Would you really deprive 15yo hard-working phenomenal girl of her first chance in life to win European title for some third int'l spot sparring?
Yes, I would if I sent the phenomenal hard working girl to worlds instead. 4CC is usually too close to Olympics and therefore all the Canadians, Americans, Japanese and Chinese are usually sending their B team to 4CC in the Olympic year, so why it couldn’t be the same with Europeans? If you have 5 great ladies and only three spots at Euros, worlds and Olympics, I can’t see anything wrong with sending the weaker three toEuropeans, strongest 2 plus the strongest of the Europeans to worlds and Olympics. For world ranking one can’t get extra points for both europeans and worlds, one can get only points for one of those, so another skater may as well get the chance to pick up some points too.
I disagree. You cannot deprieve the ladies who actually got their spots over the others to go to Euros. It would be unfair. And a bad strategy from Russian Fed part. They should be interested in promoting and consolidating their main team, not to offer chances to other ladies in such an important competition and to risk to lose in front of Kostner for example. If they want to give the other ladies a chance, they can send them to other types of events and they already did that. Elena and Maria participated in Shanghai Trophy.
I'm totally convinced that even Evgenia who has 2 Euros titles, if healthy, would want to participate in the Euros, which are in Moscow, and a good preparation for the next competitions (Olympics if the Russian athletes are allowed to participate)
I mean the main objective for Russian Fed should be not to figure out who is the third lady in such a big competition,this is not of big interest, but to win medals. They can learn this from the national champs, or monitoring them all season
It would be different if the ladies who get the spots will choose on their own to not attend the Euros, but it's another story to oblige them not to go.
Considering Zagi is on her first senior season, I see how they would send her to Euros no matter what. Basically, she needs all reputation she can get.
Actually, I dont think even Medvedeva can skip Europeans if she is healthy, since she is skipping GPF due to injury and would probably be a good idea to show she is back on track before olympics.
Last but not least, giving Carolina an Euro Gold is not a good idea for russian ladies reputation wise.

While I understand where hanca is coming from, I agree with those who think it wouldn't be fair not to send Russia's three best to Euros. Although 4CC is gaining in prestige, it still lags behind Euros quite a bit. So I don't think you can really compare it to not necessarily sending your top skaters to 4CC (in general, though, I am hoping that 4CCs does become more of a priority for top skaters). Also with Euros being in Moscow, I think it would be even more meaningful for the Russian skaters to be there. To be able to compete at a huge competition like that in your home country is an honor. And with Zagitova in particular, she has mentioned being a bit nervous sometimes, so having one more big competition before the Olympics might be helpful.

It is in the federation’s interest to spread the wealth, because allowing others to collect points from championships is good for the team as a whole. It is not good to put all eggs in one basket. Imagine that in a year or two Zagitova starts struggling like Pogorilaya does now. They want to have 3-5 ladies at the top,not just one or two. Spreading the championships (different skaters for Europeans and worlds) makes sense.

What exactly is Shanghai Trophy? I just checked the result and it seems skaters only skated LP not SP. And most likely both Maria and Elena were sent there to be compared with each other in the same competition, but it is not fair for Maria: she had a later GRP assignment, and GPF is coming. She basically has one competition every other week. If Russian fed cares about her GP placement at all, she should be resting and preparing for GPF not in another competition

They need to first of all, give their top ladies best chances. I dont see why they would not send their best ladies to Euros, giving them the chance to get extra rep before the games. Speeding championship does not make sense, since the ladies lose the reputation, and let other gain this reputation.
For example, not sending zagi to Euros means that Caro will place one step up on the podium, not that whoever gets sent instead of Zagi wins a medal.
Not sending zagi means she will have one less *prestigious* medal in her pocket (and remember, its her first season senior, and it will probably make a difference).
Not supporting someone who actually has a chance to win Olympic gold or silver is bad strategy.
PS: If Zagitova starts struggling like Pogorilaya, Russia got a nice lineaup of juniors. Surely some of them will transition successfully into seniors.

I wish she would do a second 3-3. I know the 2A-3T earns more points, but the added difficulty would be rewarded by the judges.

I'd like to see her do 2A-2T-2Lo and 3F-3T. Not much layout changes, and BV stays the same.

The only difference is the 2A-3T makes her eligible for more GOE because the pass contains a triple. However, your suggested layout would be more impressive and have her doing 2 very difficult combinations.
