Again, it will depend who finishes third. They won't boot Jason or Vincent for Adam, but they absolutely would boot Max.
Was that the one that everyone said was clean but slowed down showed it <?

No idea. It was a long time ago and I'm not going through the hassle of finding it again.
(In general, if someone says they're doing a thing in practice, like landing a jump cleanly, I'm not going to assume they are a liar - but I also won't necessarily expect to see that thing done in competition.)

I hope they don't boot Max. He's a big jumper and we've seen from Javi's season that you need quads to be successful. I know that Nathan is a lock and he's probably the only Man the US would hold up if he were to bomb at Nationals. Now that Max has beaten Vincent in competition, if Max skates well, he's the Man to send to the games. Nathan, Max and Adam are the Men I would send if it were up me but, I know how much the Judges love Jason Brown. If he brings it at Nationals, he's going to Korea even if he doesn't land a quad. Hopefully, Max will skate well and there won't be a need for a committee to be involved.
My preferences for the Oly team also but who knows what's on or will be on the judges minds at Nats.

Honestly, the USFSA should announce Nathan to the team before Nationals to avoid a situation like 2014 with the women. However, it's hard to see Nathan coming in 4th or lower in the US men's field, so it probably doesn't matter.

I hope Nathan bounces back from that sub-par performance at Skate America and wins the GPF. If so, he would be a lock for the Olympics.
The other US men are about equal and should be chosen based on placement at nationals.

If he pops every jump and skates in circles around the rink at GPF, Nathan is still a lock for the US Olympics team
We really are only talking about two spots here. I am not saying that’s right, but I am saying that is what it is.

I think Nathan is a lock because his season has been the best of our Men. Even with his subpar free program at Skate America, he was still able to win the gold. There were some big skaters at that event and he did well under the pressure. Adam Rippon was the bright light in a less than stellar final flight of Men. I don't usually blame the ice but something was up during that free skate.

It's hard for me to imagine that Nathan's year is summed up in his performance at SA causing people to worry about future performances. It was one program. It happens. His SP was masterful but he just didn't have it for the LP. I'm not the least bit worried about him. If I'm worried about anything it's that Adam will revert back to his old ways, skate sloppy and mess up his jumps. Unfortunately that's the Adam we're really familiar with over the past couple of years. He seemed to turn the corner at Nationals and I sincerely hope he's going to continue with the exciting, mostly clean programs from here on out.

Both are looking really good. Alex is going to golden spin of zagreb, he just won MidWestern Sectionals with a 229.94.

Thanks Ic3Rabbit.........I have always liked Alex and though I think it will be tough for him to make the podium, I sure hope he has the skate of his life at Nationals.....

Other than Adam I have a soft spot for both Alex and Tim so I hope to see them do really well. I don't really have to worry about Nathan because he pretty much has it "in the bag" so to speak.

I have been cheering on the US junior men, and I have been remiss about mentioning one who is possibly another longest of long shots at Nats, Tomoki Hiwatashi. Tomoki came in second at Midwestern Sectionals behind Alex Johnson and in fact won the FS.
What I love about Tomoki this year is that he skates "full-on" Rohene programs, and skates them beautifully. He grew visibly tired in this LP (he is capable of doing Toller/Jason quality Russian splits; the one here is, well, not on that level ) but where many junior men skate "less than" in their programs, he skates "more than".
