There is nothing to worry about. Yuzuru's fighting the long battle this season, and he's very much aware of it.

I guess his pressure come from himself, he mentioned that people expected him to peak at NHK and excel again at GPF, and he probably expect himself to do that as well.

Somehow I expected a withdrawal from Patrick, but it still feels a bit... strange. So sad for a skater of his format... I wasn't a huge Pat-chan fan, but I wish him all the best for a last fightback until Olympics. Wouldn't be the same without him.

To Yuzuru: You're probably right that he has his own big battle to fight against himself - independent from other competitors. At NHK everyone is expecting him to devastate the rest of the field by a victory margin of +50 points.
I don't think, it's clever to peak at NHK or GPF and run out of steam at Olympics. The best thing Yuzu could do - in my opinion: continuous improvement in little steps until February.
I'm quite relaxed about the short programme tbh. He has done a clean version with 4Lo at FaoI already and remember: he had less space to land his jumps. I'm sure we'll see it clean once or twice in the next couple of months ;)
 
If Patrick indeed WD from NHK then Yuzu will against the 2015 NHK of himself
106+ in the SP, 216+ for LP and 322+ combined total. Out score it if you can Zuzu🌋🌋

Hmm, Jack Gallagher's earlier tweet this morning said that he confirmed Brian was planning to be at NHK Trophy. The way he worded it made it sound as if he confirmed it from a direct source, seems he tweeted around 6:30 AM in the morning Sunday so Brian was likely out of surgery hours before. Maybe the decision changed or they asked Brian to be more cautious and check to see how he feels before traveling, but I'm sure we will know soon.

I'm late for this, but wouldn't it be very Zu to switch to the 4Lz in the SP and then get it clean (or very close to it) on first try? :laugh: Now that I'm not the only one ranting about the possibility of that SP 4Lz (since his CoR SP), but Max Ambesi said the same, I'm actually getting excited about the idea. Maybe I should not but, look at that 4Lo pop in Gabbys video... :drama:


PS: if you read "Hanyu's knee touched the ice on his 4S in his CoR LP" somehwere - no, it's coming from Yukari Nakano, and it's nonsense.

I think the 4Lo is not playing well with the 4Lz, so at this point I would not be surprised at all. I mean technically he could go up or down, to the 4S, but someone I don't see him doing that, not with his mentality. So yes, if I were a betting person, I'd be eyeing that SP with the 4Lz pretty strongly right now. Maybe not at NHK but if NHK again doesn't work out for him then I think he's going to drop it and go up to the 4Lz. Which would give me major, major giggles. But then as you know, I've been weirdly confident about that jump.


And of course it is, of course. I am so surprised only not really. Why are they so obvious about it, is what truly bugs me. Where is the finesse, the subtlety! Come on, try harder!

2013-14 - logical argument: just scratch the 4S, do 2x 4T; Yuzu: no
2015-16 - logical argument: you don't need 3 quads, 2 are enough; Yuzu: no
2016-17 - logical argument: you don't need the 4Lo, new element is risky and GPF 2015 score is unbeaten; Yuzu: I don't care, I want 4Lo
2017-18 - logical argument: you don't need 4Lz, GPF 2015 score is unbeaten, LP with 4 quads is WR; Yuzu: lol still don't care
Now 4Lo is being moody, logical argument? Go back to 4S. See where I'm going...? :biggrin:


And well, I do think they're trying their hardest! But subtlety, you know, not everyone's thing...

You never know, Brian may have finally have talked him into being more careful .... or more likely, told Tracy, I'm sick, you deal with the wild child :laugh2:

And true. But, you'd think that those who want to make dents, and are in that business, would know that the biggest dent often isn't achieved by a hammer but by a well placed feather. Dent people ... failing at their jobs.

I think it's more Brian who gave up. "Yay, 4Lz this season, yep yep!" - smart man, save at least your sanity Brian! Probably the only way anyone, Brian or Tracy, could deal with that is the good old tie down and sit on him way. But then who could, look at how adorable his face can be if he wants it to! :biggrin:


Dent people haven't gotten that though at all. Remember all the "best rating during X's interview!" - everyone who has a brain: "Nope, during Yuzus" - dent people: "oops". Or all the amazingly faked pics. We could probably make a top 10 most ridiculous fails by now.
