily falling on it in the future.

I have to say her Anna Karenina is getting better. I was one of the people who thought she made s big mistake for changing her FD. Ofcourse the Russian audience is going to love it so her next event is going to be a test. Her black test looks really good.

I don't agree with you.
Watch her practice video. Her 2a is way much better now. It's pretty smooth and speedy. Her first 2a in FS was good too.
She really improved her 2a technique from the 15/16 season.
