I just updated Shoma' s OP, so that it would be in good shape for the GPF. At least I hope it is in good shape. His format is very tricky, but I think I got it right. There are video links under the scores in the results table.

Thank you!!:thank:

He's smiling, that's a good sign, right?

Last year, he said there was too great an interval between Nationals in December 2015 and 4cc in Feb 2016, and between that and worlds in April, so he decided to attend more competitions between 4cc and worlds this past season (2017). I'm guessing he gets more motivated in competition, that's why he decided to attend more. However, 4cc is the end of January, while the Olympics is near the end of 1st~2nd-4th week of February. They might be too close apart, it's doubtful he'll go. Of course, with him you never know.

I wonder if Shoma stays in the official hotel for the competition or if he goes home. :scratch2:

Huh. I never really thought about that. I guess it depends on how far his house is from the competition rink? Otherwise, it's usually more comfortable sleeping at home. I'm wondering if he'll try to act as a tour guide for any of the visiting skaters... At least to the meat shops!

I just remembered Arriba mentioning a castle in Nagoya. It's funny because that's what they always show when showing the teaser videos for GPF. I hope he's at least been to that castle! Despite claiming to be a recluse, we know he's not really as much of a "social avoider" as he claims to be.

Thank you very much!!

By the way, did Hronop write this? It's about Shoma's short program. It's making the rounds of the non-Russian speaking fans. It seems Google translate does a pretty decent job translating Russian (it's terrible at my language and at Japanese). It's very well-thought out and profound. I have to admire the great attention to musical and choreographic detail! It had me paying greater attention to so many things in the program.

Thanks for sharing!. Shoma looks like his self again. Yay! GO Shoma!!!!! :cheer:

I am excited to see that non-Russian speaking fans are reading this (and kudos to Google translate for improving its service!). Yes, it's my recent blog post. Thanks for sharing it here! There are other Shomaposts in my blog, too (on spins, cantilever, jumps, and also my first-hand report on the Lombardia trophy 2017).
I can certainly write posts in English, but it was my original intention to open this blog on this particular Russian website, and I think I would stick to that original plan for a while, although, I have to say, fighting with Shoma haters (and there are lots of them in Russia) gets tiresome and frustrating occasionally.

Good luck to Shoma!!! :cheer: If he shines at the GPF and wins this event, non-Russian readers may certainly expect another Russian post.

Is there any way you can link this in English? I have no idea what I'm supposed to be clicking on when I look at the post in Russian. Knowing what I've read of your other stuff, I'm sure this is a really good one!

ETA -- I did manage to see it. Thank you! So interesting and so detail oriented. Now I'm even more anxious to see Winter again in the GPF! :thank:

This translation is not too bad, but OMG 'a cascade of sheepskin coats' instead of 'a toeloop jump combination' (4T-3T); and 'two ships' (and later 'the first boat' and 'the second boat') instead of 'spread eagles' are so funny! :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

I also love the way the Russian dative 'to Shoma' ('Шоме') was translated in a Frenchified manner as 'Chaumé'.

Actually this google translation is pretty good. At least this translation did not say that Shoma was a "criminal". Google is known for saying "criminal" instead of skater lol when it translates Japanese to English.

Thank you Hronop fascinating read!

^^^I gave up on the translations LONG ago. I think the last one I had was an instagram one that said "Uno polished player the then with." And I think the word "rental" was used for skater or jump. Accchhhh! No patience! But Chaume does have a nice ring to it!!!!

Take it as a compliment. Only the greatest skaters inspire such negativity. Some feel threatened and need to lash out. We can look forward to more of this in the coming months! But please, keep going and keep spread the Shoma love. Your article has also been linked at a german skating forum! Go Hronop! :cheer:And go Shoma!

Hello Hronop! I had thought it was you. I have written to you about your Lombardia blog which I enjoyed as well as simply loving your photos. (a few months ago) As you mentioned GS, I began to visit this fanfest and suspected "Hronop" sounded like you! I then decided to sign up. (I've failed to read your other blogs because I've made a mess of google-translate!! too old for all these online actions...) Have been out of town for several days and find I have missed many pages here as well. Maybe I can can catch up with some of them before gpf. (on my other trips, I usually spend more time on skating during my off time, but somehow I found myself thinking about dear Shoma a lot this trip and yet not wanting to read news until I got home - I believe it is because I am anticipating the gpf so much, as odd as it may sound) best wishes to you! (and I must chide your girlfriend, chide with great affection you understand, as I found out here that she does not appreciate the magic and pleasure of his skate!

Hi biryanione, and welcome to the fanfest! The moment you introduced yourself, I knew it was you! ;)

Wonderful job by you Hronop! Thank you for sharing your love of Shoma / Chaume with us. And now I'm dying to know if your background is in one of the arts. Your attention to detail, your descriptions, etc. seem to go way beyond the ordinary lay person's thoughts. Same goes for the link(s) you posted previously about church interiors. I hope that Sho will continue to get more and more fans in Russia.

Oh my gosh! :laugh2: Be careful with translations, right? Hronop was saying that Google translate translated Shoma as Chaume (with an accent on the e which I can't do on my keyboard). And hopefully Shoma is not unemployed! :dev2:
