Medvedeva WDs from GPF

If I remember right Yuna Kim had a fracture of the 5th metatarsal in her foot before Sochi which is why she didn't participate in the Grand Prix. Like Yuna, Medvedeva has nothing to prove. If she is still injured it is better to rest and recover. While missing the GPF would be disappointing, the Olympics are the most important thing. I hope she gets well soon.

What is it with all these injuries to top athletes before the Olympics? This year seems cursed.

And in many things beside figure skating...
:(:(

Wait she is in a cast and noticeably limping right now?! Ok, the adults in her life need to step up asap. Letting her compete in two weeks on a foot that was hurt enough to be in a cast is reckless and could very likely bring disaster. I'm not gonna blame a extremely ambitious 17 year old for not knowing her limits but her coach and the other adults absolutely do. Skipping the final will not bring down her ott scores in any way, and she already has two gpf golds. The olympics is once every four years! Time for the coach to do her job and make the right choice for her student

If you click on the the link that I posted above and scroll down past the photo there are a few sentences and then keep scrolling down
and that is where it says that she intends to compete. I don't speak Russian. I googled translated.

I speak it - and no it does not necessarily mean she will compete, IMHO. It says "earlier it was reported that she intended to compete in the GPF despite the injury". So I think it still can go either way.

Thank you! Google can get things wrong.

Oh no. This is horrible. I really hope the girl just skips GPF and Nats and heals. Surely Russia could put her as the second or third lady for Oly's and Euros? this would give her like two months to heal.

I think they push themselves extra hard in such season.

We already suspected that she was injured. Even if she tried to minimize her injury, maybe to show no weakness or not being speculated, it was too obvious in the NHK that she was not well, she limped, and in the EX she looked totally tired and weak. I just hope her team makes the wise decision. She must be totally cured, the most important thing is to reach the Olympians, Europeans and the world. She can skip the Final and even nationals. A bone injury is very complicated, even if it's small, if it doesn't heal completely any future blow can revive the injury and make it more dangerous.

She even responds so politely to those questions that are out of place. The press doesn't let her rest. Imagine if her team had made this public before or a week before the Final, they would probably criticize in the same way. This was the right moment, when the diagnosis is clear and there is still time. She is such a smart and strong girl. I can not even imagine the pain and over exertion she made to skate Anna Karenina in the NHK. My admiration for this little girl so strong and determined.

Please, Zhenya, take care of your health !!

Goodbye Mevdedeva. Nice knowing ya. I hope the haters are happy now and this will be the end of endless backloading, balancing, and tano threads.

Get ready Zagitova, your turn now.

I hope now that Zagitova's fans appreciate the concern that Osmond's fans had for her. Just imagine breaking your foot, out for a year, thinking that you'll never skate again and losing all hope. Then having to learn to skate and do jumps all over again. Look at her now. If someone is determined, they can Do almost anything...oops, I meant Mevdedeva's injury...

That's... a bit callous, not to mention jumping to conclusions. So what if she doesn't compete in the GPF? She's not out of it by a long stretch; same goes with the several other skaters who have dealt with injury this year.

actually Zagitova also had her leg(and hand) broken and almost gave up on her skating career... so no need to imagine

What is that even supposed to mean? The injuries between Evgenia and Katelyn are quite different, and those two are far from the only two skaters that were ever injured too. I'd think most fans here know what it is like to not know if a favorite skater can ever skate again or not.
And what does Alina have to do with it?

Honestly, over dramatizing this makes no sense either. If they take good care of this, she'll likely be fine by the Olympics, which is what counts. And even if not, it would be horrible timing, but it won't end her career.

I think it was sarcasm not serious post

Idk why Alina is in convo yep she had a serious injury too

As for Osmond I bet even her anti fans were sympathetic & really acknoledge what she went through

I just realized Wakaba Higuchi most likely needs Medvedeva to withdraw in order to make the GPF, something she should already be locked in for anyway.

Yeah...enjoy a nice rest Medvedeva.
