Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Somehow you don't see it with his mentality?
2013-14 - logical argument: just scratch the 4S, do 2x 4T; Yuzu: no
2015-16 - logical argument: you don't need 3 quads, 2 are enough; Yuzu: no
2016-17 - logical argument: you don't need the 4Lo, new element is risky and GPF 2015 score is unbeaten; Yuzu: IDGAF, I want 4Lo
2017-18 - logical argument: you don't need 4Lz, GPF 2015 score is unbeaten, LP with 4 quads is WR; Yuzu: lol still IDGAF
Now 4Lo is being moody, logical argument? Go back to 4S. See where I'm going...?

And well, I do think they're trying their hardest! But subtlety, you know, not everyone's thing...
Haha! I literally LOL'd :-D

I think Yuzu's decisions actually are logical though, from his point of view... and from everybody else's too, when we have the benefit of hindsight.

I mean, if he'd taken the safe and low-risk route the last few years (ie. followed the "logical argument")... I think he'd be in big trouble right now, he'd be playing "catch-up" in the quad race....

I'm late for this, but wouldn't it be very Zu to switch to the 4Lz in the SP and then get it clean (or very close to it) on first try? Now that I'm not the only one ranting about the possibility of that SP 4Lz (since his CoR SP), but Max Ambesi said the same, I'm actually getting excited about the idea. Maybe I should not but, look at that 4Lo pop in Gabbys video... :drama:

PS: if you read "Hanyu's knee touched the ice on his 4S in his CoR LP" somehwere - no, it's coming from Yukari Nakano, and it's nonsense.

Where did she say that? What's wrong with her eyes ? She published her 2nd book (I believe) and she said a lot of nice things about Yuzuru in her latest interview...

Of course you're right, Yuzuru's decisions are very reasonable from his point of view :) I just called it the logical arguments because that is pretty much what the majority of people were saying at these specific time points (and because it sounds funnier). It just goes to show what a smart young man he is, and how good his understanding of his surroundings, competition trends and so on is. And how ambitious his own ideal of skating is and how determined he to stick to it. All reasons as to why he is as amazing a skater as he is!

And those aren't actually pics from the exhibit, it's just the ads. But so many, so good

 Actually before Fantasy on Ice where he re-debuted Chopin I 100% believed his new SP layout was going to include the 4Lz. In fact, I thought it might have included a 4Lz and 4Lo3T. Now I think the 4T might be here to stay in the SP, but I think there may be training benefits in including both the lutz and the loop in both the short and the free. I think if he were to do this though he may need to shift the two quads back into the first half to allow it to mimic the layout and timing in the free.

I think, Yuzuru's always two or three steps ahead of everyone else and sees the bigger picture. When deciding about 4Lo or 4Lz, he also has in his mind: which one fits my little 4A best...? :laugh2:

He will do this:

And Orser will let him get away with what he wants. Lol

Maybe history repeats enough that Orser already prepare himself to go with the Yuzu’s way, rather than tell him “no”, but how to server his purpose better.

I think it would have been more balanced if they had white or other colored parts, they are just too...red lol! (like Lotte)

I hope the official suit are nice, I liked the gray suit in Sochi :luv17:

It's suuuuper red. :palmf: What if they are too matching with team China?

My reaction in smileys:

It's too much red. But the worse is that it's too much of that eyesore of a shade of red. Sochi gear was so much better and it had just the right amount of red.
