Yes! Russian fans were pleasantly surprised that Julia coped well with the comments. She is accurate in words and knowledgeable, friendly to all athletes and light humor. We were worried how it would turn out, but the debut was very successful! :agree:
 
Loved it. This was a first but once she becomes more used to it and therefore more confident she will rock it.
One of the things I enjoyed about her mostly were her interviews or the Q&A with fans. She doesn't mince her words and she's a very intelligent young woman. I can't wait to see more of her in this new role and all the best wishes to her. :love:
 
Just a detail I've already posted on FSO, but I'll do it here also. After Caro's skate debrief, Denis has said to Julia something like "You will not be able to nitpick [about this jump], don't even try", to which she replied "I'm not going to try! I don't like nitpicking. I try to see good even in bad things. Although, there was nothing bad about it [the jump]."

After reading some of the translations online it seems Yulia and her co-commentator Denis (despite lacking obvious FS knowledge) seem to get along well. They jest a lot, with Yulia shutting him down when necessary. During the gala didn't he ask for Mariah Bell's number? :rofl2: or was it Xsenia's? Sending Yulia into a mini laughing fit.

Dammit, now I need to learn Russian!

No, Denis said his own number :laugh: I remember he began in a dramatic whisper "Mariah, if you hear me - " and then said his telephone number (no idea if it was real or not) :rofl2:
 
I was confused. First I watched videos with ladies SP commented by Yulia, but then when I tried to find the same videos again on Youtube, it was Tarasova. Actually all videos on мой канал are commented by Tarasova.
 
Hi all, I have on my YouTube channel (link) selected videos of some of Yulia's commentary, some with English CC subtitles for Cup of Russia and Skate Canada, but I was wondering... should I continue to translate her commentary for the future Grand Prix? Is it still interesting?

Cup of China has already begun and I have set up a survey (link) where you can vote who I should prioritize to do subtitles for.

Thank you so much for all the videos and for all the translations Katia! :thank: I real appreciate the little tibits that Yulia throws into her commentary for all the skaters.

Yuliaisms: Things we learned from ROSTELECOM CUP:
Yuzuru is a skating god.
Carol is a skating queen.
Nathen sent messages of support to Yulia (via instagram) when she was injured.
Zhenya's new LP is far superior to her old one. #deeperthoughts
Goddess Ksenia brings the DRAMA, and is a fashion icon as per usual.
Tarasova/Morozov should perhaps consult with Ksenia's dressmaker/tailor (regarding their FS costume).
Deniss Vasiļjevs is amazing at cooking and drawing, know multiple languages and is one of the most intelligent people Yulia knows, speaks like a Nobel Prize Winner and is very talkative: you ask him a question, he responds for an hour.
Denis outs Yulia for dancing to Maé-Bérénice Méité's Beyonce SP off-air. *Yulia tells him to shoosh*
Lenka/Lenochika Radionova loves her exhibitions and is enthusiastic/creative about ideas for them, so much so that other skaters have on occasions taken/used her ideas for their EX.
Denis has a crush on Mariah Bell and wants to give her his number. Yulia laughs him off.

Yuliaisms: Things we learned from SKATE CANADA:
Patrick is a skating legend, and can watch him forvever.
Katya Ozmanova's Edith Piaf SP is gorgeous and is Yulia's fav Kaetlyn program, and her lutz deserves like a +5.
Shoma shall hence forth be known as Shomochka Uno. Yulia adores him, but mistook him for a girl (Satoko's coach's daughter) the first time she competed on the Junior GP circuit.
Yulia was extremely nervous/worried for Anna, and notes that Anka missed a lot of training time due to treatment for her back injury, which she is still recovering from (she was wearing a back corset/brace during training).
Yulia revealed that she use to watch Rika's Riverdance program run-through during their practice.
Denis has moved on from Mariah Bell and now want's Ashley Wagner's number.
During the stream Denis desperately wanted to sleep, but Yulia would not let him...thus pulling 2 all-nighters.
 
I see she posted a quick story on Instagram. It’s the first I’ve ever noticed her doing that. Has anyone else ever seen her sharing a story?

Thank you so much everyone for your support!! :love: I have already subtitled the commentary for Zagitova, Kolyada, and Fernandez short programs based on the survey results. Look for more throughout the week!
